Letter from the Editor

As we close out 2025 and look ahead to 2026, this month's issue of Golf Carting Magazine reflects both celebration and preparation—a fitting combination for December.

We're thrilled to feature Low Speed Living on our cover this month. Mike Burdman and Joe Magaro have built something special with their Cart Life brand, and their striking teal and pink six-passenger masterpiece showcases what's possible when passion meets expertise. Starting from a bare frame and building up with premium components, custom fabrication, and meticulous attention to detail, they've created a rolling work of art that embodies their "Low Speed Living" philosophy. Beyond the build itself, their YouTube channel (Cart Life TV) with more than 17,000 subscribers and expanding retail presence in Boca Raton demonstrate how content creation, community building, and quality craftsmanship can combine to create a thriving business in our industry.

Our December community spotlight takes us to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas—America's largest gated community and home to an estimated 5,000 golf carts. Spanning 26,000 acres in the scenic Ouachita Mountains, this master-planned community offers more than 30 miles of paved cart paths winding around 11 lakes and through wooded terrain. With nine championship golf courses totaling 171 holes, two full-service marinas, and a remarkably affordable cost of living, Hot Springs Village shows how golf cart infrastructure can enhance quality

of life in a naturally beautiful setting. It's a destination worth exploring for anyone who appreciates mountain vistas, world-class golf, and active cart-friendly living.

As temperatures drop across much of the country, we're providing practical guidance with "Cold-Weather Golf Cart Essentials." From full enclosures and heated seats to portable heaters and maintenance tips, this guide helps ensure your cart stays comfortable and functional through winter months. Just because it's cold doesn't mean your cart needs to hibernate—the right accessories make all the difference.

For our dealer readers, "Finish Strong, Start Smart" offers a strategic framework for closing out 2025 and launching into 2026 with intention. The final weeks of the year aren't just about coasting to the finish line— they're an opportunity to maximize remaining sales opportunities, honestly assess what worked this year, and build momentum for the year ahead. Smart dealers use this period strategically, setting themselves up for success rather than waiting until January to figure out their approach.

INDUSTRY NEWS

Two significant announcements from our industry partners this month: Club Car has launched the all-new Onward LSV (Low Speed Vehicle), expanding its popular Onward lineup with a street-legal solution featuring comprehensive safety equipment, a 7-inch touchscreen display, and lithium-ion battery options offering up to 55 miles of range. The Onward LSV is now available through authorized Club Car dealers nationwide. Additionally, National Powersport Auctions (NPA) has joined the Low Speed Vehicle Dealer Association (LSVDA) as a Founding Platinum Partner, offering all LSVDA members a free one-year NPA membership with up to $300 in buyer fee credits through July 31, 2026—a partnership aimed at advancing dealer success and growing the national market for low-speed vehicles.

As always, thank you for being part of the Golf Carting Magazine community. Whether you're a dealer closing out a successful year, a custom builder creating your next masterpiece, or an enthusiast enjoying your cart in a community like Hot Springs Village, we appreciate you choosing to spend time with us each month.

Here's to finishing 2025 strong and making 2026 your best year yet.

Mike Burdman and Joe Magaro transform a blank canvas into a showstopping custom cart that embodies their Low Speed Living philosophy

MASTERPIECE SIX-PASSENGER LOW SPEED LIVING

In the world of custom golf carts, there are builds that turn heads, and then there are builds that stop traffic. The six-passenger creation from Low Speed Living falls decidedly into the latter category. With its striking teal and pink color scheme, lifted stance, and attention to detail that borders on obsessive, this cart represents more than just expert craftsmanship—it's a rolling showcase of what's possible when passion meets expertise.

For Mike Burdman and Joe Magaro, the duo behind both the Cart Life brand and Low Speed Living, this build represents the culmination of years of experience creating custom golf carts and a bold statement about where their business is headed.

FROM FRAME TO FAME

"This cart started as a Club Car Precedent frame and floor and was built up using brand new OEM and aftermarket parts," Mike explains. The decision to start from scratch gave the team complete creative control over every aspect of the build.

The foundation began with an M&M Vehicle Systems stretch kit with SV Center Pod, establishing the six-passenger footprint that would become central to the cart's design. From there, the team got to work on one of the build's most distinctive features: the color scheme.

The vibrant pink powder coating on the underbody and inner chassis components creates a stunning contrast with the teal body, making this a cart that demands attention from every angle.

The exterior was custom painted with meticulous automotive processes, ensuring a flawless finish. New body panels, tub, side skirts, dash inserts, and fender flares complete the exterior transformation.

LIGHTING THE WAY

One of the most impressive aspects of this build is its

sophisticated lighting system. The front features a Club Car Tempo cowl fitted with RGB LED headlights, while the rear showcases a MadJax Alpha body kit with stylish taillights. Altogether, the Tempo-fitted headlights, Alpha body taillights, and integrated turn signals result in a cohesive, road-ready lighting package.

"Some other features are our custom Cart Life/Low Speed Living powered triangle, underbody lighting, dual-linked Lithium Rhino sound bars, custom Low Speed Living RGB front emblem, three-way mini light bar, and our signature yellow 30-inch light bar," Mike explains.

The underbody lighting adds visual drama from below, while the signature yellow 30-inch light bar ensures this cart is impossible to miss, day or night. MadJax side steps, doubled up for the six-passenger stretch, and a MadJax brush guard, provide both function and form—making entry and exit easier while enhancing the cart's rugged aesthetic.

POWER AND PERFORMANCE

While the aesthetics might grab attention first, this cart's performance credentials are equally impressive. "The cart is

powered by a monster Lithium Rhino 76v 105AMP battery and a full Navitas 5KW 600Amp conversion with all custom wiring including a custom build harness. No wires are shown anywhere, everything is tucked," Mike says.

That substantial power plant drives 23-inch Maverick Tread tires mounted on GTW wheels, providing the grip and stance to match the cart's bold appearance. The commanding ride height comes courtesy of a 6-inch Jake's Long-Travel lift kit, which not only elevates the cart's visual presence but also enhances its capability over varied terrain, while the sixpassenger MODZ Tower Top ensures everyone rides in style with both aggressive stance and smooth performance.

COMFORT AND TECHNOLOGY

Inside, occupants are treated to custom full-length DekoMats flooring and heated and cooled MadJax ThermaFlex™ Aviator Seats in graphite color, providing both comfort and durability for all six passengers. The attention to detail extends to custom fabrication work, custom wiring harness, and custom 3D printed cluster panel.

"We used our custom triangle, custom wire harness,

and our custom 3D printed dash insert. All available at lowspeedliving.com," Mike notes, highlighting how the build also serves as a showcase for parts and accessories available through their website.

The dual-linked Lithium Rhino sound bars ensure the entertainment matches the performance, while the clean integration of all systems reflects the professional approach that has made Cart Life TV and LowSpeedLiving.com go-to resources for cart enthusiasts.

THE CART LIFE STORY

The story behind this impressive build is inseparable from the story of Cart Life TV and Low Speed Living. Mike Burdman and Joe Magaro have been the owners of Low Speed Living and the Cart Life lifestyle brand for three years, though both have been creating custom golf carts for much longer.

"The business started with the idea of the Cart Life brand and evolved into what it is today," Mike reflects. That evolution has been dramatic. Recently signing a lease on a 3,000 square foot shop, storefront, and studio, the business has gained the flexibility to expand significantly.

The YouTube channel, Cart Life TV, has become a strong platform for the brand, growing steadily with more than 17,000 subscribers, including paid memberships for membersonly content, discounts, and tech support. "Most of our builds and work are featured on the channel," Mike notes, creating a virtuous cycle where their builds inspire viewers while also showcasing their capabilities.

Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Low Speed Living has positioned itself at the intersection of custom builds, parts supply, and educational content. Their website, lowspeedliving.com, serves as both a retail outlet for parts and accessories and a platform to promote the lifestyle philosophy that underpins everything they do.

BUILDING A BRAND ON QUALITY

What sets Cart Life TV apart in the field of golf cart content creators is their commitment to quality and authenticity. "We plan to build the brands through our YouTube channel. Cart Life, Cart Life TV and Low Speed Living," Mike explains. "We really want to expand our website and continue to provide the absolute best prices for our YouTube subscribers."

The new retail space represents the next phase of growth. "Our retail space is opening soon and our vision is for a place in the community where golf cart enthusiasts can come hang out, ask questions, and get parts and service at a great price. The community is very important to us," Mike emphasizes.

Beyond just selling parts and building carts, Mike and Joe envision creating a destination where cart enthusiasts can gather, learn, and connect with others who share their passion for the low-speed lifestyle.

MORE THAN JUST A CART

When you look at this teal and pink six-passenger masterpiece, you're seeing more than just expert fabrication and quality components. You're looking at a mission statement on wheels—a declaration that custom golf carts can be works of art that combine performance, style, and personality in equal measure.

For Mike and Joe, this build represents where Cart Life TV and Low Speed Living have been and where they're going. "We have a lot of awesome ideas, confirmed builds, and tons of great content coming up," Mike says, hinting at what subscribers can expect in the future.

As the golf cart industry continues to evolve and the lifestyle gains mainstream acceptance, builders like Low Speed Living are raising the bar for what's possible. This isn't just a custom cart—it's proof that with the right vision, expertise, and commitment to quality, a golf cart can be transformed into something truly exceptional.

FINISH STRONG, START SMART: YOUR YEAR-END DEALERSHIP GAME PLAN

TThe final weeks of the year present a unique opportunity for golf cart dealers. While many businesses coast through the holidays, successful dealerships use this time strategically—closing out the current year with purpose while laying groundwork for an even stronger 2026.

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR YEAR-END PUSH

December might seem like a slow month for golf cart sales in many markets, but smart dealers know this period offers distinct advantages. Holiday shoppers looking for unique gifts, retirement community residents settling in for winter, and businesses planning for next year's fleet needs all create opportunities that don't exist during typical selling seasons.

More importantly, year-end is your chance to convert prospects who have been considering purchases all year but haven't pulled the trigger. A well-timed follow-up call reminding them of current inventory, potential tax benefits, or special holiday promotions can turn dormant leads into closed deals.

Don't neglect your service department during this period. Customers want their carts ready for holiday gatherings and winter use. Proactive outreach about winterization services, battery maintenance, or accessory upgrades keeps revenue flowing and positions you as the dealer who anticipates customer needs.

THE POWER OF YEAR-END REFLECTION

Before you can plan effectively for 2026, you need clarity about 2025. Block out dedicated time to honestly assess your dealership's

performance. This isn't about dwelling on what went wrong—it's about understanding what happened so you can make better decisions moving forward.

Review your financial performance beyond just top-line revenue. Which products or services generated the best margins? Where did you spend money that didn't produce results? Understanding these patterns helps you budget more accurately for the coming year.

Analyze your customer data. Which marketing channels brought in the most qualified leads? What was your conversion rate? How many customers made repeat purchases or referred new business? These metrics tell you where to invest your marketing dollars in 2026.

Talk to your team. Your sales staff, service technicians, and administrative personnel see things from different angles. What obstacles did they encounter? What customer feedback did they hear repeatedly? These conversations often reveal opportunities for improvement that aren't visible from the owner's desk.

STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR 2026

With clear understanding of where you've been, you can make informed decisions about where you're going. Effective planning isn't about creating elaborate documents that sit in a drawer—it's about identifying specific, actionable priorities.

Start with your financial goals. Revenue targets matter, but dig deeper. What profit margin do you need to achieve? What investments in inventory, equipment, or staffing will you make?

dealereducation

Creating specific financial targets gives you benchmarks to measure progress throughout the year.

Define your market positioning for 2026. Are you competing primarily on price, or are you the premium service provider? Are you the custom cart specialist or the fleet expert? Clarity about your positioning guides every other decision, from inventory selection to marketing messages to staff training priorities.

Set operational priorities. You can't fix everything at once. Choose two or three specific areas where improvement will have the biggest impact. Maybe it's streamlining your sales process, upgrading your service department, or implementing better inventory management. Focus beats trying to do everything simultaneously.

BUILDING MOMENTUM BEFORE JANUARY

The weeks between Christmas and New Year's often get written off as unproductive, but smart dealers use this quiet period strategically. With fewer customer interruptions, it's ideal time for important activities that never feel urgent.

Clean and organize your physical space. A cluttered showroom or disorganized parts department doesn't just look unprofessional— it costs time and money. Use slow days to prepare your facility to make strong first impressions when customers return in January. Update your systems and processes. Review your customer database and clean up outdated information. Organize your files. Update your website content. Set up tracking systems for your 2026 goals. These administrative tasks are easier to accomplish when you're not juggling customer demands.

Invest in your team's development. Schedule training sessions on new products or sales techniques. Review compensation plans. Have individual conversations with each team member about their goals for the coming year. Starting 2026 with an engaged, prepared team creates momentum that carries through the entire year.

CREATING YOUR JANUARY LAUNCH PLAN

How you start January sets the tone for the entire year. Don't wait until January 2nd to figure out your approach—plan your launch now while you have time to think strategically.

Develop your first-quarter marketing calendar. What promotions will you run? What content will you create? When will you reach out to past customers? Having this planned in advance means you can execute immediately rather than scrambling.

Prepare your inventory strategy. What models do you need in stock? What accessories should you feature? Nothing kills momentum faster than having customers ready to buy when you don't have inventory available.

Set up your accountability systems. How will you track progress toward your goals? When will you review your numbers? Establishing these rhythms before the year starts ensures they actually happen rather than getting pushed aside by daily urgencies.

THE INTENTIONAL DIFFERENCE

What separates high-performing dealers from average ones is intentionality. They don't let the year just happen to them—they make conscious choices about where to focus energy and resources.

This year-end period is your opportunity to be intentional. Finish strong by maximizing remaining opportunities in 2025. Create clarity by honestly assessing what worked and what didn't. Build momentum by using quiet weeks to prepare rather than coast.

2026 can be your best year yet, but that doesn't happen by accident. It happens because you finish 2025 with purpose and start 2026 with a plan.

WHAT’S YOUR NAME AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Neil Palmer: I’m based in Edmonton, Alberta

HI NEIL, WHAT IS YOUR COMPANY’S NAME AND WHERE ARE YOU BASED?

Our company is Hawkeye Equipment, and we’re located in Edmonton, Alberta.

WHAT CART DID YOU CHOOSE AS THE FOUNDATION FOR THIS CUSTOM BUILD?

We started with a 2010 Yamaha G29 electric chassis. It was a solid platform for the transformation we had in mind.

TELL US ABOUT THIS BUILD—WHAT INSPIRED IT, AND WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?

We’re a major sponsor of Rock’n August, which is Western Canada’s largest car show and festival. Every year we supply golf carts for the volunteers, and it’s become tradition that we create one fully custom showcase cart for the event.

This particular unit began life as a standard Yamaha G29. We fully stripped it down to the frame and rebuilt it from the ground up. It now runs a Navitas 600-amp AC drive system, and we significantly reworked the chassis—stretching the frame by 5” and dropping the suspension 2”. Despite the mods, it handles incredibly well at speeds over 50 km/h.

The front end received the most fabrication. The grille is a completely custom one-off piece that we welded into place. The headlights are actually 4” pistons repurposed and machined to house LED button lights. We welded nuts inside each piston and used bolts for precise aiming adjustments. The cowl had to be cut and reshaped to integrate the grille, and we finished it all with body trim. The entire cart is wrapped in a custom-printed patina vinyl for that rat-rod aesthetic.

The windshield frame was also custom-built after modifying and rewelding the top struts. At the show, this little Rat Rod actually drew more attention than many of the full-sized cars—definitely one of the most fun builds we’ve done.

WHAT WERE SOME OF THE CUSTOM-FABRICATED ELEMENTS ON THIS CART?

• A 5" frame stretch and 2" suspension drop

• One-off custom grille

• Custom-built piston headlights with LED inserts

• Fabricated windshield frame

• Custom-printed patina-style vinyl wrap

WHAT AFTERMARKET PARTS DID YOU INCORPORATE INTO THE BUILD?

• Custom 15” SS Fusion wheels with low-profile tires

• Custom steering wheel

• Full street-legal lighting kit: horn, turn signals, brake lights, headlights, taillights

• Antique car horn

• Custom floor mat

• Navitas 600-amp AC drive system

• 51.2V / 100AH lithium battery

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND. HOW DID YOU GET INTO BUILDING GOLF CARTS?

I’ve been around golf carts for more than 30 years. I originally worked as a golf course superintendent and mechanic, so carts were simply part of daily life. Eventually I moved into the dealer side of the industry, and today we build over 100 custom carts per year for our customers. Even though I spend most of my time in the office now, I still prefer being in the shop fabricating whenever I get the chance.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU AND HAWKEYE EQUIPMENT?

We’re currently a dealer for everything related to golf, turf, and landscape equipment. But we enjoy the golf cart side of the business so much that we’re seriously considering dropping everything else and focusing solely on carts. It’s where our passion lies.

ACCESSORIES AND TIPS FOR A BETTER RIDE COLD-WEATHER GOLF CART ESSENTIALS

Just because the temps drop does not mean your golf cart has to go into hibernation. Whether you are still hitting the course on those cooler days, cruising around the neighborhood, or just refusing to let a little cold weather slow you down, having the right setup makes all the difference. A few smart upgrades can make riding in the cold a lot more comfortable. In this guide, we cover some of the best accessories and a few simple maintenance tips to help get your cart ready for chilly temperatures. From full enclosures to portable heaters, we'll show you how to keep you and your passengers warm on those chilly days.

STEP 1: START WITH WIND PROTECTION

When it comes to staying comfortable in cold weather, blocking the wind is the single most important thing you can do. You can bundle up in layers all you want, but if cold air is constantly hitting you, you are going to be miserable. A quality enclosure is your best line of defense and makes the biggest overall difference.

ENCLOSURES

Full enclosures wrap the entire cart with clear vinyl windows

and fabric panels, giving you complete protection from wind and weather. Here are a few common styles:

OVER THE TOP COVERS

These throw-over options are simple to install. You can usually just unfold the cover, toss it over the top, and hook it into place. Most have roll-up zippered doors and removable sections. This is a great choice if you want something easy to take on and off.

HINGED DOOR ENCLOSURES

This is a more permanent setup with doors that open and close like a car. The hinged doors make it easy to get in and out, and many models can lock closed, lock open, or be removed completely. It’s not the fastest to install, but once it’s on, it gives you a stable and solid setup.

TRACK-STYLE ENCLOSURES

These fit under the roof using an awning track and have curved zippered doors that attach securely to the cart. They provide good wind protection and can be rolled up and put away when you don’t need them.

We recommend checking out Door Works Enclosures. They offer several high-quality options in different styles, using materials like Sunbrella canvas and marine-grade vinyl. Amazon also has more budget-friendly choices but make sure to check the reviews so you know you’re getting something that will actually hold up.

WINDSHIELDS AND ADD-ONS

A windshield is worth having, whether or not you go with a full enclosure. It blocks that direct blast of cold air from the front and makes a bigger difference than most people expect.

WindSeal kits can be added above and below your windshield to stop drafts and prevent cold air from sneaking in. If you play golf, you can also add a canopy to cover your clubs. It works with or without an enclosure and folds up when not in use.

STEP 2: ADD HEAT WHERE IT MATTERS

Once the wind is under control, the next step is finding ways to stay warm inside your ride. You do not need a complicated setup to make a big difference. A little heat in the right places goes a long way.

HEATED SEATS

A heated seat is one of the best comfort upgrades you can make, and nothing feels better on a cold day. Premium seat systems replace your existing seats with built-in heating and cooling, but you’re going to pay a pretty penny for that kind of setup. We recommend checking out Madjax seats with ThermaFlex technology. These offer dual climate control for

both driver and passenger with three heat levels: low, medium, and high. Expect to spend around $1,000 to $1,500 for this upgrade.

For a more affordable option, heated seat covers or seat pads slip right over your existing seats. Installation is simple and only takes a few minutes. Many well-rated options on Amazon range from $50 to $100. They are not going to match the premium heated seats mentioned above, but they can still make the ride a lot more comfortable.

HEATED STEERING WHEELS

If your hands get cold easily, a heated steering wheel can make a big difference. There are not many options out there, but the KOSO Heated Steering Wheel runs around $400 to $500 and uses built-in heating elements to keep your hands warm while you drive. It is not a cheap upgrade, but it is one of the few high-quality options made specifically for golf carts.

PORTABLE HEATERS

Portable heaters offer a great way to add a little extra warmth. Many models mount to the dash or fit in a cupholder. Some use your cart's battery, while others rely on propane. Installation is usually very simple, and on really cold days, these heaters can make a major difference. Prices typically range from $50-$150, depending on size and heating power.

SMALL COMFORT ADD-ONS

You do not have to spend big to stay warm. Simple touches can make a big difference. Keep a couple of fleece blankets on the cart for passengers. Pack disposable hand warmers or a

golfcarts

rechargeable heated hand warmer in the cup holder. Adding a lap blanket not only offers extra coziness but also helps keep the cold air off your legs and lower body. These smaller items are inexpensive but make rides in the cold a lot more comfortable.

STEP 3: KEEP UP WITH COLD-WEATHER MAINTENANCE

Cold weather is harder on your cart than you might think, so a little extra attention to maintenance goes a long way.

BATTERY AND FUEL CARE

For electric carts, cold temperatures can drain your battery in a hurry. Keep the battery fully charged, especially if the cart is not being used daily. If you have a lead-acid battery, check the water levels and top off with distilled water if needed. If the cart is stored outside in freezing temperatures for long stretches, the battery can take a beating. Ideally, keep it in a garage or covered area when possible.

For gas carts, make sure the fuel is fresh. Old gas can cause stalling and poor performance. If the cart will sit for more than a few weeks, consider adding a fuel stabilizer to help prevent condensation in the tank.

TIRE PRESSURE

Cold weather reduces air pressure in your tires, which affects handling and performance. Check tire pressure regularly and inflate to the recommended PSI. Under-inflated tires wear faster and make the cart harder to control, especially on slick or uneven surfaces.

GENERAL UPKEEP

It is no fun in cold weather but try to give your cart a quick

rinse once in a while to remove dirt, salt, or debris that can build up and lead to corrosion. Lubricate moving parts like wheel bearings and steering components to keep everything moving smoothly. For gas carts, check oil, coolant, and brake fluid levels and top them off as needed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Riding when it is cold out can actually be a lot more enjoyable than most people expect, as long as your cart is set up the right way. AFFORDABILITY AND VALUE

What sets Hot Springs Village apart from many other resortstyle communities is its remarkable affordability. With low taxes, an impressive number of amenities, and an average housing cost under $140 per square foot, the Village offers exceptional value for those looking to live, work, and play in an ideal setting.

Arkansas ranks in the top 15 states nationally for lowest property taxes, and the state doesn't tax Social Security benefits. For those with other forms of retirement income, such as pensions or IRAs, Arkansas offers a deduction of $6,000 for persons aged 59½ or older. This tax-friendly environment makes Hot Springs Village particularly attractive to retirees on fixed incomes.

Real estate options range from affordable townhouses to spacious homes with golf course, mountain, or lake views. Homes are priced from $100,000 to more than $1 million, with many homeowners ready to build custom dream homes on available lots. Whether dreaming of a lakeside retreat, a home near the greens, or a quiet mountain escape, Hot Springs Village offers options for every preference and budget.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

As the largest gated community in the United States, Hot Springs Village maintains its own police and fire departments within the gates, providing residents with peace of mind through 24-hour monitored security. The community's crime rate is 47% lower than the national average, contributing to the sense of safety that allows residents to fully enjoy the cart-

based lifestyle.

The gated access, combined with the community's size and amenities, creates a secure environment where golf carts can travel freely throughout the day and evening, with well-lit paths ensuring safe navigation after dark.

NATURAL BEAUTY YOU HAVE TO SEE TO BELIEVE

The Ouachita Mountains provide a stunning backdrop that changes with the seasons. Spring brings blooming dogwoods and redbuds, summer offers lush green canopies, fall transforms the landscape into a tapestry of reds and golds, and winter reveals the mountain contours beneath bare branches.

The 30 miles of nature trails give hikers, bikers, and nature enthusiasts countless opportunities to explore. These trails connect to the cart path system, allowing residents to transition seamlessly from cart travel to hiking or return home via cart after a morning walk.

Hot Springs Village's commitment to preserving its natural character means that development has been carefully managed to maintain the forested beauty that attracted residents in the first place. The result is a community where homes nestle among trees, lakes remain pristine, and wildlife thrives alongside human residents.

LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY

For those wanting to explore beyond the Village, proximity to both Hot Springs and Little Rock provides easy access to urban amenities, cultural attractions, and healthcare facilities. Historic Hot Springs, famous for its thermal springs and bathhouses, offers shopping, dining, and entertainment options just a 20-minute drive away. Little Rock, with its museums, restaurants, and international airport, sits 45 minutes from Hot Springs Village.

This location provides the perfect balance: a serene, natural setting for daily living with convenient access to everything a larger city offers when desired. Residents can enjoy a quiet breakfast on their deck overlooking the lake, play a round of golf by cart in the morning, and still make it to a Little Rock restaurant or theater performance by evening.

A COMMUNITY BUILT FOR CONNECTION

Beyond the physical amenities, Hot Springs Village thrives because of its people. The community of retirees, former military personnel, families, singles, and couples has created a welcoming atmosphere where new residents quickly feel at home. More than 200 clubs and organizations—from pickleball leagues to art groups, from book clubs to volunteer opportunities—ensure that residents can pursue existing

interests and discover new passions.

The performing arts center hosts concerts, theatrical productions, and other cultural events throughout the year, while community centers provide spaces for gatherings, classes, and social activities. This vibrant social scene, easily accessible by golf cart, transforms Hot Springs Village from simply a place to live into a true community where connections flourish.

SMALL ADVENTURES EVERY DAY

Perhaps the most compelling aspect of Hot Springs Village is how the combination of natural beauty and cart-friendly infrastructure transforms everyday errands into enjoyable experiences. A trip to visit neighbors becomes a scenic drive through the woods. Running to the clubhouse for lunch offers views of mountain vistas and lake reflections. Even the commute to an evening concert at the performing arts center provides an opportunity to slow down and appreciate the surroundings.

This is what golf cart living is truly about—not just convenience, but a fundamental shift in pace and perspective. When you can't rush, you notice more. When the journey is pleasant, destinations become less important than the experience of getting there.

Hot Springs Village shows that golf cart living is about more than just transportation. It's a way to slow down and enjoy one of Arkansas's most beautiful places, turning the everyday into something special. In a world that often moves too fast, this community in the Ouachita Mountains offers a refreshing alternative: a place where 26,000 acres of natural beauty, world-class amenities, and a welcoming community come together to create not just a residence, but a lifestyle.

ASK THE MECHANIC ASK THE MECHANIC

Q: My electric Yamaha G29 exhibits erratic speed control, sudden power surges/drops, and occasionally fails to move from a stop. How do I diagnose the problem?

A: Identify the wires connecting the throttle sensor to the controller. With the run/tow switch in TOW and the key off, safely probe the signal wire while referencing the battery negative. These typically include a battery negative reference, a positive reference voltage and a signal wire.

For a Yamaha G29 (electric 48v), the throttle position sensor (TPS) should have a 5V supply and a signal voltage that increases from a low value (around .35V-.7V) at idle to a higher value (around 4.5V) when the pedal is fully pressed. Check to see if the voltage is between .35 and .7V for the signal wire, and ensuring the 5V supply is present at the sensor.

If the voltage trace is non-linear, jumps abruptly, or cuts out at certain pedal positions, the throttle sensor is faulty and requires replacement. The intermittent or erratic signals confuse the controller.

If the throttle sensor signal is confirmed to be smooth and linear across the entire sweep, but the cart still exhibits the erratic behavior, the problem is an internal failure within the controller's power section or logic board.

Q: How is an electric golf cart motor rebuilt?

A: Typically a procedure called commutator undercutting and truing (or lathing) is done. A scored commutator is placed on a motor lathe and "trued" or turned to ensure the surface is perfectly round and smooth. Deep scoring or excessive wear will cause the commutator to be out-of-round, leading to a loss of consistent brush contact, excessive sparking, and rapid brush wear. Once trued, the mica insulation separating the copper commutator bars must be carefully undercut (routed out) below the surface of the copper segments, typically to a

depth of about 1/32 inch. After installing new carbon brushes, undercutting ensures the brushes maintain complete contact with the conductive copper bars, allowing for proper current transfer, maximizing torque, and preventing runaway arcing that can lead to catastrophic motor failure.

Q: I have converted my EZGO RXV to lithium and now I am experiencing a braking problem. When descending a steep hill, the motor suddenly locks up, and the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, sometimes triggering a high-voltage error code. What is the most likely cause, and what is the relationship between the battery system and this failure?

A: The most likely cause is the Battery Management System (BMS) in your battery is triggering a high-voltage disconnect due to the surge of regenerative current. On an RXV, which uses a regenerative motor brake, during downhill travel the motor acts as a generator converting the cart's kinetic energy into electrical energy (a high-voltage/high-current spike) and sends it back to the battery pack. This is called regen current. Many lithium conversion kits are designed to operate safely, but their BMS is highly sensitive to overcharging. When the cart is near full charge and hits a steep decline, the large, sudden regen current can cause a momentary high-voltage spike across the battery terminals. To protect the lithium cells from thermal runaway or damage, the BMS interprets this spike as an overcharge event and instantly opens the internal contactor, effectively disconnecting the battery from the controller. When the controller loses its power source, it can no longer send an electronic command to the motor, resulting in the instantaneous engagement of the motor's mechanical parking brake or a hard electronic lock-up, causing the abrupt and dangerous stop. The high-voltage error code confirms a voltage outside the controller's safe operating limits.
