1. HOW DOES THE EXPERIENCE WITH GOLF GENIUS COMPARE TO THE WAY YOU PREVIOUSLY RAN THE FIORDLAND CLASSIC?
The old system was very stressful, especially when people would stand at the window watching the whiteboard, waiting for scores to change. There was a lot of pressure to get things right. However, with Golf Genius, it’s so much simpler. As soon as the last cards come in, we immediately know who our top 25 or 26 prize winners are. It’s foolproof and helps to remove a lot of stress.
2. HOW HAVE GOLFERS REACTED TO USING GOLF GENIUS?
I think the players are all pretty excited about using something so new, something they’ve never done before. Some of them were terrified that they wouldn’t be able to operate the mobile scoring system, but it’s gone extremely well. Many people have come to me asking, “How do we get Golf Genius for our club?” or “Who should I talk to?” We’ve been pointing them in the right direction and hopefully, it’ll be everywhere soon.
3. WHY IS GOLF GENIUS A GREAT FIT FOR RURAL GOLF CLUBS?
Because of how successful it’s been so far, we will roll it out across all our major events and member club days. For a club of our size, we can’t justify the cost of having an all-in-one supplier, but Golf Genius is different because we’re not buying physical hardware; we’re investing in technology. This way, we can embrace the technology without incurring a huge outlay.
4. WHAT IMPACT WILL IT HAVE ON TE ANAU GOLF CLUB IN THE FUTURE?
Golf Genius is going to make everything so much easier for us, especially since we are run by volunteers. We have a clubhouse manager, but actual golf days and competitions are run by members who volunteer their time. This system will make the process so much quicker, easier, and more accurate. There won’t be any fear of getting the scoring or results wrong. It’ll make life easier for every member of the club, and no one will fear taking on roles like club captain because Golf Genius simplifies everything.
