1. WHAT ARE THE AMBITIONS FOR GOLF IRELAND’S EVENTS?
We’re working under a strategic plan that runs until 2026, focusing on five key areas to drive the sport forward, and competitions and events play a massive part in this strategy. One of our main objectives is delivering events that foster participation, provide opportunities for players to test skills, and allow others to watch the sport at its very best, so technology has a big part to play in achieveing those ambitions.
2. HOW HAS THE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOLF GENIUS GROWN?
Our relationship began last year. The first year was all about getting to know the system and figuring out how best to use its features. This year, we’ve really settled in, and Golf Genius now runs the behind-the-scenes operations for all our championships and competitions—from entries to participation on the day.
The software is a game-changer. It allows us to run events professionally, ensuring everything looks and feels top-class for both us and the competitors. It also powers our inter-club competitions, letting golfers check draws, results, and event details with ease.
3. HOW HAS GOLF GENIUS BENEFITTED YOUR EVENTS?
Golf Genius helps Golf Ireland run our competitions and events smoothly and in a professional way. It simplifies the whole process, allowing us to focus on the competition itself without getting bogged down by admin. We can easily set up the event, monitor it, and manage the scoring and leaderboard—all from one platform. That’s crucial for maintaining the high standards we want for these events.
4. WHAT ROLE HAS GOLF IRELAND PLAYED IN GOLF GENIUS’ DEVELOPMENT OF ITS TECHNOLOGY?
As with any software, there are always things that can be improved. We’ve been able to provide feedback to Golf Genius, and the team has been very responsive. The product has evolved over time, especially to accommodate the unique needs of the many different types of tournaments we run in Ireland. They’ve listened to our feedback and made adjustments to ensure the software meets our requirements.
