After the 2014 Show in Champaign, we listened, read, and listened some more to the feedback of our attendees about the Show. We realized that Corvette enthusiasts across the country were looking for something special. They needed a show that did more than offer glimpses of Corvettes, old & new, sold parts and offered a day of walking and looking at what the Corvette world had to offer.

We realized and accepted that we needed to make a change. Like everything that Bloomington Gold does, we wanted to make it a GOLD Experience. By the end of August, we were looking at our possibilities and by the end of September, our hearts had found a home. With just a few weeks of planning and working on the fine print, we made the announcement: Bloomington Gold Is Moving to Indiana. That is when the fun started. The rumors and the gossip started to fly…..The Show was going to NE Indiana, we were buying land in McLean County, St. Louis here we come…We were returning to Chicago, we were bought by a number of industry players and I could go on. Then, one blustery, snowy day in November, my executive staff and I made a trip to Indianapolis to make an announcement of a lifetime. Bloomington Gold was not only moving to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but that we had rented the ENTIRE race track for the last weekend in June. We were no longer a Corvette Show that attendees came to see. We are now an interactive, longest running and soon largest all Corvette Show in the country. If you haven’t already, make plans now to be in Indianapolis the last weekend of June as we are going to rock, knock and drive your socks off ! I look forward to seeing you the last weekend of June,

Thursday, November 13, 2014-Guy Larsen, President Bloomington Gold Corvettes and Doug Boles, President of IM announce that Bloomington Gold is moving to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Greetings Gold Members, As you probably heard, Bloomington Gold has rented the entire Indianapolis Motor Speedway the last weekend of June so that we can host the greatest Corvette event in the country! And what better way to experience this paramount show than by being a GoldMember! Whether a new or existing member, the privileges membership offers are unparalleled to past experiences. For starters, GoldMembers will be the first to receive official Bloomington Gold apparel with both the Bloomington Gold logo and the IMS logo on it. At the Show, members will have access to an air-conditioned tent where they can enjoy cold beverages and snacks while catching up with fellow members. The popular Friday night reception hosted by Chubb Insurance will be on the 8th floor of the Pagoda, which overlooks the entire track as well as offers a beautiful view of the Indianapolis Skyline. IMS themselves will host a special GoldMember Lunch on Saturday, also in the Pagoda.

What better way to end the weekend then lining up for the GoldTour on the track itself ? GoldMembers again will help lead the tour with their location near the front of the Tour. INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY HALL OF FAME MUSEUM Recognized as one of the most highly visible museums in the world devoted to automobiles and auto racing, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum is located in the infield of the famed IMS 2.5-mile oval and is open year round except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Museum’s amazing collection encompasses race cars from many series: IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula One, Sprint, Midget, motorcycle races, and drag racing. It also includes a variety of passenger automobiles, many of which were manufactured in Indiana by companies that once had ties to racing. These include spectacular examples of Duesenberg, Marmon, and Stutz marques, as well as Ferrari, Mercedes, and a variety of other European passenger car makers. The collection encompasses motorcycles, dragsters, and vehicles that have set world land speed records at various points in history, including Craig Breedlove’s Spirit of America Sonic I. Approximately 75 vehicles are on display at all times. Historic cars on display include The Marmon “Wasp,” that was driven by Ray Harroun in winning the inaugural Indianapolis 500 in 1911, the Duesenberg #12, which is the only car ever to win both the Indianapolis 500 (1922) and the French Grand Prix at Le Mans (1921). Fans can also see the four cars driven by A.J. Foyt to Indianapolis 500 wins, including the car he drove in winning the 1977 ‘500’ making him the first driver ever to win “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” four times. The museum is also the permanent home of the famed The Borg-Warner Trophy, which is the most famous and prestigious trophy in all of motorsports. It features the face of all 99 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race winners, including two years in which co-drivers assisted the primary driver to Victory Lane, and former IMS owner Anton “Tony” Hulman. Separate squares are reserved on the sterling-silver body on which each winner’s name, average speed and winning year are engraved to complement the bas relief image. Recent temporary exhibits at the museum include 67 cars that won 71 Indianapolis 500s that appeared during the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500 in 2011, and a current exhibition of cars powered by turbine engines that competed in the Indianapolis 500 in the 1960s.
