During your visit, you’ll get to see the stone circle of Stonehenge and explore the fascinating theories surrounding this prehistoric monument. Was Stonehenge a place of sun worship, a healing sanctuary, a sacred burial site or something else entirely?

What cannot be denied is the ingenuity of its builders. Using only basic tools, they shaped the stones and created mortise-and-tenon joints linking uprights and lintels. Using antlers and bones, they dug the pits to hold the stones and made the banks and ditches that enclosed them. As you walk around, attempt to piece together yourself how, and why the stones came to rest there. Visit the Stonehenge Visitor Centre, which houses many permanent and temporary exhibitions.
