During your visit, you’ll get to see the stone circle of Stonehenge and explore the fascinating theories surrounding this prehistoric monument. Was Stonehenge a place of sun worship, a healing sanctuary, a sacred burial site or something else entirely?
What cannot be denied is the ingenuity of its builders. Using only basic tools, they shaped the stones and created mortise-and-tenon joints linking uprights and lintels. Using antlers and bones, they dug the pits to hold the stones and made the banks and ditches that enclosed them. As you walk around, attempt to piece together yourself how, and why the stones came to rest there. Visit the Stonehenge Visitor Centre, which houses many permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Start your day at the original underground bunker that served as Britain’s secret wartime headquarters during World War II. Preserved much as it was in 1945, you can see the Cabinet Room, where Winston Churchill and his ministers made crucial decisions, and the Map Room with its original maps pinned with notes. Explore modest staff bedrooms, a small kitchen, and Churchill’s private room with his desk and personal belongings. Continue to Blenheim Palace, Churchill’s birthplace and ancestral home in Oxfordshire’s countryside. The Baroque masterpiece is a UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by more than 2,000 acres of carefully landscaped parkland. See the State Rooms, remarkable portraits and tapestries, the Long Library, the Churchill Exhibition, and discover Life Below Stairs before returning to London, where your tour will conclude.
