The Draft Moorabool River Reserve Masterplan (the Draft Masterplan) was endorsed by Golden Plains Shire Council at its meeting on Tuesday 25 July for a period of further community consultation.
Community engagement for the Draft Masterplan was undertaken during November 2022 and responses from community members provided information on the Reserve’s natural assets, key issues and preferred uses.
A site walk with Wadawurrung representatives was also undertaken to investigate traditional custodian interests and opportunities regarding the future management of the Reserve.
Council will seek further community feedback from Wednesday 26 July to Wednesday 16 August before the Masterplan is finalised and presented
at a Council meeting later this year.
The Draft Masterplan can be viewed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations and community members can complete an online survey until 5pm, Wednesday 16 August 2023.
A community meeting to discuss the Draft Masterplan will take place at the Batesford Community Hall on Tuesday 8 August at 7.30pm.
The development of the Moorabool River Reserve Masterplan is part of the larger Kitjarra-dja-bul Bullarto Langi-ut, previously known as the Barwon River Parklands Project.
The updated Ross Creek Recreation Reserve Masterplan (the Masterplan) was adopted by Golden Plains Shire Council at its meeting on Tuesday 25 July.
The updated Masterplan aims to reflect current facility provisions at the reserve, capture future participation opportunities, identify demands for future facility improvements and address functional issues with the existing landscape. The Masterplan was developed in consultation with the Ross Creek Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, Community Coordinators and tenant clubs. It also aligns with Council’s vision for sport and active recreation and ensures that the long-term development aspirations of the tenant clubs, community groups and residents are taken into consideration.

Council is seeking further input from the community following endorsement of the Smythesdale Gardens and Brewery Dam Reserve Draft Masterplan (the Draft Masterplan) at its meeting on Tuesday 25 July.
The Draft Masterplan was developed following an extensive community engagement process which included the Smythesdale Progress Association/ Committee of Management (CoM) taking part in a site walk through and a consultation session where they shared their views on site issues and constraints, and identified opportunities for improvements.
Key objectives of the Draft Masterplan include improving and enhancing the reserve landscape, establishing options for additional facilities
and infrastructure, improving recreational opportunities for reserve users and resolving access issues.
Council will seek community feedback from Wednesday 26 July to Wednesday 23 August, before the Draft Masterplan is finalised and presented at a Council meeting later this year.
