Applications for the first round of Council's Community Strengthening Grants Program for 2023 are set to open to local community groups on Wednesday 1 March, 2023.

Community groups are invited to apply for funds to help deliver community projects and events with grants of up to $10,000 available in four streams:

• Environment and Sustainability to support projects that support the environment.

• Healthy Active Living to support recreation, sport, health and wellbeing projects.

• Creative Community to support arts and culture projects.

• Community Safety to support projects that equip communities to be safe and resilient. To support community groups throughout the application process, Council is running drop-in sessions across the Shire with in-person sessions to be held at the following locations:

• The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale on Tuesday 21 March from 4 to 6pm

Council is inviting young people in the community to participate in the Youth Pathways Survey to identify the job support and training that will best support them.

The Youth Pathways Survey is designed for local young people aged 14 to 25 and aims to identify the skills and learning opportunities for young people that will provide pathways to employment, encourage active community involvement, or support small business start-up opportunities.

The Youth Pathways Survey is open until Monday 27 March, 2023 and can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.com.au/consultations

Printed copies of the survey are available at Council’s Customer Hubs, Golden Plains Civic Centre, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.

Residents in Teesdale are invited to provide feedback on initial flood maps developed as part of the Teesdale Flood Study at an information session at the Teesdale Community Hall on Thursday 9 March from 4 to 6pm.

At the information session, Teesdale residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the flood maps which have been developed following community consultation undertaken in 2022. Residents are also invited to provide additional information on the historic flooding events that have been modelled.
