Local Artists Invited to Exhibit at Golden Spaces

Local artists in Golden Plains are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to exhibit their artworks at the Golden Spaces Summer Exhibition!

Golden Spaces is a free community-based program offering group art exhibitions across three locations: The Bannockburn Cultural Centre, The Well at Smythesdale and the Golden Plains Civic Centre in Bannockburn. This initiative aims to celebrate and promote local artists, providing the community with greater access to the arts in a local setting and offering professional development opportunities for both emerging and established artists within our Shire.

To complete an EOI, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/golden-spaces or scan the QR code. EOI’s are open until 5pm, Friday 30 August 2024.

The Golden Spaces 2024 Summer Exhibition will launch at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre on Thursday 19 December.

Broaden Your Interests Through the Online Community Directory

Council’s innovative Online Community Directory provides easy-to-find information and assists residents and visitors in engaging with the many local community groups, clubs, services, associations and facilities based in the Shire.

The Online Community Directory features a range of categories and listings for people to search. Eligible groups can also add their own free listing by creating an account at Council’s website. Once approved, groups can independently manage their own listings and update them as needed.

The Online Community Directory and a user guide with instructions on how to create a community listing are available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/community-directory.

Glass Recycling Service On the Way to Golden Plains Shire

Golden Plains Shire Council is gearing up to introduce a new household waste and recycling system that will improve the way residents recycle at home.

Under Victorian Government legislation, all Councils must move to a standard four-bin system: red for general waste, yellow for mixed recycling, purple for glass and lime green for combined food and garden organics.

In line with the changes, Council is commencing with the introduction of a new separate purple glass bin in 2025. At the same time of the introduction of the new purple bin, the frequency of collection for the yellow recycling bin will change from weekly to fortnightly.

Council plans to commence the new glass purple bin service in early 2025. Until then, households should keep using the current waste and recycling system as normal.
