What an Epic Day for a Drive

STORY AND PHOTOS BY GREGG AND ALISON BULL

Picture the scene if you will…. 41 Porsches in all shapes, sizes, colours and years parked at the Coffee Plantation ready for another AZPCA drive.

This morning treated us to not only perfect weather but also a fantastic assortment of cars from a 356 to a Turbo S and everything in between, a real classic showcase of Porsches old and new.

The mood was very positive and Jason D. summed it up perfectly as Group 1 set off when he stated “We’ve got some great classics in this group” all the while sitting in his 2017 Graphite Blue Metallic 991.2.

As our drive started we did face our one and only true obstacle, the lights were out at Cactus/101. In true AZPCA spirit all 3 groups successfully navigated the trouble and we were off on our drive.

We must thank the organizers of this drive because the route they chose was perfect in every way.

The drive took us through some very interesting neighbourhood’s that both Alison and myself had not been through before which made the drive very fresh, scenic and entertaining. The brief planned stop so all members could gather up was pure genius.

After first zipping past the entrance to Bartlett Lake, we were treated to an absolutely amazing twisty, dipping road that saw Group1 pass Group2 and then once Group2 turned around we passed by Group 3 in the other direction.

When we did enter onto Bartlett Lake Rd for our final spirited drive before lunch, we all indulged in yet another mesmerizing stretch of tarmac that gave both our group and the passing cars a parade of all things Porsche.

At the end of our journey, we were delighted to find a very welcoming staff and an amazing meal put on by The Cove Restaurant. The food, the company of friends and the cars made the Bartlett Lake drive truly EPIC.
