East Valley “Five 7s” Drive

EAST VALLEY “FIVE 7s” DRIVE Saturday, December 4, 2021 9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.

We have many great roads to explore North and South of Highway 60, and early December is a great time to take the drive on the “Five 7s”; Highway 177, Highway 77, and Highway 79. Great sweeping curves and long straightaways.

Our group will drive east on Hwy. 60 past Superior, AZ. Head south on AZ 177 south past the Asarco Ray Mine. Unfortunately, access to the mine overlook is closed. If they don’t open it up by our tour date here is a link to a virtual tour of the mine: ASARCO Ray Mine in Kearny, Arizona - YouTube.

You will also drive past the extensive fire damage caused by this year’s Telegraph fire. The Telegraph fire is the 6th largest fire in Arizona History. The drive continues towards Winkleman, AZ with a stop at the Speedway gas station before heading south on AZ 77 towards Oracle, AZ, past SaddleBrooke Ranch. The group will turn North onto Hwy. 79 to our lunch destination in Florence, River Bottom Grill, 2501 North Highway 79, Florence, AZ 85132.

We will arrive at our lunch destination, The River Bottom Grill, around 12:30 P.M. The River Bottom has a Southwestern vibe and great menu to choose from. It is located near a river bed that is dry most of the year. The restaurant will provide our group a designated parking area, and you will pay your tab individually. After lunch you can head back north on Hwy. 79 to Hwy. 60 West.
