International Opportunities

Daisy and Megan, from Bedfordshire, are off to the 25th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ25) in August. To get to know the other Guides and Scouts in the unit (25), they have attended varying camps and residentials Most recently, they had a brilliant time on the Isle of Wight They went to a UV disco, learned the ukulele, and some magic tricks There were inflatables, a visit to the zoo, to name just a few of the super fun activities on offer. There was a selection weekend held at Wrest Park recently for Guides interested in future international opportunities If you are interested in travelling abroad with Girlguiding, look out for opportunities advertised GOLD 2024 (Guiding Overseas linked with development) applications for next year have now opened, on the Girlguiding UK website and close on Sunday 4 June. Applicants must by aged 18, by 1 February 2024, and under 30, by the end of October 2024 They must also be available to attend: Go for Gold Weekend, Bonaly Scout Centre, Edinburgh, 29 September1 October 2023 and, if selected a list of further dates. There are no GOLD projects in 2025, so if anyone is getting close to the cut-off age, they might want to consider applying now

We hope this has given you a taste of what is available in the C y y g , while others are for individuals to do Also, all our leaders are volunteers and may not be able to take girls to all the events Please keep this in mind when talking to the unit leaders about events Also we are always looking for people to help with events and meetings This could be helping out at the odd meeting, helping plan or be an extra adult on an outing or help put craft packs together or do the accounts What we can achieve is endless, when we do it together
