Welcome by Pat Flanagan Chairperson, Rásaíocht Con Éireann
On behalf of the Board of Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ), I am delighted to welcome all trainers, owners, and spectators to Shelbourne Park for this year’s RCÉ/GRI Winter Racing Festival.
The Winter Racing Festival quickly became one of the most anticipated weekends on the Irish greyhound racing calendar, showcasing the very best of our sport at its national home. This year’s festival once again promises top-class competition, a fantastic atmosphere, and a celebration of the commitment and passion that define our greyhound community.
A total prize fund of €170,000 will be distributed across the two nights of racing. I would like to acknowledge the continued support of the Irish Greyhound Owners and Breeders Federation (IGOBF) for their sponsorship of the National Puppy 525, with RCÉ proudly supporting all other races on the programme.
Both nights of the Festival will be broadcast live on Barking Buzz and SIS, providing an important national and international platform for our sport and offering unprecedented visibility for the outstanding talent on display.
It has been another strong year for Irish greyhound racing on the track, marked by exceptional performances and positive engagement with the public. Attendance at our stadia continues to grow, and the expansion of our care, welfare, and traceability programmes is progressing with real momentum.
As we approach the end of the year, I would like to thank and commend the staff of RCÉ and our greyhound stadia across the country for their professionalism, hard work, and commitment to delivering a high-quality service to the greyhound community throughout 2025.
I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful weekend of racing at Shelbourne Park, and I extend my very best wishes to all competitors and their connections.
Le meas, Pat Flanagan Chairperson, Rásaíocht Con Éireann
