You will learn a beginner friendly pattern to make granny squares. Granny squares are a building block for a variety of crochet items that can be used to make clothes, blankets, bags, and more! You will leave this class with some granny squares all your own, and knowledge on how to craft them.

Start with the basics and learn what it takes to turn mud and rock into objects that last a lifetime.

Whether you’re shaping clay on the potter’s wheel or sculpting with your hands, you will be amazed with each step along the way. Ever since the first human looked at sand and thought, “What would happen if I melted that?” people have been in love with glass. MAKE A RING FROM A QUARTER with Mike Daddario 5 Thursdays May 18 - June 15 6-9pm

Learn the basic knowledge of copper forming while you create a piece of functional art. Using methods of both sinking and raising, create a volumetric bowl from a flat sheet of copper in our metals studio. The final product will be 5”x5” or less. $247.50 / $210.38 (member)

Dig into your change purse and turn that quarter into a unique handcrafted ring.

Bring your own commemorative quarter, one that represents a special event or date. The process is easy! First, punch a hole in the center of the quarter. Next, we’ll turn the coin inside out. The faces of the coin become the top and bottom of your ring band. Once you’ve made your first ring, step up to a pre-1964 quarter that is 90 percent silver.

Learn the basic techniques and applications of repoussé, a metalworking technique where copper is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Cabinetmaking brings the art of woodworking together with the craft of functionality. Learn the basic parts of a cabinet, and how to assemble these into a custom design. Over six-weeks, we will learn about material selection and milling, design and assembly, and end with finishing and installation. At the end of the course, leave with your handmade cabinet and the knowledge to continue building.

Learn how to design, carve, and print your own custom block prints using traditional block printing techniques and modern tools. Learn the basic principles of block printing including composition, carving, inking, and printing. Start in the woodshop, where you will design and carve your block. In the final class, move to the print shop where you will work with a variety of materials to create your own unique prints to share with family and friends.

Learn the basics of woodworking in a safe and structured environment. This course focuses on the safe use of power tools, such as the table saw, jointer, planer, bandsaw, hollow-chisel mortiser, and routers. Learn about the properties of wood, how to mill a piece of wood foursquare, the basics of joinery, and then make a hardwood tool box using skills learned in the class.

Studio Access OPEN STUDIOS Open studio hours can be accessed by students enrolled in 5+ week courses for the duration of that course. Approximately 10-12 hours of non-instructional time per week are available.

Schedules are posted online and in each studio on a monthly basis.

Open studio hours are included with some 5+ week course tuitions.

STUDIO PASSPORTS Studio Passports allow individuals to access open studio hours during each term. Limited to those with basic knowledge of the medium and overseen by a monitor instead of instructor, studio passports offer a great opportunity to work at your own pace. Priced per month; registration available online at goggleworks.org/classes. Member discounts do not apply.

Policies REGISTRATION Registration closes five business days prior to the start of class in order for instructors to facilitate the best experience.

PAYMENT Students must pay for classes in full upon registration. We accept cash and checks (on site only) and all major credit cards. Read course descriptions carefully for dates, times, and required supplies.

GoggleWorks will send email an confirmation after registration.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS In the event that a student must withdraw their registration from a class or workshop, GoggleWorks will issue a full refund if cancellation is made seven days prior to the start of class. There will be no refunds or pro-rating options for missed classes. No refunds are issued for cancellations made within one week (seven days) of the first day of the scheduled class. GoggleWorks reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment. If a course is canceled, you will be notified of the cancellation five business days prior to the start of class and will be offered to transfer to another course for a substitute or issued a full refund.

In the event that a class or workshop is canceled due to inclement weather, GoggleWorks will schedule a make-up date.

LOCATION Classes at GoggleWorks are located all around campus depending on your medium. One week (five days) prior to class, GoggleWorks will send a welcome email including where to find your class on campus. If you are unsure of where your class is meeting, check in at the information desk in our lobby for assistance. Our facility is handicapped accessible.

MINORS GoggleWorks requires written permission for all students under the age of 18 who are enrolled in any adult course. Please contact programs@goggleworks.org if you are enrolling a minor and a permission form will be provided via email before the start date of the course. This does not apply for Mini-Makers! Family Workshops or Youth & Teen classes.

WAIT-LISTS If a class reaches maximum capacity, you will have the option to join a waitlist at the time of registration. If open spots become available in a wait-listed course, wait-listed students will be contacted to register in order of when they were added to the wait-list. If enough students join the wait-list, GoggleWorks will try to add an additional class or workshop.

MATERIALS & SUPPLIES Most materials required for your course are included in the price of tuition. If additional supplies are needed before the beginning of class, a supply list will be included with the course description and emailed to registered students prior to the start of class.

MAKE-UP DATES GoggleWorks does not offer make-up dates for any student who is unable to attend a scheduled class.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) In an effort to keep all participants safe in the ongoing pandemic, GoggleWorks asks that you please not attend in the event that you are exhibiting any symptoms of sickness. If you are feeling unwell, please contact the programs department at programs@ goggleworks.org as soon as possible so we can work with you proactively to find an acceptable solution.

ARTWORK PICKUP If your class or workshop project(s) requires additional treatment after the course is over, GoggleWorks will contact you when work is completed and ready to be picked up. GoggleWorks does not ship work to students. Student artwork will be held 60 days after course end date. All work is subject to discard after the 60-day period.

VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHS GoggleWorks reserves the right to use photographs and/or videos taken during classes and other programs to market and promote GoggleWorks and its programs. Any student or legal guardian who does not wish to have his or her child photographed or photographed themselves, is asked to notify programs@goggleworks.org upon registration.
