Dear Ms. Atkins: Thank you for taking the time to write. I followed the suggestions in your letter of November 23 2011 by producing a short treatment for my new reality show. I then sent query letters to various agencies and production companies listed in The Hollywood Directory, to garner interest and representation so my idea could be formally submitted to Ms. Bresnan of CBS Entertainment. However, I have discovered, that like you, agencies and production companies will not accept unsolicited treatments. Like North Korea, Hollywood appears to be an entirely self contained system that is unable to accept ideas from the outside. I have developed an intelligent, tasteful, and fascinating series that has the potential to generate a tremendous volume of social media conversation, and thus many viewers and advertisers, but as an outsider, I cannot get any legitimate Hollywood entity to agree to look at it, even merely to reject it. I have enclosed my new treatment, and I hope you will take five minutes to read it. It might not be possible for CBS to consider every unsolicited idea it receives, but it must be possible for someone to use executive discretion to convey when something unexpected falls out of the sky. You have an alternative programming department for the purpose of cultivating unconventional program ideas just like mine, but they cannot speculate on which aspect of my series would generate the most social media conversation, if it remains impossible for them to know of it. Finally, I sent several such packages on different occasions to three separate CBS buildings in New York and Los Angeles, but only received one package back, therefore, two of my earlier attempts to correspond with Mr. Moonves are still in your possession. I have not sent any query letter or my treatment to any other network besides CBS.
Sincerely,
George MacArthur
