Through the Door
By Juliette M
Curiosity was like lightning and it struck, When what I didn’t need was a stroke of bad luck, A door magically appeared right in my path, I didn’t expect to feel its wrath, The turn of the handle, the swish of the door, Would I be stuck in this land forever more? I went in all guns blazing, all hands on deck, But all I could do was choke from the fumes in my neck, Polluted and smokey was the air, Was this our future? We weren’t far from there, Before me landfill was building into mountains, Heat and toxicity sprayed up like fountains, No pretty flowers, not a single daisy, Are we doing enough or just being lazy? This is climate change and there is nothing worse, This is our doing, we ’ ve made our own curse
