A letter from the Headmistress Dear Parents, What a wonderful last full week of the academic year we have all enjoyed. I have seen the children enjoying such a wide range of activities all over the school and I can safely say that it has been amazing. The younger children had a wonderful time maypole dancing and it was quite a sight to behold as they span around. The Upper Thirds learnt a dance routine that they then taught to the Form Is and it was a wonderful treat to be a part of that audience. Meg and I visited the Form Is just before bed time and what a magical evening was beginning as the girls excitedly decorated their tents with home made bunting. Today we have heard the newly elected Monitors giving their speeches to become Head of School and Deputy Heads of School and the finale must be the Fourths Production, ‘Legends Never Die’ starring Jane Bond, which amazingly they have pulled together in a week under the guidance of a professional production team. The girls have really worked very hard to bring this wonderful production and we enjoyed the pizza and Pimms party afterwards. With only four days of term left and tomorrow being the long awaited FOG ‘Godstowe by the Sea’, summer festival I wish you all a happy and enjoyable weekend.

Arrangements for the End of Term 2022 Claire Gillett, Head of Lodge
Hannah Smart, Head of Nursery
Lodge and Nursery have had another busy week in the run up to the end of term. Much of the focus has been on looking back and celebrating achievements from this year and looking forward to the next stage of the children's learning journey when they return in September. Nursery were able to come over to Lodge to join our final Birthday Prayers of the term, in preparation for their move to Beginners, whilst Transition enjoyed some Main School lunches in preparation for their move to Form I. Transition were also able to take part in a fun games session with Form I, and visit the Health Centre and library at Main School. All of Lodge enjoyed a picnic on Walker lawn on Tuesday, followed by May Pole dancing, which was good fun and quite a challenge in the windy weather.
2nd July - FoG "Godstowe by the Sea: All welcome 12 noon til 4pm 3rd July - Boarders Invitational BBQ 12 noon for those attending 4th July - Lodge Perriss Knight Awards 9.15am, Recital Hall Please park off site Please arrive no earlier than 9am 4th July - Lodge Collection and Goodbye Tea Please collect your child between 3.30pm and 3.45pm if you are not attending the Goodbye Tea for Transition The Goodbye Tea is from 3.45pm to 4.30pm, please arrive after 3.45pm and park on the tennis court. 4th July - Leavers' Service 3.15pm - 4pm (Upper School only) Parents may collect from Church after the service Boarders will be walked back to school after the service Free parking at High Wycombe Train Station, see email for details 5th July - Main School Prize Giving 10.30am - 12pm Late drop off for girls, 9.30-9.45am. Prize Giving will take place in the marquee on the Sports field A light lunch and refreshments will be served afterwards Parents may collect their daughters from Tutors outside the marquee Parents of Fourths are encouraged to park at Lodge. Limited parking spaces will be available on the day.

Boarders' Corner We've wasted no time this week, keeping the girls busy with lots of fun in the Summer sun. Wednesday brought the main school Sports Day and it was lovely to see so many parents out enjoying the sun with us. After a morning of impressive racing, cheering and singing, the girls settled down to their picnics in the afternoon. That evening, the whole boarding community went down to Bluegrass in High Wycombe for our end of term meal. It was a lovely evening with all the houses coming together as the girls (and staff!) enjoyed some BBQ specials and delicious desserts. On Sunday, some of the Highlands girls made some impressive creations at Bojangles which we look forward to seeing very soon. Meanwhile, the rest of the boarding team was up bright and early, as we departed for Brighton… Some of the girls were a little apprehensive about going back to Brighton due to the bad weather last time. This time couldn't have been more different, as the sun came out, the atmosphere most certainly felt new and unique. After arriving on the seafront, we walked along the front, visiting the shops along the way. We then stopped for some lunch on the beach and the girls had the opportunity to go paddling. Paddling was a new experience for lots of the girls, I think many of them - and our Australian GAPS - were a little shocked at how chilly the English seas are! Whatsmore, the pebbles were a little prickly for everyone’s feet and we managed to capture some amazing photos of the Walker girls helping Miss Kingston get back to her shoes! Nonetheless, it was a chilled yet exciting lunchtime on the beach. Refuelled and ready to go, we went onto the pier where the girls were very excited to get back on some of their favourite rides. For our littlest boarders, they were over the moon to have grown since September, meaning they were now allowed on more rides than before! Particular highlights included, turbo, mousetrap, the twister and of course booster. Finally, we finished off the day with a spot of supper on the pier, then we got one last team photo before boarding the coach back to school. Although you will have to forgive us, as some of the Highlands girls are missing - they were having such a lovely stroll along the pier that Miss Kruger accidently turned the wrong way and they missed the photo! Despite a few chilly feet and rouge Highlanders, it was a fab weekend - we look forward to the FOG “Godstowe by the Sea” this coming weekend as we continue our summer beach theme…

Workshop Week This week, Main School have been involved in Workshop Week. From residential trips, trips to the Zoo, orienteering, Interhouse swimming and even some ice cream making, everyone, including the staff, has had a fantastic week!
