It has been a very busy 3 weeks in the Estates Team as we took advantage of the empty school to carry out essential repairs and updates.

We have several large and old boilers in school and the holidays gave us the opportunity to pull out the oldest boiler, circa 1960’s, and replace this with two new energy efficient boilers

Work has continued in the Nursery with new furniture, toys and a fresh look to the outside space, with more to come this term

The school boundaries, walls fencing and trees are on a rolling program of maintenance and the Easter holidays are always a good time to make those repairs.

We have been busy working on the boarding houses, especially in the dorms and shower rooms, and we also have a full decorating schedule in place for the summer holidays

On the 30th March we were delighted to invite the High Wycombe Fire Brigade in to use the School premises for their offsite training They were extremely pleased and feel that the school offers many scenarios for the team to train in and will be using the premises more frequently going forward.

For the last two weeks of the Easter Break Ultimate Activities hosted many children from Godstowe and other Schools for their easter Camp They had a wonderful time in between the bouts of sunshine and showers.

As we look towards a busy Summer Term we have a vacancy in the Estates Team for a full time Head Groundsperson, all the details are on our website and we are looking to hire for this role as soon as possible if you know anyone who may be interested

No Enrichment curriculum

On Monday, staff were welcomed back to school for the start of the new term

There were whole school meetings, department meetings, first aid meetings and an incredible talk by Dick Moore We even had a visit from our very own Mr Bump

This week an exciting piece of equipment was delivered to the Design Technology Department - a shiny new laser cutter!

Laser cutters can cut and engrave a wide variety of materials including wood, plastics and fabrics

Mrs Lee-Metcalfe has enjoyed being trained on it and have spent some time understanding how it works and what can be achieved This will be a huge benefit to the school, not only in terms of DT work but also across all areas of the school

The girls will shortly start using this as part of the DT curriculum and most projects will have an area in which the laser cutter can be used The girls in the Middle Thirds will be the first to use it as part of their lamp project and the Lower Thirds will get a chance to use it in a new project later this term

Many staff are excited about the possibilities of the machine Mrs Harris will soon have a new set of Honours Readers prizes and bookstands for the library and the Maths department will have some Godstowe branded stationery too We are sure there will be more and more areas in which we will see work created by the laser cutter.

Mrs Lee-Metcalfe says, "My thanks goes to FoG for purchasing the laser cutter It will be invaluable to the school and it has brought a massive smile to my face this week."

Where does love lie?

Where does love lie? Let me count the ways

Love lies in the depth, breadth and height

Love lies in the warm embrace of my mother’s arms, Protecting me to the world's end, with hints of her warmness and soothing smell

Love lies in the click of the door when my dad comes home

The feeling of completeness, as we all sit down to dinner

Love lies in the late night conversations with my sisters

Talking after what seems forever, though only a few hours

Love lies in the kicking of a football with my brother

The fun, laugh and giggles, and happiness flooding through me, looking at his adorable face

Love lies in the first bite of your favourite meal

The warmth that courses through my body, flavours bursting my tastebuds

Love lies in my heart

In those little moments, those where I feel complete Love lies in those snapshots of happiness, resting in my memory

Being around those I love

Laughing, having fun, being me

Love lies in the nooks and crannies

Making its way into your life, when you least expect it

Love lies where I feel happiest
