Manifest your Goals

W

e all like to feel success in one form or another. And success means different things to different people. Everybody measures success in different ways, yet each is subjective and valid.

Most people would agree attaining a goal brings enormous feelings of success. To be able to tell if you have succeeded it helps to have well defined goals and remain focused on them.

There are so many things going on in most people’s lives that it is easy to get distracted and forget to energise what it is we are trying to achieve.

We get a great buzz from initiating an idea or a project. Then the enthusiasm can wane as we get distracted by the next great idea that is ready to take our attention and sometimes we don’t even complete the first task.

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to get the same buzz from finishing as we do from starting.

By being mindful and using a few tools it is easier to reach goals and the more often we achieve anything the easier it is to do it again.

So after you have spent time sitting with the initial idea, consider how your life will be impacted and what things will change when you achieve your desire. Then it’s time to put the plan in place.

Think carefully who you are going to share your plans with, don’t involve anyone who will dampen your enthusiasm. Keep the idea sharing

to those who will support and offer helpful advice.

Set yourself a reasonable time frame and every day make a move towards the goal.

Every day in some way large or small take a step in the direction of succeeding in your goal.

Tidy up any areas that might interfere with reaching the desired outcome. Finish any things that will make it easier to see the finish line.

Be aware of sabotage distractions. If you find yourself getting tangled in some minor drama that is taking your energy recognise that this is a limiting pattern and return your focus to achieving the original goal.

Be prepared to recognise that you might get what you want and reach your success in a different way than expected. Often the universe has other ideas on the best way to give you your success.

And finally when you have conclusion don’t forget the gratitude. By saying thank you to whatever unseen, non physical force you believe in, you are creating a pathway for more inspiration and guidance to keep you on the path toward achieving true success which is a higher consciousness and understanding your life path.

aked heart on the table, allow full view of the audience – never an easy thing to do!

However, artists demand this unmercifully from themselves by exploring the depth of emotions and to infuse these mysterious part of ourselves into art – a visual language of the soul. Presenting this rawness to the viewer is a powerful process of ‘being true to oneself’.

The realization of my heart’s longing for creating and experiencing sublime beauty and truth through art and living paves a winding path with many wild adventures in my life so far.

“It is not an easy path; however, it is certainly a rewarding way in creating an energized living.” I remind my head and others often.

“Sofan, you are a born artist,” I was often told as a child. However, my Chinese heritage did not support this artistic pursuit. Interior designer was the closest career path that I could express my creative self. It was not long lasting; six years later, I was in Chicago, a foreign land studying art in my early 20’s.

Living on an island, Australia, means living with many inconveniences and restrictions.

However, convenience doesn’t mean ‘easy’ in many ways and the heart knows it well. It denies access to human connection. My spiritual self belongs to nature and I realized this the first time I stood on Australian soil. An instant connection to the sacredness of this unique ecosystem established. My spirit soars. Once I have experienced this sublime beauty in my body and heart, I learn the direct knowledge comes from nature is powerful and is a rich source of subliminal inspiration for art and for living. Now I am working as an artist and living on an even smaller island.

Living on an island with an intimate connection with nature fuels my being and my art. There is no separation in the way I live and the way I create my artworks and business.

As Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.”

I have learnt that when I create something, no matter it is a piece of artwork, a business, a way to live or an action, it should energise me and awaken the spirit. So when my artworks and my actions go out to the world, they will be a source of inspiration for others.

I truly believe that we are all on our unique paths in life and seeking the highest and truest expression of ourselves. We are all the same and there is no exception. If my artwork can remind you, encourage you and be with you on the journey to a meaningful living – well, that makes my life worthwhile.

We are artists who have dedicated our lives to creating paintings and sculptures about love and happiness which uplift and inspire other people.

Palo Santo ‘holy wood’

P

alo Santo – we knew nothing of its history, significance or smell prior to a friend, Francoise, returning from the Easter Islands. She came bearing gifts of the wood with a vivacious and glowing review of its beautiful scent and wonderful cleansing smoke.

Here at Gnostic Forest, these small strips of pale coloured timber have now entered our incense lexicon.

The tree, Bursea Gravolens, grows in numerous regions of South America, primarily Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, parts of Colombia and Galapagos.

Used for the relief from Asthma and Bronchitis traditionally and purported to relieve feelings of despondency and depression it’s found a place in modern culture being used as a smoke purifying tool. Burning the shards of timber is said to dispel negative energy and bring harmony to one’s mind and space.

Traditionally it was used to ward of negativity and allow seekers to gain a better communication with their gods. At the very least, it’s known to be a delicious smelling and effective mosquito repellant.

Prehispanic cultures, such as the Tiahuanaco and the Incas, understood the plant and its spirit well. There exists a symbiotic relationship with the fire ants who would often dwell inside it. The ants would happily clear away any competing plant species near the tree in exchange for shelter inside. According to the stories, anyone having committed a crime was tied to the tree and left for the fire ants to “discover”.

This special insect feature might be some of the reason that the timber isn’t traditionally felled, instead being left to die naturally.

It is said that there are female and male Palo Santo trees and the timbers from each differ. Male being lighter and whiter where the female timber is yellow, solid and heavy.

Respect for the spirit of this plant, and those who hold it sacred culturally, is important. Already with increasing international demand, the countries of Peru and Ecuador are endeavoring to set up sustainable harvesting projects. For this reason we encourage mindful use of it.

Naturally fallen (deadwood) trees are said to produce the best oil.

According to local shaman lore, fallen timbers that has not touched the earth (eg, branches) are said to contain the best benefits – those to lift the soul.

A marrying couple would plant this tree in the absence of witnesses to link their destinies so that the union lasts forever.

HEALING VIBRATIONS

E

verything vibrates. We vibrate, we are all vibrational beings. As such we are susceptible to vibrations in and around us.

My personal approach to Sound Healing is more from the intuitive yet practical, hands-on approach. Say, when we experience sickness, illness, disease, emotional imbalance, discomfort at any level, I see it as an imbalance in our natural vibration, in what we radiate.

Hence the expressions “You radiate!” when you are doing well/feeling great. Or you have “Such a nice vibe about you.”

As a Sound Healer, I don’t see myself as the one who heals. Sound, during a session, offers a variety of vibrations to hopefully resonate with your vibration at that moment, which can then bring balance back to the imbalance.

As a Healer in general, I believe all we do is strengthen another persons innate ability to heal themselves, remind their energetic memory that they have the strength themselves, not always be dependent on others.

INTENTION.…is everything! Anything that we do, with the right intention is so much more powerful or resonates so much more strongly, than for example something done with an ulterior motive.

When I prepare to facilitate my Sound Healing, I meditate for a moment and ask for guidance to help me do this from my highest good, for the highest good of all the beautiful souls present. I endeavour to put ego aside and actually ask my guides to help me, to give me that strength.

For example when I use the Didgeridoo for Healing...with the right intention....I feel kindred Spirit come in from the Land, to assist.

To experience a Sound Healing, you simply lie down, breathe and try to open yourself to allow the vibration of Sound find its natural way into your energy system and hopefully bring balance where needed.

The Importance of

Correct Detoxification U

nfortunately, we do live in a world where our environment affects our health. Fortunately, our liver is forgiving; however it will only support us if we support it, much the same as we change the oil and filter on our car. The gallbladder can develop sludge and stones if we don’t do a cleanse twice a year.

I prefer to focus on preventative health, rather than reactive where we have filled up all our bucket to the point of it overflowing. We all have a history of pathogen exposure that may include viruses such as the many herpes viruses and EBV which lie dormant in our system, parasites we may have picked up travelling, exposure to animals and young children or even from the local water supply and other more complex pathogens. We are now fortunate to be able to check these pathogens on the Quest Bio-resonance machine and determine if they are affecting the client physically or they have a past energetic resonance.

Our approach at The Natural Apothecary is as follows: ••Cleanse all channels of elimination according to the individual vitality of the client and their individual strengths and weaknesses.

This includes gut, liver, gallbladder, kidney and lymphatic systems.

••Support the stress response. This is so important, as a client in overdrive becomes an inflamed client. We must address the stress response and reduce inflammation.

••Ensure the client is sleeping well to enhance detoxification.

••Support the immune system as pathogens move in when this is weakened.

When we are competent the above is all supported we reduce the pathogenic load in a specific well thought out order.

1. We address mould number one, as a client in a mouldy environment will not fully recover.

2. Secondly, we do a parasite cleanse as these critters can house other pathogens so our goal is to move them out housed together.

3. Thirdly, we address the remaining more pathogenic bacteria that are generally chronic and need to be moved out slowly with more support. This may even include Lyme like infections and co-infections such as Borrellia, Bartonella and Babesia.

If the client has a chronic condition, it is important to use binders such as Toxaprevent to bind heavy metals and a specific organic chlorella pyrenoidosa.

It is important to consume clean water from a system such as the Zazen Water system which purifies, alkalizes and ionizes the water.

Alkalizing your system is also very important with BasIca Vital or lemon in water on rising and following an alkaline diet.

Chronic clients who have developed food sensitivities will require individual dietary support and need to follow one of the following diets: ••Gluten or grain free: Arthritic clients have great relief removing grains – “no grain, no pain.”

I make “Wellness paintings” especially created as a “wish” for a person to get better. These have stones and personal details merged into abstract form. I have had a series of paintings on an easel in Ettalong Diggers Foyer most of the year. I love to write plays, children’s books, and fantasy. I live and work on the Peninsula.

JANUARY: Jeordie Gray Ever since I can remember Art has always been a part of my life – from going to the mountain digging up clay so that I could design 3D shapes to selling my felted design jewellery and clothing. My passion and study in astrology has inspired me to create the newest collection in Chinese zodiacs. Using hand drawings and carving them into caricature pictures, with many textures of paint and material along with diamanté they are transformed into colourful artwork.

February: Sandy James Sandy has lived on the Central Coast for over 30 years. In that time she has had the privilege of residing in several areas of the coast and has come to know the beauty and fantastic lifestyle of the beaches, the bays, the mountains and the bountiful and pristine national parks. Pablo’s Arthouse is her studio name which has evolved to serve many creative children and adults alike in classes, workshops and events but at this point Sandy is focused on her own artistic pursuits inspired by travel on land and sea. Hand painted prints are inspired by her graphic art practice from the past and depict her love of the outdoors and the small focus scenes of her surroundings.

3 ways to BEAT THE BUSY! It’s that time of year again…

Friend: How have you been? We haven’t seen you in ages?

You: I’m so sorry – we have just been so Busy!

I know I have been very guilty of this statement. And I’m usually saying it to my best friends who I never see enough.

It wasn’t too long ago when I went back to work after having son number one. I thought I knew what Busy was without kids. Boy was I in for a shock!

So wake up. Get ready, get kids up, get kids ready, make sure kids have breakfast. Get out the door. Go to work, 8am because you have to leave work at a certain time, because daycare shuts at 6:00, doesn’t it? So, in the car or train, get there, get kids, get home, get dinner. No wonder I wanted to fall into a heap.

In 2017, we made the decision to turn our life around. We didn’t want to live with THAT sort of Busy anymore. What did we do?

STep one The first one is, and it’s a self-inquiry question, maybe it’s something you sit down with your partner and talk about. What do we really want from life? We had to do this, our life was getting so complicated, so hectic, we really G

wanted to enjoy the kids more, we wanted to enjoy life more. Take some time to think about it. Once you set the intention notice how you feel, allow that feeling to expand through you.

Connect with it and keep connecting with.

STep TWo Setting boundaries. Which will mean saying No. What do we need to eliminate from our life and/or start saying no to? You get one chance during this lifetime...how do...you...want...to... live...it?

STep Three The third and final tip, Self care. I’m aware this phrase can be over used. But whatever you want to call it we need time to ourselves to refill our energetic bucket. Because if we don’t, shit starts going south pretty quick!

If you can just find a minute each day to have some time to yourself. A conscious breath is a great place to start – breathe in, notice the pause. Breathe out, notice the pause. Start with one and build it up.

s this situation familiar? You’ve had a busy day, you’re physically and mentally exhausted but as you drag yourself into bed you miraculously and suddenly become wide awake. You start contemplating your future or re-living some event/memories of your past.

You start going through all the possible alternate outcomes to a life event or some experience of your past. What you could have done, what you should have said, how you would act differently if you had the opportunity. How you’d deal with that 4th grade bully if you could go back in time, you plan the perfect retort…

The self chatter may change direction and you start to explore the future, the possibilities are endless.

Samskaras are mental impressions left by all thoughts, actions and intentions an individual has ever experienced. Thoughts are repeated and recycled constantly which reflect mental and emotional states. Every time you relive a past experience, when you add to the story, change the ending or add another emotion, the neural pathway deepens and that particular thought process becomes a habit.

Noel Harrison offers a very good analogy: “As the images unwind, like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind.”

The thoughts go around and around and the cycle can’t be broken, the process is totally futile simply because you can’t change the past, it has happened. No matter how many times you relive the experience, whatever mental energy/ emotional energy you waste reliving an event you’ll never change the outcome. You can learn

TRAVEL EVERYWHERE Travel – we all know it’s good for the soul, but did you know it’s also good for your brain?

There is evidence to suggest that traveling can alter the way you interact with people and how you adapt to change. It can increase your confidence, making you more outgoing and open to new ideas.

In our everyday lives we tend to slip into a routine. We have similar conversations with similar people. We go to the same places. We even drive the same way to work. These routines tend to become neurological programs, we do them without even thinking. This can also close our minds to new possibilities and our brains effectively go into ‘autopilot’.

As neuroscience has discovered, ‘brain cells that fire together wire together’. Doing the same thing every day means that we are unintentionally firing and wiring the same neurological pathways.

When traveling, life becomes unpredictable.

You are experiencing new things, new places, new people. This means you are creating new connections in your brain, you are actually rewiring your brain to be able to adapt to the new and unfamiliar.

As Dr. Joe Dispenza says “brain cells that no longer fire together no longer wire together” so if you are looking to change your thoughts, your beliefs and your behaviours a great way to do that is to move yourself outside the comfort of your familiar life.

I recently returned from a month hiatus in Bali. Before I left I found myself in what I call the “security blanket” life – where everything is familiar, easy and well… boring. I had withdrawn from the world and felt like I was just going through the motions of my life while feeling incredibly unsatisfied. My mind was on autopilot, running through the same old thoughts day in and day out.

After a month abroad I have come back with a fresh perspective, new insights and buzzing with inspiration for where I want to focus my

energies. My thoughts have shifted to see limitless possibilities where before I saw repetition and dead ends.

The very physiology of my brain has changed.

I’ve created new pathways and rewired old ones simply by spending some time away from my everyday, known reality.

Our brains are plastic – they can be reshaped and re-wired, but only if we change the patterns of our lives. And what better way to do that than to explore this amazing Earth on which we dwell?

EARTH PIG

February 5th begins the Year of the Earth Pig. The last time the Year of the Pig coincided with an Earth Year was 1959. The next will be 2079. The Chinese zodiac has twelve signs and five elements, so it takes 60 years to move through the entire zodiac wheel.

What does the pig represent?

The Pig occupies the 12th and last position in the Chinese zodiac, symbolizing a compassionate, generous and sympathetic character. Those born under the zodiac sign of the Pig enjoy helping others but can often dedicate too much of their time and effort to this cause and rarely ask for help from others in return. The Pig values honesty and does what it can to maintain peace with others which, although admirable, is a trait which others can easily take advantage of.

Pigs are compatible with a Rabbit or Goat and incompatible with the Monkey and Snake.

According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Pig was late because he overslept. You may know people in your life who are born under the Chinese sign of the Pig and you might also notice their kindness and caring for others and their inability to keep conventional time.

They generally have a fortunate life and are born in the years of 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 or next year 2019.

What can we expect in 2019?

The Year of the Pig should settle into one of harmony. Things that start out uneasy will relax in time.

New friendships will last. It takes a lot for a Pig to get into a fight, so in 2019 we should see nicer news stories. The Pig is also known as the author of the Good Neighbour Policy – so expect a peaceful time with neighbours, problems should settle quickly.

Governments will work better together. Most people will work for one thing and it is Harmony.

Of course we may over celebrate, a careful eye could be needed when it comes to diet. When in trouble a Pig is the person to go to for help, so we are in for a good year!
