IMMUNIZATION RECORD REQUIREMENTS • All newly admitted students or newly re-admitted students must submit immunization records by close of business on the first day of classes.

• A late fee will be charged and a hold will be placed if immunization records or documentation are incomplete.

• Immunization requirements are mandated by the Commonwealth of Virginia and George Mason University policy #6004.

PREVENTION IS KEY • Many of these instances are preventable if students take the time to talk, listen, and get permission to proceed • The best way to prevent sexual assault or intimate partner violence is for students to communicate with their partner about expectations or desires and seek affirmative consent at every interaction, for every activity • If alcohol or drugs are involved, students have to be really sure they are able to provide affirmative consent; if they are not sure, they need to walk away Have a question? SEE SOMETHING? SAY AND DO SOMETHING • We ask students to look out for each other and to call for help if they think someone might be in trouble.

• If something was happening to your student and they needed help, you would want someone to call out to them, to call the police, or an RA on their behalf – to tell someone that something was wrong.

• Students don’t need a cape or to be a superhero – they just need to call for help.

WHAT STUDENTS REPORT When students make reports of sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate partner violence, stalking, sexual harassment, gender-based harassment, retaliation, and complicity, the following actions are possible: • • • • • •

Issuance of an administrative No Contact Order Requesting a formal or informal investigation Sending an email to their faculty letting them know they are “dealing” with something and will be back to class Switching sections of a class Having their work schedule altered Moving residence hall rooms

• Rave Guardian: Mason’s campus safety mobile application • Enhances preparedness and safety on-campus using interactive features • Allows students to create a network of friends, family and campus safety personnel • Includes anonymous, two-way crime reporting through text and picture messaging
