Officer showed Project Servator officers deployed in ‘overwhelming city centre to disrupt criminal activity kindness’ Project Servator is a policing tactic increase their fear of detection. NBO Damon Rostamian (15706) was praised for his efforts when he helped an elderly man who had fallen and broken his hip. Unable to move and trapped between two parked cars in the pouring rain, the man was quickly soaked through whilst waiting for an ambulance. An onlooker came across PC Rostamian, who was off duty and attending an appointment locally. After conducting a risk assessment, PC Rostamian managed to transport the man to the local A&E, after it became apparent that an ambulance wouldn’t get there for hours due to the weather. The daughter of the man said: “Damon offered amazing support and his kindness was overwhelming. He made sure my mother was contacted, and he even did a follow up call to my mother the next day, offering further support if needed, as my brother and I were out of the UK when the incident occurred. “I have spoken to Damon since returning from holiday and I was overwhelmed by the level of kindness and concern he showedand his offer of support if needed. “Damon is an amazing character, and I am certain this is evident in his work, and he is a true ambassador for GMP. It is humbling to come across such an individual and we will always be grateful to him for everything he did for my father.”

During the MTV EMAs, which took place at the Co-op Live arena on 10 November and saw various celebrities flock to Manchester’s newest indoor venue, officers were deployed in the surrounding areas to prevent any criminal activity and keep people safe. ‘Such amazing service’ A Hulme resident wrote in to thank GMP for ‘such amazing service and speed’ when they called recently, believing an intruder had broken in at the back of their house. They said: “Thank you so much for such brilliant service – to the officers on duty and the man on the phone (no details provided). We feel very safe knowing how great the force in Hulme is
and we are very sorry to have called – we believed there was an intruder, when it turned out to be someone we knew entering the house that I wasn’t aware of. We have made a system for letting each other know who is staying now. You really made the situation as good as it could be, as I was very scared on the phone and the team who arrived were very kind. Thank you very much.”
