Introduction It’s time to showcase your employability skills for a chance to WIN an Apple iPad and industry experience!

The world is changing and promoting sustainability helps create the innovative environments in which we can thrive, this is why we have created the GMIoT Sustainability Challenge.

The Challenge is the first of our competition series and is your chance to think critically about sustainability in a real world context and compete against other students at partner institutions within Greater Manchester.

The brief Consider your current course of study. Identify the specific area within this course that captures your greatest interest.

For instance, if you’re studying construction, does quantity surveying pique your curiosity?

If you’re a creative student, does the world of social media film-making interest you?

Create your entry by exploring how to enhance sustainability or implement sustainable practices using one of the four sustainability goals in your field of study.

Refer to page 8 for the available formats for submission.

Choose your goal Pick one of the following sustainability goals taken from the United Nations list.

Affordable and clean energy - Electrification, renewable energy, energy efficiency

Responsible consumption and production - Natural resource reliance, waste management, recycling

Sustainable cities and communities Municipal waste, air pollution, equality

Climate action - C arbon dioxide emissions, global warming, extreme weather

You may find overlap within these areas, and that is welcome

Entering

Who can enter?

Any current student who: • Has a valid college / university email address • Is a student studying a GMIoT partner course • Small teams of eligible students may create a collaborative entry

How will winners be picked?

Each GMIoT education provider will select two candidates to put forward to the grand finale. Winners will be selected from a jury of GMIoT industry partners.

How to enter Send your submission to info@gmiot.ac.uk. You can choose between two submission dates: 17th January 2025 or 14th June 2025

2 runners-up: £50 Amazon Gift Voucher * Team entries stand a chance to win a prize equivalent to the value of an Apple iPad, while our runner-up teams will be awarded the equivalent of a £50 Amazon voucher.
