Their Story - Alex and I became friends when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore in high school at Riverside High. We met when we were little on the Sugar Creek Swim Team, but I’ll skip the years in between (Go Sharks!). We started dating when I was a sophomore and he was a junior at Riverside. Things fell into place for us, and we both attended the University of South Carolina where Alex studied criminal justice and I studied education. After college we both moved back to Greenville and were lucky enough to find employment: Alex is a deputy for Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and I’m a middle school teacher for Greenville County Schools.

One cold February day, Alex and I decided to go to our favorite restaurant, Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse (of course) to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little bit early because he had to work on actual Valentine’s Day. We decided to take my dog, Copper, along with our friends Troy and Katelyn and their dog, Stella, to Falls Park downtown to walk the dogs and take pictures at the waterfall before dinner. Little did I know this was not a spontaneous trip that I thought was planned the same day that it happened. Katelyn was taking pictures of Alex and me when all of a sudden, I turn, and Alex is down on one knee opening a very fancy looking box. My jaw dropped, and the first thing I said to him was “Stand up!” because I knew I wanted to look him in the eyes when I said YES of course!

From that point we began planning our wedding. We married on June 23, 2017 at Covenant United Methodist Church and celebrated with a reception at Zen. We share our event and these wonderful wedding professionals who made our day most special.

Flashback exceeds your every expectation and ensures that your guests have the time of their lives. Each of the seasoned musicians in Flashback bring years of experience and unimaginable talent to the stage.

The core band consists of Lead Vocalist, Horn Player, and Keyboardist, Dwane Abney, Lead Vocalists Jessica Moore and Reggie Brown, Guitarist Arda Bagcioglu, High-Energy Drummer, Mike Graci, and Vocalist Monty Johnston, who also plays the Keyboards and a variety of Horns.

FlashBack was started in 1997 by three friends who grew up together and found a singer with the same desire to perform music. The original members were Darryl Parker, Brent Moore, Kenneth Pressley and Monty Johnston. In the fall of 1997 The Willis Blume Agency booked them for the first time at Duffers lounge in Santee, SC. It has been a fantastic ride ever since that three-day weekend in October 1997!

Greg Hall has been in the floral and event design industry for over 40 years, beginning with Hall’s Florist in Royston, Georgia. After purchasing the florist from his father in the 90s, he changed the focus from being an everyday flower shop and grew the company to designing over 200 weddings & events a year.

After Greg & Melissa tied the knot in 2014, Hall’s Florist was reinvented into the present Greg Hall and Company. With Melissa’s natural talent for styling, along with her passion for florals & event planning, she has taken the company to the next level.

We loved capturing photos at Lindsay and Alex’s wedding reception at Zen in June. The couple worked as ShutterBooth attendants through college and know firsthand the fun and memories their guests will be talking about for years to come. With ShutterBooth, they have the pictures to prove it.

Eastside Transportation not only tends to the needs of the bride & groom and bridal party, we can take care of your guest needs, as well.We can offer our guest shuttle service to and from each event. For example, we can transport your guests from their hotel to your wedding location and then to your reception. After the reception we will take them back to their hotel.

Lory and Josh have been making dynamic wedding art together since 2011. Lory is a widely published photographer, and Josh is primary videographer at DreamShots Photography & Films. They’re parents to three beautiful girls, and live on a small farm outside of Greenville, SC. Lory and Josh now create wedding photos and films together with a small crew of dedicated people who’ve been working together for over 3 years, so they can capture every key moment in the most beautiful way possible while keeping schedules on track, communication levels high, and preserving peace of mind for every couple. They’re proud that they get to work together at each wedding to create art in two VERY different mediums, and avoid the competitive spirit that commonly develops between professional artists with the same subject and different objectives. Whatever the situation, you can be sure that Lory and Josh are at your wedding for YOU, and will create the very best wedding art you can imagine.

n 1990, Kathy Norris began “Cakes by Kathy” in her home kitchen. A few years later, the name was changed to Kathy and Company at her daughter’s suggestion. Today, Kathy and Company is known throughout the upstate for wedding and specialty cakes that are not only beautiful but taste amazing. Kathy offers a wide selection of flavors, fillings and buttercreams.

All fondant cakes are made with pure white chocolate fondant which tastes better than anything on the market and will not become hard and chewy after it is applied to the cake. Kathy only offers homemade cakes and we promise on-time deliveries. Your guests will taste the difference!

Mandy Powell is a Wedding & Event Specialist. With 28 years of experience in all aspects of Event Coordinating. Prior to starting her own wedding planning business in 2007 she was involved in hotel management. Mandy was the Director of Catering Sales for the Westin Poinsett Hotel for 7 years.

In addition to opening the hotel and being the Director, she was the wedding specialist for the Poinsett. During her time at the Poinsett, she planned and orchestrated well over 400 weddings, every corporate event you could imagine from the smallest business meeting to the BMW PRO AM Charity Classic, spectacular galas, fundraisers, Holiday Parties, etc. She was the Director of Events for the Commerce Club for several years, and the Director of Sales for the Hampton Inn downtown Greenville, prior to starting her business. Mandy booked 12 weddings in the first 6 weeks without a business card! She knew in her heart then she was going to be able to do what she truly loves. Being a Greenville native, she has a strong advantage in our beautiful community. Mandy has built amazing professional and personal relationships with the top vendors all over South Carolina. She is also extremely familiar with the hotels and free-standing venues in the Greenville area, and has wonderful working relationships with them.
