LETTER FROM THE BALL CHAIR ERICK ELDRIDGE

Dear Friends,

Welcome to The Chic & Unique Ball: Step Into Burlesque! Tonight we gather not only to celebrate but also to lift the mission of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida. Our chorus sings so that LGBTQ+ people can live their truth through music that inspires, changes hearts, and affirms our shared humanity.

I am thrilled to see this vision come to life in such spectacular fashion. From the red carpet to the silent auction, from incredible performances to the poolside after-party, every detail has been designed to surprise and delight. As Director of Special Events at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, it has been my honor to help craft the décor and ambiance that will surround you this evening. Seminole Hard Rock has become a home for our chorus, and tonight it transforms into a stage for artistry, joy, and community.

Thank you for standing with us, for raising your paddle during the auction, and for joining us in song and celebration. Together, we create more than a beautiful evening; we make an impact that lasts long after the last note is sung. I also want to give a special shoutout to the Chic & Unique Ball committee and the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida staff for making tonight possible and a truly memorable night.

With gratitude and excitement, Erick

LETTER FROM THE BOARD CHAIR KERRY WALDEE

Dear Guests,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, I am delighted to welcome you to The Chic & Unique Ball! Tonight, we are not just celebrating artistry, generosity, and community, but we are doing so with a unique sparkle that only burlesque can bring. Your support ensures our chorus continues to fill concert halls and hearts across South Florida, reminding us all of the power of music to unite and uplift.

This evening is filled with instant-win games, a robust live auction, live performances, and a Golden Ticket drawing, but what matters most is the community gathered here. Together with former Board Chair Fred Boykin, I had the immense joy and privilege of planning tonight’s VIP reception. It was designed as a special moment to honor our partners and supporters, who make our mission possible.

As you sip cocktails, bid boldly, and enjoy the live entertainment, remember that you are not just guests but integral parts of this event. Every laugh, every cheer, every raised glass brings us closer to a world where all voices are heard, celebrated, and cherished. Thank you for believing in this vision and sharing your evening with us.

With appreciation and pride, Kerry

CORPORATE CRESCENDO AWARD DOUGLAS JACKSON PEW COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD

For over two decades, The Bears of South Florida (BOSFL) has grown into a thriving community organization with more than 3,400 members and 200 volunteers dedicated to philanthropy and fellowship. BOSFL provides a safe, welcoming space for the bear community to socialize while raising funds for local LGBTQ+ causes. Through its Grizzly Giving Program, the Bears have built a powerful model of community philanthropy. Members pay fees to attend BOSFL’s social activities, and these funds accumulate throughout the year to form the basis for the organization’s annual donations. While committees dedicate significant time to organizing events, those volunteer hours primarily support the fundraising activities themselves, which in turn provide grants to LGBTQ+ nonprofits, including arts and service organizations, such as the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida, the Pride Center at Equality Park, Island City Stage, and more. In 2024 alone, the Bears awarded $100,000 in grants to 12 local LGBTQ+ nonprofits, a testament to the transformative power of their generosity. This remarkable impact underscores BOSFL’s mission of giving back and strengthening the community, inspiring hope and optimism for the future.

BOSFL’s lively calendar of events combines fun with fundraising, featuring GMCSF. One beloved tradition is the annual Teddy Bear Drive around Thanksgiving, where members collect stuffed bears and donations for children in local hospitals. The group also co-hosts Community Sing-Alongs with GMCSF multiple times a year, inviting the public to join in joyful song and camaraderie, fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity. Beyond these, BOSFL organizes tea dances, pool parties, movie nights, and more – social gatherings that double as fundraisers – and even sponsors concerts, including GMCSF performances, to uplift LGBTQ voices in the arts. Each initiative builds fellowship and exemplifies BOSFL’s motto of community through generosity, making everyone feel welcomed and part of a larger community.

In recognition of their outstanding leadership and dedication as “mission champions” for the Chorus, this honor celebrates BOSFL’s profound impact on South Florida’s LGBTQ+ community, saluting every member, volunteer, and supporter who has helped make a difference through this caring “bear” hug of an organization.

CAN Community Health is a nonprofit leader in healthcare, founded over 30 years ago to fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Florida. Today, CAN operates a network of clinics providing stigma-free, compassionate care for individuals living with HIV, hepatitis, and other STIs – ensuring access to life-saving treatment and support for all, regardless of ability to pay. With clinics across Florida and five different states, CAN has expanded its reach while staying true to its mission of breaking barriers to care and empowering wellness in every community it serves. Through education, outreach, and cutting-edge research, CAN not only delivers medical services but also fosters prevention and awareness to help end epidemics, providing reassurance and support to the LGBTQ+ community.

Beyond the clinic walls, CAN Community Health stands out as an exemplary community partner. The organization engages with and uplifts the LGBTQ+ community through collaborations and sponsorships that go far beyond healthcare. In South Florida, CAN has been a stalwart supporter of the arts and initiatives. By underwriting concerts and community events, CAN demonstrates that improving health is also about enriching the community’s cultural and social well-being. This visionary blend of corporate responsibility and community engagement has created a lasting, positive impact.

For these contributions, CAN Community Health is making a significant impact within the organization and the broader community. By amplifying voices and supporting organizations like GMCSF, CAN exemplifies the harmony of partnership, demonstrating that every voice matters and that every act of support helps the community grow stronger, healthier, and more connected. This prestigious award celebrates CAN’s commitment to service and its ongoing positive change, resonating across South Florida and beyond.

GAY MEN’S CHORUS OF SOUTH FLORIDA

ABOUT US

THE GAY MEN’S CHORUS OF SOUTH FLORIDA (GMCSF)

MISSION: We sing so that LGBTQ+ people can live their truth through quality music experiences that inspire audiences, open minds, change hearts, and affirm our common humanity. Vision: A diverse world united.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida (GMCSF) is a vibrant community of voices, blending generations and cultures in harmony with one mission: to shape a brighter, more inclusive future through music. GMCSF stands as a powerful force for advocacy, using the universal language of music to transcend social barriers and uplift the LGBTQ+ community.

With a roster of over 180 talented singers, GMCSF is the largest gay men’s chorus in the southeastern United States and one of the top ten LGBTQ+ choruses in the country. Our grand-scale concerts, meaningful community engagements, and volunteer-driven outreach touch lives throughout South Florida and beyond. Under the direction of Artistic Director Gabe Salazar, GMCSF captivates more than 35,000 live audience members annually, while welcoming over 72,000 visitors to its growing digital platform, gmcsf.org.

A significant milestone was reached in December 2016 when GMCSF partnered with Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood to present its holiday concert at Hard Rock Live. What began as a landmark event has evolved into a dynamic nine-year partnership rooted in music, visibility, and community impact. Today, Seminole Hard Rock continues to amplify its mission as the Amplified Season Sponsor and host of The Chic & Unique Ball, its signature fundraiser.

The Chorus welcomes singers of all identities who sing in the lower vocal range (Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, Bass), with auditions held throughout the season. Our impact reaches from Miami Heat and Miami Marlins Pride Nights to the International Gay Polo Tournament in Wellington and Treasure Coast Pride Fest at the Saint Lucie County Fairgrounds, driven by the heart and dedication of our volunteers. Whether on stage or in service, GMCSF stands united in building bridges and creating space where everyone can live their truth.

PEGASUS SOCIETY

WE’VE COME SO FAR IN OUR LIFETIME Let’s Keep the Momentum Going!

Many of us recall a time when television would never show two people of the same gender sharing a kiss... or holding hands. Now, we live in a time when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality. We’ve accomplished a great deal, yet there is still much more to do. Since the late 1970s, the LGBTQ+ Choral Movement has been a crucial tool for advocacy, unity, and education. GMCSF is proud to continue this legacy through our music. We are pleased to serve as cultural ambassadors for our community, providing a voice for those who may not have one. Help ensure this work continues by joining The Pegasus Society’s planned giving program. In addition, by including GMCSF in your estate planning, you can help sustain our organization and keep our voices active for many years to come.

We invite you to join the members of The Pegasus Society today. If you want to amend your current estate, contact Fiel Garcia at (954) 763-2266 ext. 111 or fgarcia@gmcsf.org.
