'IN HER WORDS'

How would you describe an ‘artist’ to a child? "An artist is someone who creates drawings, paintings and forms using colours, shapes and textures that help us to look at the world in new ways."

Is your studio pristine or ordered choas? "Neither pristine nor chaotic, somewhere in-between but more orderly than not!"

How important are your art titles to you?

“Important as they provide insight about the work’s inspiration and intention.”

Do you have a favourite ‘art’ word and why?

“Evocative - bringing strong images, memories, or feelings to mind.”

Everybody has a great ‘App’ idea. What’s yours? "One that tracks your environmental impact every day; a bit like calorie counting, so that you can be more aware of things to do to have a positive outcome. One probably already exists though."

How would you describe ‘blue’ to someone who is blind?

"I would take them to the ocean and let them smell and feel the water and ‘feel’ the sky."

What memorable responses have you had to your work? "Those from people who say they ‘love’ a piece and it makes them feel happy and especially when a new commission is forthcoming."

What do you think about when you’re alone in your car? "I’m usually listening, and singing along, to music or I may be listening to the world news and thinking about the environment and what more I can do to make a difference in the world."
