Index for prices
As is typically the case for this time of year, European and Asian markets are characterised at present by low activity and relatively weak demand. Tuna prices are rising again after a lull that has lasted several months but, in general, seafood prices are ranging from average to low. In the coming months, however, demand can be expected to pick up again as traders start preparing for the Christmas sales period.
GROUNDFISH Cod catches in Poland were very low in September, leading to substantial price increases on the back of moderate demand. Consumption of wet-salted cod fillets from frozen raw material (Gadus macrocephalus) is starting to rise, driven in large part by changing weather conditions – wet-salted cod is an ingredient primarily used for warm dishes.
