Index for prices
The summer months are one of the main consumption periods for seafood in Europe, especially in the southern part of the continent. Prices are generally high, but some declines are likely to materialize as the larger importers have already secured the supply required for the summer season.
GROUNDFISH Groundfish prices are falling at present due to improved catches, which is typical of the summer months. In Poland, catches are moderate, but prices have started to decline as demand weakens. Haddock production in Norway is good currently and prices have dropped to record low levels. Stable prices are reported for Alaska pollock in Moscow. Cod catches in Russia are likely to increase, as higher TACs have been agreed upon recently.
