Vision • Evaluate and improve adult outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities through research that will drive public policy in Utah. • Outcomes include improved health, employment, education, quality of life and economic impact.

• Strategic Directive: Develop practical and

actionable outcomes research for adults with ASD to identify what works and calculate economic return on investment for different interventions and supports.

• 2017 Key Objective: Develop partnerships for adult-focused initiatives; tie research to practical application.

Key Initiative: Data Stores • Inventory, Expand and Enhance Longitudinal Data Stores that can be leveraged in identifying what creates better outcomes

Key Deliverables • Analysis of Utah Registry for Autism & Developmental Disabilities (URAAD) • Link with Utah Population Data Base (UPDB) • Identify data sharing opportunities with agencies

Key Initiative: What Works • Establish a clearinghouse of models to highlight evidence-based best practices that drive improved outcomes

Key Deliverables • Inventory existing models • Research agenda for most promising interventions • Preparation for economic impact analysis

Key Initiative: Fast-to-Market Research Approach

• Develop a fast-tomarket research approach that includes the family unit in the research and leverages technology for automated data capture.

Key Deliverables • Join Utah Autism Initiative with review of published research & recommendations for measuring impact • Establish laboratory for applied research • Develop an Independent Living index.

Key Initiative: Fundraising • Secure funding for development of the applied research model and best practices clearinghouse

Key Deliverables • Identify potential partners & funding through awareness events • Fundraising with private donors, federal & state grants

Key Initiative: Public Awareness • Disseminate information to create awareness about adults with ASD • Engage media, organizations, & advocates

Key Deliverables • Bottom Line of Disabilities presentation • ‘Autism After 21’ Business Leader Breakfast • Optimizing Autism Workshop for adults with autism • Adult survey in Utah
