This book is a result of activities and regular meetings of the West Park Community Club founded in 2015 by elderly Caribbean women focussing on crafts covering knitting and sewing, making the Club a special focus for its members and anyone in the community regardless of their culture. Pastor Gary who managed the group got in touch with Cultural Consultant Pax Nindi who introduced the group to local artists such as Sandra Hall(Friction Arts) and applied for funds for the group to become a Club and expand their activities and members.
Heritage Lottery Community fund Small Grants was secured which allowed the group to learn more skills, buy sewing machines, laptops and Digital cameras which they learnt and documented the Heritage project to create an exhibition. Unfortunately when the exhibition was ready to be mounted COVID 19 kicked off so the only choice was to make the exhibition into a book put together by Pax Nindi working with the group.
We hope you will find the book inspiring.
