Over the academic year we hosted a variety of global leaders: former National Security Advisor LTG (R) H.R. McMaster; Ambassador and US Senator from AZ, Jeff Flake; Astronaut Cady Coleman; and Ambassadors Michael Polt, Deborah McCarthy, Laura Kennedy, and Ronald Neuman.

Wrapping up a fourth semester, Ambassador Michael Polt and LTG (R) Benjamin Freakley, US Army continue to inspire and mentor students in this dynamic and engaging leadership course. Learning from their cumulative leadership experience, students explore the foundations of character-driven leadership and increase their global literacy.
In the fall of ‘24, the Barrett in-residence global leader was Mr Roelf Meyer Mr Meyer taught a course on The Art of Peace and Conflict Negotiation, leveraging his experience as the chief government negotiator in the effort to end apartheid in South Africa and current work on ending conflicts around the world.


In spring of ‘25, Amanda Ellis, Executive Director, Asia-Pacific for the Global Institute of Sustainability and Innovation and Senior Director, Global Partnerships and Networks for the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory, returned to teach students about the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
