Michelangelo was a painter, sculptor, architect and poet, widely renowned a s an influe nt ial artist of the I ta lia n Rena iss a nce. He wa s b orn on March 6 , 1475 in Caprese, a sm a ll village, in Tusc a ny, It a l y a n d g rew u p in F lore nce. At a g e 1 3, he b e came an ap p rentice to painter Dom enico Ghi rlanda io, e nh a ncin g his skill s in mural painting a nd drawing. He then embarked o n his sculptural care e r, creating his fi rst m a jor a rt, “The B att le of the Ce ntaur s”. Re cog ni zin g hi s tale n t , a F l orentine ruler, Lorenzo de’ Medicri took him under his wing. While there, he studied under Bertoldo di Giovanni, a sculptor and b e came acq ua inted with important poets, sc hola rs a nd le a r ners . In 1 4 9 8 , he fini she d th e ‘Pietà , a well-k nown m a ste rpiece of the Vi rg in Ma ry hold i ng t he b od y of Christ, whic h is now showca sed in St . Pete r ’s B a s ilica in Vati can City. In 15 04 , his s culp t ure, ‘David’ gained popula rity for i ts enorm ity and s o phisticate d sculpti ng d e ta ils, sym bolizing the i ndependence of F l ore nt ine. In 15 0 8 , Miche l ang e l o was appointed by Pope Julius I I to paint t he ceiling of the Sistine Chapel of the Vatican. This painting was considered as one of his greatest achievements in the Western art history. Michelangelo died on February 18, 1564 and today, his works are celebrated for t heir techni cal maste r y a nd emotiona l depth by a rti sts a ll over the world. BRUSHING TALES: CRAFTING STORIES THROUGH ART Creative storytelling is an interesting process that happens in art. Even throughout history, famous artists have shared their stories through art – be it from cave paintings, to sculptures or masterpieces showcased in galleries. Art has always been a means for artists to communicate their experiences, imagination and beliefs. When children create visual artworks – they tell a story. Through their stories, they learn to express themselves in both the visual and narrative arts through various artistic mediums like drawing, painting, sculpture, collage or mixed media. Here are some of the few stages that occurs when a visual masterpiece unfolds a creative storyline:
Linking Reality and Fiction
Exploration of Themes
When creating art, children usually blend elements of reality and fiction into their imaginary narratives – an inspiration drawn from life-experiences, observations or emotions from their surroundings.
In the creation of stories, children also get to discover a variety of themes in their everyday lives, like friendships, adventure and environmental preservation.
Emotional Expression
Visual storylines also invite audiences to engage and connect with the artist’s perspective and emotions showcased in an artwork.
Exploration of colors, shapes, composition and art materials provide children the opportunity to process their thoughts, ideas and emotions.
Character Development
Creative storytelling through art encourages children to learn to create characters within the narrative itself with distinct traits, experiences and roles.

Sweet memories with Global Art Taman Mastiara I attended globalart back in 2008 and graduated in 2016. During this period, I was also in the performing arts community, where I ventured into music and dance. My memories with globalart were delightful as the sky was the limit when it came to creativity. My fondest memories were when I joined and won various local and international art competitions. I got to enhance my art skills and my passion for art grew. I was also more confident and visionary when I tapped into my artistic side. I wa s a n a r t tu to r fo r 5 ye ar s a nd still enjoy it a s a p a r t ti me care e r as I g et to share my p a ss i o n a n d kn ow l e d g e o n t h e im portance o f cre at i v i t y w i t h t he yo ung e r generation. globalart is a good program as children not only get to have a hands-on experience with drawing, painting and sculpting but they also gain a wide variety of soft skills that will later benefit them in life.

Hello from Damia and Danial This is a GREAT art program for children! My kids have been attending globalart for 5 and 7 years now and they always look forward to each session. This is a superb program for children to enhance their creativity and spend their time wisely.

From Science to Canvas After decades of studying and teaching in the field of science, I finally ventured into the field of art. Initially, I thought it was impossible, but now, I am an art teacher.
