This term has been an especially eventful and active one, with Literary, Music and Space Festivals as well as plenty of hands on learning for Pre-Prep with their “Superhumans” theme.

Runaway Success We are thrilled for Emily, whose hard work and dedication to training has really paid off for her this Cross Country Season, as, after a very successful series of meets, and being selected for the Dorset Squad, she was then picked for the England Team. Many congratulations indeed!

Musical Extravaganza

Phew! What a tuneful term! The music clubs have been bursting with enthusiasm, and in addition to the numerous minirecitals, we had a very special week of music-making in our Music Festival. The highlight of the term, however, was our very own Last Night of the Proms, with all the accompanying Pomp and Circumstance (and tooters and flags of course!) befitting such an occasion. The evening concluded to rapturous applause and a standing ovation. Thank you to all the children, parents and staff who worked together to make the evening such a resounding success.

Beyond... in Space Week A Stargazing Night to remember

What a superb evening of stargazing activities space movies, displays and demonstrations by the Crewkerne Astronomical Society, rocket building stations, 3D constellation construction with marshmallows, and perhaps

the biggest hit of the night, Virtual Reality headsets, taking the children on journeys across the moon and inside the International Space Station

It has been a packed term on the sporting front, with some exciting matches across the board, and although our focus is on long term athlete development and building skills and teamwork, we can still celebrate an excellent season on the netball courts and the hockey pitches, with a number of teams, including the U9A & B teams, chalking up and unbeaten season. What has stood out most to our coaches, however, is the superb way in which our players are supporting each other and encouraging each other, communicating, congratulating others on successful moves, and reassuring or encouraging each other when things did not go as planned. THIS is what teamwork is all about.

In addition to Netball and Hockey, we have also enjoyed some Rugby Sevens, and a great term of Cross Country, with Emily Shaw performing brilliantly and being selected to Represent England in Cross Country Internationals. Our swimmers have put in a great term’s work under the guidance of Aaron Rickhuss, and our Karate Kids are looking very colourful, having all been successful in a tough grading exam. Keep it up everyone!

Year 5 Present... A Chinese Tale

Year 5 impressed their audience of parents and peers with a delightful and characterful performance of a traditional Chinese tale, scripted by Mrs Green. The play gave us much food for thought about greed, generosity and the perils of too much curiosity!

Pre-Prep Superhumans Our Pre-Prep children have had an amazing term of exciting adventures and activities, during which we have learnt so much about all the brilliant things the human body can do. Our term topic, “Superhumans” has been a wonderful theme through which to develop the children’s reading, creative writing, maths, science, art, music... in fact every area of our curriculum!

Our Reception class enjoyed a very special Italian Day, practising their songs and dancing, and then visiting Tamburino’s, our lovely local restaurant, to learn about pizza making. Thank you Mr Taravella - you must have been exhausted after training up 14 new chefs!

Family fun at Burns Night and the Music Quiz

Our families certainly know how to have some fun, and this term was no exception. After a brilliant Burns Night, a highly entertaining Fish and Chip Quiz Supper ensued (sorry no photos this time) and later in the term a funpacked family music quiz.
