h Westcott 1920 – 2020 Westcott 100

Westcott was opened as a boarding house in 1920 and, due to the success of the School in recent years, is becoming a Sherborne boarding house once more.

Westcott will allow the School to reach a record 650 boys, more than ever before, but will need a complete overhaul to ensure it is fit for the modern needs of a boarding house for Sherborne.

The School is aware that the House’s reopening has been welcomed by many Old Westcottians, and is very pleased that both ‘h’ and the ‘black and white’ colours will be returning to Sherborne parlance.

This document reflects the history of the House as well as the new layout, which incorporates the retention of some of Westcott’s best remembered aspects.

We are also keen to offer old Westcottians a role in shaping the House by supporting the cost of the refurbishment.

In 2020, the House will be 100 years old, and we are seeking the support of 100 Old Westcottians to become the ‘Westcott 100’ who will be honoured in the House.

The Westcott 100 campaign is being managed by the Sherborne School Foundation under its new Sherborne 360° programme which is supporting the all-round excellence in education at Sherborne.

A Westcott 100 pledge card is enclosed with this brochure.

Westcott will be refurbished during 2020 and open to the boys by September 2021.
