Entry at 11+ and 13+
All girls are required to sit an entrance examination to the School. Entry can be via the Common Entrance, the Sherborne Girls Entrance Examination or the Scholarship Examinations. Papers in English, Mathematics and Science are required. A small number of places may also be offered at 12+ and 14+.
Pre-Assessment
A pre-assessment will take place 18 months preceding entry for those starting at 13+.
Offer and Acceptance of a Place at Sherborne Girls
If you are offered a place at Sherborne Girls we ask you to complete the Parent Contract form which, together with the deposit, then guarantees the place. A New Girls’ pack will then be forwarded to you with all the information you need for the start of term.
Deposit Required
School References
A deposit is payable between one and two years before entry to the School, (one term’s fees for pupils living overseas). The deposit reserves the House Place.
Sixth Form Entry
Sherborne Girls offers a number of scholarships, exhibitions and bursaries. Details of the awards are available from our website www.sherborne.com or the Admissions Office.
A reference will be requested from the current school in the year preceding entry. This report will include predicted grades for public examinations such as GCSE or Common Entrance. A limited number of places are offered for the Sixth Form to study A Level or the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Candidates are usually expected to gain at least 5 grade Bs at GCSE or the equivalent. Offers are usually given on the basis of school reports and predicted grades, but entrance papers may be required in some cases. Detailed information about courses is available from our website www.sherborne.com

Guardians
All girls whose parents are resident abroad must have guardians in the UK. Guardians are responsible for the girl’s welfare whilst she is away at boarding school, travel arrangements, accommodation at closed exeat weekends and half-term holiday and represent parents at meetings with teachers. It is the responsibility of parents to appoint guardians although the School is happy to inform parents of professional guardianship organisations. Girls from outside the EU will require a visa from UKBA.
Travel
For girls who live abroad there is a supervised coach to Heathrow at the beginning and end of term which is timed to coincide with the majority of flight times. For fixed exeats and half-term holidays there is a scheduled train to London on which girls are accompanied by a member of staff.

18166_Layout 1 08/09/2014 15:02 Page 12
1 The Fees – cover the normal curriculum together with most books and stationery. 2 Extras – other costs incurred by the School or the pupil on the parent’s behalf will be charged as extras. 3 Review – fees and extras are subject to annual review and periodic increase. 4 Payment of School Fees in Advance – The Governors of Sherborne Girls commend to you the School’s scheme for paying all or part of the fees each term by capital payments in advance. This provides a credit against each term’s fees for the length of time a girl is at the School up to a maximum of 21 terms. The School’s scheme is competitive and is regularly reviewed to ensure it remains so. Use of the scheme helps the School and thus benefits both present parents and future generations. Up-to-date quotations based on current market rates will be provided by the Bursar who will also be pleased to provide any further information required. T. 01935 818206.
The Governors are advised that at present there is no liability for Income Tax or Inheritance Tax where payment is made either by a parent or legal guardian. If any other person makes the payment the normal rules regarding gifts apply and professional advice should be sought. 5 Sibling Fee Discount Scheme – Sherborne Girls, Sherborne School and Sherborne Prep operate a scheme whereby parents who educate a number of their children at the Schools are given a sibling fee discount. A 10% discount will apply to the third child at any of the Schools and 15% to the fourth and subsequent children. 6 Payment – fees are due and payable before the first day of each term. By concession, the School accepts payment of fees and extras by 10 instalments per year, paid by Standing Order. We are able to offer a full bill payment facility by direct debit. The direct debits will be processed three times a year, no sooner than the first day of each term. Please contact the Bursar for further details of these options.
7 Cheques – should be made payable to ‘Sherborne School for Girls’ and all correspondence regarding fees and extras should be addressed to the Bursar. For details of account number and sort code for a direct transfer please contact the Bursary. 8 School Fees Insurance – details are available from the Bursar. 9 Cancelling acceptance of a place or withdrawal – one full term’s notice in writing addressed to the Head is required to cancel acceptance of a place at the school or to withdraw a pupil from the School. If such notice is not given a term’s fees in lieu of notice will be immediately due and payable. These notes are subject to the Standard Terms and Conditions, a copy of which can be obtained from the Bursar’s office or on our website. www.sherborne.com Sherborne School for Girls is a company limited by Guarantee.
