DEVELOPMENT

for the Mulitz Theater 5 26 21

On May 26, the All-School Relay returned, as did Dragons Give Green, our annual day of giving. Runners’ families and friends watched from Dragon Stadium while students on campus and others at home watched a livestream. The Glens won both the boys’ and girls’ races, but all stood together as Dragons.

As we celebrated the return of this beloved GCS tradition, we also came together in giving back through Dragons Give Green. This year, Dragons Give Green benefited a campaign to renovate Mulitz Theater, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2022. Named in recognition of longtime GCS supporters Tommy and Shelley Mulitz, parents of Laura ’96 and Michelle ’02, the theater has been the heart of our acclaimed performing arts program for over two decades. Today, the space is in dire need of improvements to the lighting and sound systems as well as the stage rigging system and curtains. Approximately $100,000 is needed in upgrades to ensure safety and our continued ability to produce high-quality, innovative productions and programs.

Over $51,000 was raised on May 26, enough for renovations to proceed this summer. Many thanks to the parents, alumni, faculty, grandparents, and friends who have supported the project! We look forward to returning to a renovated Mulitz Theater for a fantastic 2021-2022 performing arts season.

THE CLASS OF 2021 LEGACY GIFT

The Class of 2021 left a wonderful legacy behind with the completion of Dragon Commons as their Legacy Gift Effort. This renovation was been a multi-year project started by the Class of 2018 and continued with the Classes of 2019 and 2020. This year, seniors, along with their families, raised over $22,000 to extend the patio, landscape the area, and provide new Adirondack chairs and convertible half picnic tables to use as an outdoor classroom. Most of the work was completed in March, allowing the Upper School students and faculty to enjoy the new space all spring. Thank you to all who supported this effort, and especially the Parent Committee of Tia George, Dawn Lucas, Julia Seipel, and Juju Singh.
