HOW YOUR ANNUAL FUND CONTRIBUTION HELPS PAVE THE WAY FOR

A Lifetime of Learning Join the Journey!

Welcome to Annual Fund 101. I am your homeroom teacher Mr. Giving and today we are going to learn about why the Annual Fund is important to GLENELG COUNTRY SCHOOL.

Are there any questions to start?

Why should I give? I already pay tuition and I thought it would cover my child’s needs. Excellent question to jumpstart our discussion. Tuition is fundamental to operating our school on a basic level but we must excel beyond minimum standards. The Annual Fund helps us rise above rudimentary means. It enhances our programs and resources allowing teachers and students access to the latest and greatest in research, equipment, and technological advancements.

Tuition covers 89% of the cost of a GCS education.

Why is tuition not enough to accomplish this type of advanced education? As a community we are deeply vested in the growth and development of Glenelg Country School. Tuition covers basic costs to run our school but is not enough to aid in the progress of our vision. Each year tuition increases incrementally but we want to keep these increases as small as possible. The Annual Fund helps us close the gap between tuition cost and the cost of providing a stellar education. Greater financial support enhances programs, leading to national recognition and increasing the value of a Glenelg Country School education.

I am beginning to understand but I cannot afford to give any more than what I pay. We appreciate your concern and we want to assure you that we are not asking you to give more than you can manage. Your family is important to our vision, your vision. This is a community goal. We are only asking that you participate and give something. The only gift too small is no gift at all.

What is your participation goal for this year? Our goal this year is to get our entire community on board with the Annual Fund. It is not about a dollar amount; it is about us standing together and working toward a shared dream— an advanced independent school education for our children. PARENT PARTICIPATION

Does the faculty give to the Annual Fund too? Yes! In fact, we have celebrated 100 percent faculty participation for over 10 years. Many of our teachers remember the very early days. You will learn more in your Humanities class next period.

Hello Everyone, I trust you enjoyed Ms. Good-Deed’s history lesson. Like all of our educators here, she is one of the finest teachers in the state.

I’m Mr. Earmark, the Head of Science and Technology at Glenelg Country School. The Science and Technology department is equipped with the newest tools on the market. Devices like our Raspberry Pi computers, 3D printers, research-grade refracting telescope, and weather transmitters allow students to launch weather balloons, explore deep space, develop complex robotic structures, and more.

It is exciting to see what is on the horizon in science research and technology development. Your Annual Fund donations help our department thrive. Did you know that a Glenelg Country School alum was named an MIT Innovator under 35? I am eager to see what your child accomplishes with the best at their fingertips. Now hustle and get ready for Athletics and Arts.

Hi Everyone, I’m Mrs. Bestow and I’m here to talk to you about Glenelg Country School’s Athletics and Arts programs. Let’s start with our student athletes. Training is the number one factor in creating a skilled sportsman. Tour our 35,000 square-foot Athletic Center and you will find it is equipped with a modern fitness facility, athletic conditioning room, wrestling room, locker rooms, and two basketball courts. Venture outdoors to our many sport fields, including our beautiful turf field, complete with press box. These accommodations help keep our athletes in peak physical form and our school spirit high.

Now on to our Visual and Performing Arts programs. Students can explore their talents for multiple art forms like drawing, painting, three-dimensional art, and photography, in addition to performing, stage craft, and instrumental instruction. When students are ready to showcase their talents, you are encouraged to attend an opening at one of our many art gallery spaces or watch a performance in our 350-seat Mulitz Theatre. Our outdoor theater in the woods also makes for a unique experience. Thanks Annual Fund for helping us flourish in the limelight! Time to pack up, but not so fast—you have a homework assignment!
