Children’s Classes and Programs PUPPETRY

The Puppet Co. Playhouse at Glen Echo Park is one of the few theatres designed exclusively for puppet shows and is the only year-round theater between New York and Atlanta dedicated entirely to the art of puppetry. This unique Washington D.C. area resource brings wonderful music and literature to life for students, teachers, and parents through live, fully-staged productions of some of the fnest children’s theater in the country. The Puppet Co. has approximately 20 productions in our Legacy repertory, including classics such as “The Wizard of Oz” and “Cinderella,” and has been debuting new productions since 2021. In 2022, over 16,500 people attended a show or event at the playhouse! We are delighted to put up our own shows as well as invite guest artists from across the country for our 2025 season!

BOX OFFICE HOURS

Wednesday-Sunday: 9:30am-3:30pm.

Please note, our lobby is open for all of our box ofce hours. We may ask you to come back to look at the displays a bit later if we’re in the middle of a show.

MAINSTAGE performances

Most shows start at 10:30am on weekdays and 11:30am and 1pm on the weekends. Check out our website for details about specifc shows at thepuppetco.org.

Ticket Prices for MAIN STAGE productions:

Adults and Children 2 Years and Older: $15

Adults must accompany children under 8 years old! Group rates (per person) are available with advance reservation through the Box Ofce:

• Groups of 20 or more: $12

• Groups of 50 or more: $10

• Groups of 100 or more: $9

TINY TOTS Performances

Tiny Tots starts at 10am, and is ofered on select Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays! Check out our website for details about specifc shows and dates at thepuppetco.org

Ticket Prices for TINY TOTS Performances:

Tickets are $8 and are required for all patrons 2 and up and for little ones who are starting to crawl or walk. Please help us make sure there’s enough space for everyone when you’re considering if your child needs a ticket.

Beale Street Puppets

Beale Street Puppets has been delighting family audiences since 1988 with its musical marionette shows!

Owner and Gracious Queen is Jill Kyle-Keith, who graduated in- cough cough- 1979 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance Theatre from the University of Maryland. Luckily for Jill, the theatre department at that time also taught puppetry, and she’s been working as a professional puppeteer ever since.

Penny’s Puppets

Penny Russell is a teaching artist and performer, and creates interactive and fun theatre experiences for our littlest friends! She specializes in inclusive works featuring movement, music, and use of ASL (puppet style permitting).

Beech Tree Puppets

Beech Tree Puppets features meaningful stories, artfully told with hand-crafted puppets and sets and the use of simple instruments and beautiful singing. They are beloved by those seeking a soothing morning at the theatre.
