Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll or a more challenging hike, Killarney’s walking trails provide the perfect way to explore the area’s natural beauty.

1. Tomies Wood Walk (9km, moderate) - This scenic route follows the shores of Lough Leane through Tomies Wood. The trail winds through the forest, crossing both the North and South Bridges, and includes a stop at the stunning O’Sullivan’s Cascade.

2. Gap of Dunloe Walk (12km, moderate) - Starting at Kate Kearney’s Cottage, this spectacular walk takes you through the famous Gap of Dunloe, flanked by the towering MacGillycuddy’s Reeks. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of streams, lakes, waterfalls, and rugged mountain landscapes.

3. Ross Island Walk (easy) - One of Killarney’s most accessible walks, this route offers stunning scenery with minimal effort. It features a 15th-century castle on the shores of Lough Leane, limestone formations, and Library Point, where you can take in views of Innisfallen Island.

4. Muckross Lake Loop Walk (moderate) - A picturesque circular walk beginning at Muckross House, this route follows the lakeshore, winding through Reenadinna Wood and along the western edge of Muckross Lake. Stop at Dinis Cottage before continuing along woodland and lakeside paths back to Muckross House.
