3, 4, 5, 6 12th - 16th July Mr Mastan / Mrs Atkinson mastans@glendowerprep.org 20 Fancy yourself a future programmer? Or maybe you want a career in the gaming industry? Perhaps you really love making 3D models? Or just want to learn new skills on the computer? This is the club for you! Over the course of the week, we will learn programming skills by making games, animations and even see how programmers can collect and present data. We’ll use programs like some block programs like Scratch but also use some Python, HTML and JavaScript. We will also have a day of 3D modelling with a chance to build your own Parthenon. You will leave with some projects that you have made yourself and will be able to take these home with you to keep.

Rec, 1, 2 19th - 20th July Mr Mastan / Mrs Atkinson mastans@glendowerprep.org 20 In this two-day club for the Lower School, you will have the chance to solve some challenging coding puzzles. You will learn about the importance of events, loops, conditional statements and sequencing in coding. The club will also include a short afternoon in the park on the second day and some “unplugged” programming activities to learn about algorithms. Budding programmers and beginners all welcome.

Creative Whizz Kids Years: Dates: Staff: E-mail: Places: Description:
1, 2, 3 12th - 16th July (Years 2, 3 – 10 places) 19th - 23rd July (Years 1, 2 – 20 places) Miss Greenlees / Miss Ede greenleesd@glendowerprep.org 10 (Group 1) 20 (Group 2) This club is a combination of fun and creative activities! We will begin each day with a hands-on, collaborative STEM activity, such as origami, jellybean building and Lego construction. This is to encourage the girls to develop their problem solving, creative thinking, teamwork, and communication skills in an exciting and engaging way. We will have a week-long arts and crafts project based on modelling with Papier Mache. The girls will design, make, and decorate their own creation, which they will then be able to take home at the end of the week. In the afternoons, we will head to Stanhope Gardens or Hyde Park for a picnic and afternoon of fun outdoor activities, including drama games, PE activities and scavenger hunts. N.B. Drama Queens Years: Dates: Staff: E-mail: Places: Description:
3, 4, 5, 6 19th - 23rd July Miss Martin martins@glendowerprep.org 10 Do you love using your imagination to create stories and characters? Are you eager to do some performing? Then join me for a week of drama! Each day will begin with fun games and improvisation activities with a performance element. There will be two main performance projects during the week. We will be planning, filming and editing our own silent movies. On the final day, we will view our movies while snacking on popcorn. A link will be sent home so that you can keep a “forever” copy. For our second project we will work on a Murder Mystery task! Everybody has an important part to play! You will have the opportunity to choose who you’d like to be in our story and we will develop these characters throughout the week. We will end each day with a short session of Rainbow Kids Yoga – this is a fun, interactive and social yoga style. A lovely way to enjoy a feeling of togetherness and calm down at the end of the day.

The main purpose of this club is for the children to have fun and play while speaking some French, developing their imagination, their confidence, their drama skills and their ability to work with others and make friends.

5 19th - 23rd July Miss Broughton / Mrs Hayes cenamory@glendowerprep.org 20 If you are looking for a little extra push, help and preparation for the upcoming 11+ examination, this is your club! During this week we will start every morning developing our mental arithmetic skills, learning different processes to do calculations. We will then move on to word problems. How many different ways do you think a puzzle can be solved? We will look at different papers and styles; we will work on timed activities and we will solve many mysteries – some murder cases and even a treasure hunt around the school! All of this using our best mathematical knowledge. We will also investigate certain topics and present and debate with the class – it will be great practice for your future interviews.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6 12th - 16th July Miss Slater / Mrs Samols slatera@glendowerprep.org 18 Glendower girls love to find out more about the world around them and many are avid readers of the National Geographic Kids magazine. This club will work towards creating a ‘National Glendower’ magazine containing a superb blend of photos, fun facts, and articles. Each day, we will whisk off to a different country and investigate the land, animals and people. We will be ‘Zoom’-ing all around the world to hold live interviews with people from different places and cultures; research different animals and spend our afternoons getting in touch with our more creative side, creating different national crafts and cooking national dishes!

Rec, 1 12th - 16th July Mrs Kalisher / Mrs Fulton milliek@glendowerprep.org / nicolef@glendowerprep.org 20 Imagination Lab is a fun and exciting week filled with both science and art activities. There will be food making and outdoor pursuits as well, to ensure children experience a well-rounded range of activities throughout the week. On our ‘imagination day’ children will immerse themselves in a world of rainbows, giant’s castle construction, magic potions and edible unicorn horns. Mini-botanists will dissect flowers, record their observations about nature and design butterflies that flutter using static electricity, and lots more! Through all our activities, we aim to develop children’s sense of curiosity, inquiry, collaboration and creativity.

Do you have a flair for creative writing and enjoy collecting new and interesting words? Then why not come to the Purple Pages summer club where you can try your hand at being a roving reporter in South Kensington! You are invited to the Glendower newsroom for the first week of the summer holiday where we will be working on putting together a newspaper. It will contain news and feature pieces in addition to any interviews or first-person pieces. You will receive a crash-course in journalism from Miss Mogridge who previously worked for the Daily Mail and BBC. You will take part in a news briefing, learn shorthand, edit each other’s pieces and even ‘hunt for’ a local story in South Kensington. There will also be a chance to create a video news bulletin!

3, 4, 5, 6 19th - 23rd July Miss Isaia valeriei@glendowerprep.org 10 The sewing and papier-mache club will teach girls simple embroidery and sewing techniques. They will have the opportunity to create their own look-a-like papier-mache puppet. The girls will sew their own clothes to fit the puppets. A hand-made cotton apron (standard size), a sewing kit and a wooden loop will be provided. After a therapeutic morning of producing their own personal work, we will think about designing our puppets. They will be made with a wooden support and the head will be modelled with papier-mache. Later in the week, the faces of the puppets will be painted. The girls will have time to plan and design outfits for their puppets. This club will benefit the girls as they will be required to strengthen their fine motor skills. Hand embroidery is the perfect way to learn about patience, expressing ourselves and boost confidence because the girls will end the week with two fantastic and unique pieces!

3, 4, 5, 12th - 16th July 19th - 23rd July Miss Lock lockk@glendowerprep.org 10 STEM is a type of learning which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The girls will explore these topics in an imaginative and inventive way to delve into a range of unique and forward-thinking possibilities. Throughout the course of the week, the girls will work both independently and collaboratively to design and create a variety of different tasks using a range of objects and resources. From activities such as creating rollercoasters using paper plates, to building the tallest 3D structure using marshmallows and raw spaghetti, the girls will develop their problem-solving skills and will be asked to think creatively and critically analyse. Rec 12th - 16th July 19th - 23rd July Miss Lombaard / Miss Pawle lombaardb@glendowerprep.org 15 Summer Explorers will be a week of arts and crafts, drama and movement. The activities will focus on stimulating the girls socially, physically and emotionally. It is a chance to ensure your daughter is gaining life skills outside of the classroom, exploring the outdoors and looking at nature through a closer lens. We will be exploring different flowers and leaves and recording our findings. Activities will include tie dyeing fabric and clothing, painting their own flowerpots, planting seeds, making festival garlands and getting their hands dirty.
