A World of Possibilities
W
e are thrilled to be able to offer our extra-curricular programme to Glendower students once again this Autumn Term. The primary aims of our extra-curricular provisions are to offer breadth of choice to all students and allow them to flourish outside of academics.
Clubs and extra-curricular activities promote a positive mindset and help students increase their confidence and focus, whilst decreasing feelings of anxiety. We encourage all students to take part in an extra-curricular club, whether that be inside or out of school. Please be mindful of striking the right balance of clubs for

The selection of clubs on offer at Glendower include Sports, Creativity, Film-making, Chess, Science, School Council, Skills, Music and many others. We are sure every Glendower girl will find something that captures her imagination and sparks a lifelong passion.

CLUBS AT GLENDOWER Welcome to the Clubs and Wraparound Care Brochure for Autumn 2023. You will find some new information here, so please read carefully and do ask if you have any questions. We hope that you enjoy this term’s programme and that the students find something that interests and inspires them. Please note that some clubs, FIT sessions or squads are invitation-only and these students and parents will be contacted prior to the opening for club bookings. Please note that all invitational sports clubs are free of charge. Information regarding our musical groups and ensembles will be sent separately by email from the Head of Music, and in advance of bookings opening. Please note that all of our musical emsemble groups are free of charge apart from Year 2 Singing Club. To simplify the booking process and to help families keep track of their daughter’s activities, we will be using SchoolCloud as a means of signing up and paying for ALL Clubs. Please note that you will need a PayPal account to book and confirm places on any paid club. Please note that we will now be limiting pupils to THREE clubs in total, therefore please be mindful of your daughter’s invitational clubs in addition to the clubs available on School Cloud. We hope that you will respect that limit, and seek the right balance for your daughter’s time before and after school. We would strongly recommend that younger girls are limited to one (or two) clubs per week. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email. Best Wishes Amelia Sinclair Assistant Head (Educational Operations) sinclaira@glendowerprep.org
Please ensure you read this booklet carefully. This booklet contains a breakdown of the clubs available, in alphabetical order, with the day, time and details of each club. Please note the list of days where clubs will not run for specific year groups due to clashes in the calendar. Please only book clubs in the knowledge that your daugther may miss these sessions. Refunds will not be issued for these missed sessions. It is important to note that once your daughter commits to a club, she must attend that club for the entire term, unless there are exceptional circumstances. Clubs are non-refundable once booked, and sessions not attended will still be charged. Please browse this booklet with your daughter to help her decide on the clubs she would like to attend.
Please read this booklet with your daughter to decide what clubs she would like to attend Clubs will be available to book from Thursday 13th July at 4pm. Please do not attempt to book any club prior to this date. Clubs will be booked on a first-come-first-served basis. Club booking will close at 7pm on Sunday 3rd September 2023. No clubs will be available to book after this time. Clubs will run from Monday 11th September - Friday 1st December 2023, excluding Half Term. Clubs are split into two types: internal and external. It is clearly stated in this booklet what club belongs to which category.
Internal
External
Internal clubs are run and organised by Glendower staff.
External clubs are run and organised by external companies that Glendower host in the school building.
All clubs will be booked and paid for via School Cloud from 4pm on Thursday 13th July. You can access School Cloud using your login details as previously issued. Payment must be made at the time of booking. Please ensure that you have a PayPal account.
All clubs your daughter takes part in will be visible on your School Cloud account including dates and times. Where appropriate, your booking contact details will be shared with External Club Providers in order that they may communicate regarding your daughter’s progress and regarding any special events.
The following dates are confirmed in the Calendar for Autumn 2023 which will mean that your daughter may not be able to attend her club on this day. Missing a club may be dependent on squad selection or specific event timings however we communicate these dates clearly so that you are aware of a possible clash. Please note that fixtures may still be added as the PE programme is still being finalised. As the club may continue to run for other year groups, we are unable to provide refunds or reduce the fees for individuals. Please only book the club if you are happy that your daughter may miss sessions on these occasions. Please also note that we may have to cancel clubs due to train or tube strikes which would impact our ability to maintain statutory ratios of staff to children. We are unable to offer refunds for cancellations due to these unforeseen cancellations that are out of our control.
Reminder: Clubs will run from Monday 11th September - Friday 1st December 2023, excluding Half Term.

Children will learn how to touch-type in a fun and engaging way. Touch-typing is a fantastic skill for children to have both now and in the future. The younger they learn the more natural it will become to them. Those who can touch-type produce twice the amount of work as those who “hunt and peck” at the keyboard. Touch-typing leads to fluency using a keyboard. When a child has mastered touch-typing they will have more time to focus on t eir ideas when working. Yoga offers numerous benefits for children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. Improving focus, memory, self-esteem, balance, strength and academic performance are just some of the many benefits children’s yoga has been shown to yield. Taught by an experienced yoga teacher and children’s yoga teacher, the classes will incorporate postures, breathing, relaxation, visualisation, games, music, meditative instruments and stories. Blending ancient wisdom with modern pedagogical techniques, Yoga Club aims to support children to reach their full potential through enjoyable and highly beneficial yoga classes. Date/Times
