Crookham’s Flodden memorial seeks new home

Disturbing the peace

The 11metre long Flodden Peace Timeline in the garden at Crookham United Reformed Church is likely to be moving later this year. The church itself closed last November and the building is due to be sold off.

This has raised the issue of what should happen to the information board which was put there during the 2013 Flodden 500 commemorations. It was originally designed and made in sections so should be able to be moved, though some parts may need repair. A site closer to the Flodden monument is being investigated where more people may see and enjoy it.

Crunch time for Wooler Neighbourhood Plan

A date has been set for the public vote on Wooler Neighbourhood Plan - June 10.

The plan lays out how Wooler’s future should be shaped - showing where new housing could be built, areas earmarked for industrial development or business and land which should remain green space. not to accept the plan. Information on where and how to vote was due to be sent out by Northumberland County Council as Glendale Live went to press.

Copies of the WNP are on the Parish Council website (see below *) with printed copies at the Cheviot Centre.

Wooler PC and the neighbourhood plan steering group urge all residents to vote, in person or by post, to make the town’s views known.
