MID-NOVEMBER 2024

GROWING TO GREATNESS - COG ‘BEAMS’ WITH PRIDE OVER CITY HALL MILESTONE

Excitement is building as the city just celebrated another milestone in the Downtown Campus Reinvestment Project. Mayor Jerry Weiers, our City Council, COG leadership and various Glendale employees joined the Okland Construction and Holly Street Studio design teams for a ceremony on the site just south of Glenn Drive and west of 58th Avenue. During this special event, Mayor Weiers, City Council members, city leaders and construction crew associates inscribed their names and messages on the final steel beam for the development. City Architect Eddie Garcia gave an update on the progress of the downtown project, which will include a parking garage, City Council Chambers, the E. Lowell Rogers amphitheater and the adjacent Murphy Park. Our City Hall campus was constructed in 1984 and needs a major facelift to remain usable for future decades. It is expected to be ready for move-in sometime in the spring of 2026. Check out this video produced by Alfredo Kaspar, our videographer/editor, capturing the beam signing ceremony.
