CHET FAKER Tuesday 24 June, 8pm One of the most unique artists of 2014.

In 2011, Nicholas Murphy recorded a cover of No Diggity late one night just for his friends. Shared by a handful of people, the song spread like wildfire until reaching #1 on the indie blog charts Hype Machine, and so the Chet Faker identity was born – a nod to Chet Baker’s singing style but incorporating influences from a youth spent producing house and disco.

Chet Faker was nominated for five Jagermeister Independent Music Awards, winning for Best Independent Single/EP and Breakthrough Independent Artist. He was also nominated for two Rolling Stone Awards for Best New Talent and Best Independent Release, winning Best Independent Release.

Faker’s debut album Built on Glass brings together all his influences from house to RnB, fused together with his smoky vocals.

ABORIGINAL CULTURAL ART STUDENTS 16 May – 20 July Spirit of Place is an exhibition showcasing local Aboriginal Cultural Art Students from the North Coast Institute of TAFE. The artists have responded to and explored aspects of their local environment and connection to the land to create a vibrant selection of works.

JO DAVIDSON: RECENT RIVER IMAGES 8 August – 7 September Jo Davidson is well known for her vibrant paintings that are inspired by the natural environment and her surroundings. Jo has had an extensive career within the visual arts and her work is represented in significant collections nationally including the National Gallery of Australia.

COURAGE TO CARE ORDINARY PEOPLE – EXTRAORDINARY ACTS on view: 18 July – 31 August 2014 The Courage to Care program and travelling exhibition is a community outreach initiative that demonstrates the importance of standing up to bullying and prejudice whenever it occurs.

Through stories of survivors of the Holocaust and their rescuers, told firsthand in person and through a 3D exhibition, Courage to Care empowers visitors to recognise that with their choices and actions they can make a difference when confronted with discrimination, prejudice and bullying.

Courage to Care invites the community and groups to take a FREE guided tour of the exhibition and meet one of the ‘living historians’ on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays at 3pm, or Sundays at 11am for the duration of the exhibition from 18 July - 31 August, at the Glasshouse Regional Gallery.

DRAWING INTO PAINTING WITH MICHAEL CUSACK

Saturday 28 June & Sunday 29 June, 10am – 4pm In this intense two-day workshop, participants will move from drawing to painting with a particular focus on mixed media. Using drawing and painting techniques, thinking about composition, mark making, and materiality, students will begin to work in a series through the use of several mediums. Suitable from complete beginner to experienced artists.
