Zo & Co is the latest incarnation of local Maleny cake designer Zoe Newton (formerly Cakes by Zoe). For the past seven years, Zoe has been delighting locals with her delicious custom cakes.

Since she has been in business, Zoe has seen many trends in wedding cakes and has noted the current trend is towards naked cakes with fresh, natural flowers instead of sugar flowers. “The naked cakes are beautiful but it is a little bit sad for me as I absolutely love making sugar decorations,� Zoe laughs. “But I always strive to make every bride’s personal cake dream come true so nothing is too much of a stretch.�

She says the most popular flavours now are fruit-based mudcakes and, of course, classic chocolate. Zoe hand makes all of her cakes from fresh, locally based ingredients so they taste just as good as they look.

Gone are the days of the simple fruit cake, though some brides will order it as their top tier so it can be frozen to use on their first anniversary. Zo & Co gives brides instructions to store and defrost top tiers and offers a re-icing service for just $20, complete with a paper posy to help celebrate their paper wedding anniversary.
