Hi Everyone... This week we are more than a little focused on Australia Day and all a the local events that are taking place as part of the annual celebration. Our front cover features a couple of youngsters who had the opportunity to enjoy the fun and games on offer at the Hinterland Aussie Day Expo last year. I reckon it’s safe to assume that there will be even more fun to be had this year at the Maleny event, and at the Glasshouse Mountains Sports Club, the Beerwah Hotel and the Mooloolah Valley Country Club, as well as at picnic grounds and in backyards throughout the area. I have to say that after reading about all the different activities planned at the various venues I am pretty confident that if an international tourist stumbled upon these events they would be a little surprised at what can be turned into a competition. At the Beerwah Hotel you can show your talent in the Australian slang, cooeeing or lamington eating competitions, while at the sports club at Glasshouse it’s not just lamingtons but a pie eating competition as well. Wow - we are such a talented bunch us Aussies! Whatever you decide to do on the day, I hope you enjoy it.
