Day 3 - Nantucket Island, Massachusetts Off the coast of Cape Cod, Nantucket Island captures you with its pristine beaches and historic vibe. Once the heart of a bustling 19th-century whaling industry, Nantucket’s downtown area is a living museum, with meticulously preserved buildings, all showcasing its rich history.

Day 4 - Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

Situated just south of Cape Cod and about 96 square miles in size, Marthas Vineyard is divided into six towns, each with its own distinct personality, from the busy harbor of Vineyard Haven to the quaint gingerbread cottages of Oak Bluffs. Add to this its charming farms and lighthouses and you can enjoy the island within a beautiful backdrop. Drop in on the alpacas at the Island Alpaca Company for an adorable treat.

Day 5 - Block Island, Rhode Island

The 31st Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, held on February 23, 2025, at the iconic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, was more than just a night of Hollywood glitz—it was a celebration of artistry, perseverance, and unity. Against the backdrop of recent wildfires that devastated Southern California, the event honored the dedication of actors while also recognizing the broader community’s resilience. For the second consecutive year, the ceremony was streamed live on Netflix, bringing fans worldwide into the heart of Hollywood’s grand festivities.

A NIGHT OF DISTINGUISHED HONORS

The world of film saw Conclave take home the prestigious award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The powerhouse ensemble, featuring Sergio Castellitto, Ralph Fiennes, John Lithgow, Lucian Msamati, Isabella Rossellini, and Stanley Tucci, was lauded for their compelling collective performance. Meanwhile, Timothée Chalamet’s mesmerizing portrayal in A Complete Unknown earned him Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, and Demi Moore’s gripping performance in The Substance secured her Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Television was equally celebrated, with Shōgun dominating the night by securing four major wins. Hiroyuki Sanada was awarded Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, while Anna Sawai received Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series. The show also claimed Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series, further cementing its place as one of the year’s most outstanding productions.

Comedy had its shining moments as well, with Only Murders in the Building standing out. Martin Short earned Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, and the show’s beloved trio—Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Short—secured Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Additionally, Jean Smart continued her reign in comedy with her third consecutive win for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Hacks.

JANE FONDA’S STIRRING CALL TO ACTION

A major highlight of the evening was the presentation of the SAG Life Achievement Award to the legendary Jane Fonda. At 87, the two-time Oscar winner and seven-time Golden Globe recipient delivered a powerful speech, urging unity and activism. “We are in our documentary moment. This is it. And it’s not a rehearsal,” she proclaimed, emphasizing the urgency of collective action in times of crisis. Known for her unwavering commitment to humanitarian and environmental causes, Fonda’s words left a lasting impact on the audience.

Adding to the evening’s allure, Gladys magazine’s very own Fashion Director, Olga Kwasniewski, had the privilege of serving as a judge for the Nominating Committee of the 31st SAG Awards. The natural disaster led to the cancellation of the in-person nominations announcement, prompting SAG-AFTRA to launch a disaster relief fund for its affected members.

Host Kristen Bell took a heartfelt moment to acknowledge the firefighters attending the event, calling them “the most attractive tables” among a room full of stars. SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director & Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland also paid tribute to first responders and journalists, stating, “Information is power, and the sacrifices journalists made protected us and our loved ones.”

RED CARPET MEMORABLE MOMENT IN MY LIFE: I had the privilege of showcasing a gorgeous bridesmaid gown from Mila Hoffman’s bridal line during New York Fashion week in the fall of 2023. I will never forget the feeling of walking the runway during New York Fashion Week. It was an amazing experience.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: I have had wonderful opportunities throughout the two years that I have been a model. I have been featured in many print magazines such as Coral, Luxia, and Ford Spain, to name a few, and most recently, Gladys. I have also done commercial modeling for Keithion Eyewear and Amazon. Besides walking the runway for Mila Hoffman in NYFW, I have also participated in local fashion shows for Aeropostale, Rue 21, and Charlotte Russe. There are lots of Gems in Beverly Hills from fashion to food and yes 90210, the famous zip code and tv show! A lifestyle and a reality to anyone who comes to live and breathe it!

And who doesn’t love all of the above?

So I want to share a very special place “The Hideaway” restaurant located in the heart of the Rodeo Collection. A perfect place to be seen in the scene, yet pretty hidden away. At The Hideaway, there’s always a familiar face to see there. Yes, iconic names that come in to indulge the authentic Mexican food and I sure know what authentic means with high standards as Mama Lulu, my mother is from Mexico City.

Additionally there’s always seasonal drinks with exotic fruits and of course the classic margaritas. “Jenny and the City” sees it as a charming “Old Hollywood” style place with the best customer service and of course I love taking photos there because .. yes they’re very Instagramable! And we do live in a social media driven world.

Let me share a few of my favorite dishes The tablita choice is superb! As kids we had happy meals, then you get into bento box and just having something set is so effortlessly delicious! So of course choices are endless but let me tell you what is my choice, because after all I’m such a foodie and love to share my choices! The Baja Tablita menu is served with arroz aka rice and it’s the best lime rice, beans, guacamole, fresh salsa, jalapenos, rajas, Italian ciopollini aka small delicious sautéed onions and your fresh handmade corn or flour tortillas. Now let’s get to the protein and yes there are veggies options but I’m kind of a meat girl, so the 8 oz New York strip paired with the lobster tail makes the best surf and turf.

Also new to the menu the Chef created the Pollo Fiesta and this is a MUST HAVE!!

You get juiciest grilled chicken breast on a hot skillet with sweet peppers, slow cooked onions and I love onions! It always enhances our palates! Some jalapeños and Oaxaca cheese so it’s almost like you get a fabulous marriage of a queso fundido with your chicken and you can make delicious tacos with the fresh made tortillas or have it protein style which clearly I don’t because the taste of home made tortillas is priceless! Talking about being on the scene and always having someone iconic, actress Sofia Vergara and her son created the Toma empanadas with the famous toma sauce. They’re on the menu so I highly recommend it! I loved the cheese empanadas.

I am a Rebel Athletic Talent, an Ambassador for Bow Love Boutique, and an experienced New York Fashion Week runway model. I also do print and runway modeling for several designers and businesses, such as Supermodels Unlimited Magazine, Marc Defang, House of Barretti, Bow Love Boutique, Gladys Magazine, and more. I hold several local and state pageant titles, and have been an Allstar Cheerleader for 7 years. I am also a cheerleader at my middle school, an Honor Roll student, and a Performance Choir member. I am heavily involved in my community and in volunteerism. My Platform or Service Initiative is called “Bella’s Big Picture”, and through that initiative, I work to assist individuals in need, spread love and encouragement to those who need it most, and put compassion into action to make the world a better place. With the support of generous friends, family, and corporate sponsors, such as the Toyota for Good program, in the last year, I have worked to fundraise and secure donations totaling over $5,000. I volunteer and hold fundraises for nonprofit organizations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities, The Salvation Army, my local City Mission, blessing boxes, food pantries, and CTC Food and Toy Drive. In addition, I teach others how to join in spreading love and compassion by looking at life through the “Big Picture” mindset. My motto, “It costs nothing to be kind”, is truly my way of life! MY MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT WAS when I went surfing in Hawaii. Hawaii is my favorite place that I have traveled to. While there I had a surfing contest with my two older sisters to see who could stay on the board the longest, and I won!

MY CAREER HIGHLIGHT - This was the hardest question for me to answer because I have truly loved every opportunity that I have been given! I loves pageantry, modeling, volunteering, and the friends and family that I have gained through these experiences.

ONE THING THAT MANY PEOPLE WOULD NOT KNOW ABOUT ME IS that I have unilateral deafness. I am completely deaf in my right ear and hearing in my left. I’m currently learning ASL.

MY INSPIRING STORY:

This goes along with what most people would never know about me, but I have unilateral deafness and that means I am fully deaf in my right ear and hearing in my left ear. Prior to starting modeling and pageantry I had low self esteem and started experiencing anxiety. I felt like I didn’t fully belong anywhere because of being both a deaf and hearing person. However, since becoming more involved in pageantry and modeling I have built my self confidence, embraced my uniqueness as a hearing and deaf individual, and faced my anxiety. I believe in myself and know my worth. If anyone is experiencing anything similar I encourage them to reflect on their value, too!

A NOTE TO MY FANS: Don’t let your uniqueness make you feel inferior to others. Be humble, but don’t make yourself small. You have gifts that need to be shared with the world!

INSPIRED BY: I’m inspired by the generations of strong women who have come before me–especially my mother, Susan Fitzpatrick, who dedicated her entire life to making sure my sister and I had the best education possible, and my Mother-in-Law, Dr. Brenda Russell, who earned her doctorate while raising a son as a single mom, working full-time, and becoming a fearless advocate for victims of domestic violence. Additionally, I’m inspired by my beautiful sister, Anna Fitzpatrick Layer, whose selflessness and quiet grace and strength as a military wife and mom can shatter the foundation of mountains. I am also inspired by my 7 year old daughter, Brielle, who is and will always be my “reason why” for every breath I take.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN MY LIFE HAS BEEN: I’ve been blessed to have so many that it’s hard to choose–but I’d have to say the highlight was the night my husband Dillon proposed to me in 2011. I thought my friend and sister were dropping me off at my alma mater so my then-boyfriend could pick me up and take me out for a date night. Imagine my surprise when my friend handed me a handwritten letter from him, which ended up being the first in a series of four letters I found at four different locations on a scavenger hunt, each location being a place that held special meaning to us throughout our dating journey. The final destination was the restaurant where he had asked me to be his girlfriend a few years before, and he began to sing the song “All I Ask of You” from Phantom of the Opera, my favorite musical (I also performed many pieces from Phantom throughout high school and college, so the musical holds very special significance for us). As my future husband serenaded me, he gestured behind me to reveal a long line of my best friends, each holding a single lavender rose, coming towards us. My friends each handed me a rose, until the last person in line–my beloved father–handed his rose not to me, but to Dillon. Dillon took that rose, knelt down and asked me to marry him, and finally handed it to me… and inside was my ring. It was the most magical proposal I’ve ever heard of, and I can honestly say it was the best night of my entire life.

CAREER HIGHLIGHT: Refusing to give up and turning my struggle with intense Postpartum Anxiety, Postpartum Depression, and Secondary Tokophobia into a platform to help as many women with similar struggles as possible!

MY INSPIRING STORY IS: In 2019, when my daughter was 1, I finally had to admit that my Postpartum Anxiety and Depression was worsening instead of getting better. I was a shell of my former self, and I knew that I had to do something to challenge the anxiety that constantly ruled my life–so I decided to enter my first pageant! PPD and PPA can be very isolating, and I believed that, if I could get up on a stage and represent that struggle for other women, just maybe it would help someone else who was suffering to feel less alone.

Since I began my journey, I held two local titles and was crowned with a state title, a national title, and I am now currently the reigning International Mrs. East Coast. My platform is “Let’s Talk about Tokophobia: Maternal Mental Health Matters”, and I am a passionate advocate of maternal mental health issues across the board, with a special focus on the little-known condition of Toko phobia. Tokophobia is defined as an extreme fear of pregnancy and childbirth, and can be either Primary (a woman has never been pregnant or had a child), or Secondary (a woman has had a pregnancy and/or a child). Secondary Tokophobia, which I suffer from, is a type of PTSD that can result from a traumatic birthing experience, which I suffered from immediately following the birth of my daughter in 2018. It was only when I started doing my own research into what I was feeling and suffering through that I discovered Tokophobia even existed, and I finally had a name for what I was dealing with–and it led me to create a platform around it with a mission to educate and help as many women as possible. During my reign as International Mrs. East Coast, I aim to create accessible educational resources about Tokophobia, a podcast where I talk openly about it with other survivors and mental health professionals, create support groups led by mental health professionals for women who suffer from Tokophobia and their partners, and so much more. Throughout my entire pageant journey, I have had one mission in two parts: Help as many women as possible, and make my husband and daughter proud. Remember always to be kind to yourself–in a day and age where social media presents the seemingly “perfect” of other people’s lives just remember: don’t compare your “behind-the-scenes footage” to someone else’s “highlight reel”. Robert Shields is a one-man creative machine who has spent his life sharing his sense of energy, awe, and wonder with people all over the world.

After graduating from school at North Hollywood High, Shields left for Canada to join a traveling circus as Robbie the Robot. Discovered by Marcel Marceau at the age of eighteen, he was offered a full scholarship at Marceau’s school in Paris. His apprenticeship was short-lived as he felt the need to develop his own style and pry mime loose from its artsy pedestal.

Robert chose San Francisco as his outdoor stage and for seven years used his wit, sensitivity, imagination, and agility to fascinate his audience. As San Francisco’s main tourist attraction at the young age of 19, his talents led him to a television show as half of the famous duo, Shields and Yarnell. Shields and Yarnell also won the Las Vegas Entertainers of the Year award two years in a row and together appeared on over 400 national television shows.

Robert Shields’ original scripted television special Toys on the Town earned Shields and Yarnell an Emmy. Shields is credited for being the originator of the Robot. Transitioning between creative mime to a creative jeweler, sculptor, and painter was a natural progression for Robert. WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE? I’m most grateful for my family’s health and my own because, at the end of the day, that’s

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Definitely becoming a member of the Sephora Squad 2025! The selection process is highly competitive, so it feels amazing to be part of such an inspiring group. One of the most surreal moments was seeing myself on a Times Square billboard the week the announcement was made. It was right above the Sephora store, a place where I’ve walked countless times, dreaming of moments like that. To see it actually happen felt unreal.

I don’t have much time to watch TV since I’m currently completing my English degree at the University of Virginia while working full-time. But whenever I do get a chance to relax, I love watching Suits - it motivates me with its sharp, dynamic energy. And for pure entertainment, I always turn to Friends. It’s like comfort food for the soul, and the characters genuinely feel like old friends.

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? Right now, I’m really focused on staying present with Rule Breakers as it’s my first film. I’m enjoying the premiere, screenings, and promotion, and I’m excited to share this story with the world! There’s nothing I can share about upcoming projects quite yet, but I’m excited for the challenging and meaningful roles ahead.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? My favorite carpet moment was at the “blue” carpet for the Human Rights Campaign Dinner in New York. It was my first time walking the carpet, and the photographers were so kind and patient. I went with a really close friend from college, and we had such a great time together. It was the perfect first moment!

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE? I’m most grateful for my family - my loving parents, my beautiful sister Ariana, and my little dog, Bella…she’s the love of my life! I’m also grateful for my health and my wonderful support system. I have a great team and amazing friends who always keep me grounded and help me stay focused on what matters.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Honestly, booking Rule Breakers is my proudest professional accomplishment. It was my first audition getting back into the industry, and my first booking, so it felt like a huge milestone. I was so excited about the story and inspired by the true events behind it. Getting my degrees from Penn also ranks up there for me!

SEEING THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER? Versace is definitely one of my favorites. The celebrity red carpet looks are stunning, and I’ll never forget Gigi Hadid’s butterfly gown - so feminine and powerful. I also saw Rami Al Ali’s Greek Mythology-inspired collection, and it completely blew me away. You simply can’t not feel beautiful wearing one of his dresses - truly magical.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING NOW?

I’m a little late to the hype, but I just started watching The White Lotus on a plane, and now I’m binging it whenever I get the chance so I can catch up for season 3. It’s such a great mix of suspense and humor, and Jennifer Coolidge’s performance is amazing!

As an American, the Uniqlo brand was a new one to me, but I pretty much cleared all my pieces and replaced them with Uniqlo. I keep joking with my wife that I’m aiming to be a Uniqlo spokesperson.

I recently wrapped filming The Neglected, where I play Josh Duhamel’s wife. It’s a movie that’s going to sit with people for a while. Season two of County Rescue premiered February 20th on Great American Family. I also wrote a musical screenplay I’m working on getting produced, as well as adapting my debut novel, As A Last Resort , into a screenplay. Lots of fun things in the pot right now.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? One of my very first red carpet events! I was trying to hide the fact that I was six months pregnant. Looking back, I wasn’t fooling anyone. I still show the picture to my son, who’s nine now, to remind him of his first red carpet moment.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE?

My husband. Our life right now is crazy with five kids under nine years old, and me chasing dreams in both the acting and writing worlds. He’s my absolute rock. I’m so thankful he’s such a selfless, kind and devoted partner. He’s cute too. So I lucked out.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

My debut novel will be published this September by one of the Big Five. It’s a goal I’ve been working towards for years. On the acting side, probably landing a series regular role in County Rescue. I love being involved in projects that my kids can watch and that they’re proud to show their friends.

WHAT PROJECTS YOU ARE CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

I’m currently promoting season 2 of “County Rescue” on Great American Family! It started streaming on Great American Pureflix in February and is airing on the Great American Family channel! I’m excited for the audience to learn more about all the characters this season as we dive in further to each of their stories! I have some other projects that will hopefully get off the ground soon, and I will be excited to share more on those later!

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? My favorite red carpet moment was at the 32nd Movieguide Awards! It was my second year attending as a presenter, and I got to walk the carpet and hang out with so many friends. I’ve been blessed to work with wonderful people this past year at Great American Family, so it felt like one big reunion and was very special.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE? My faith, my family, and my friends. At the end of the day, those are the things that matter most to me. As much as I love acting and creating stories, none of these doors would have opened for me had God not wanted them on my path, and the people I get to live life with make it so fulfilling.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

It’s been such a privilege to make content for over a year now with Great American Family. I’m very proud of “County Rescue” and the work I’ve gotten to do on that show. It’s a blessing to have now filmed two seasons, and the people involved are truly special. I have so much love for this cast! They are such talented artists, but even greater friends and like family to me. There’s so much heart in this show, not only from those of us on the screen but also from everyone behind the scenes. It’s a special environment. I personally relate to my character, Dani, and I hope others see parts of themselves in her. This show is for people of all ages and from all walks of life. The show’s story of hope is universal.

SEEING THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER? Ooo that’s such a tough question. I’ve been shopping day to day at Abercrombie and Aritzia a lot lately, but there’s so many big designers I would dream of wearing on the red carpet one day!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING NOW?

I’m always jumping around when it comes to TV shows, but one of my favorites ever is “This Is Us”. Every aspect of the show is beautiful. The writing, acting, and overall storytelling is near perfection. However, I warn you, don’t watch this show if you don’t want to cry. It will rip your heart out in so many ways, but it is a beautiful story of a family’s highs and lows. It is a reminder of how unexpected life can be, and that it is possible to come out on the other side as we celebrate the joys and grieve the hardships with those closest to us.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? A few years ago, I met Alan Alda on a red carpet. I told him I was a fellow actor and big fan, and congratulated him on his recent SAG Life Achievement award. He grabbed my hands, looked me in the eye, and told me to never give up and I’ll never forget it.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE? My mom.

My role on Long Bright River is definitely high on the list. I feel so honored and grateful to help tell a story that I think a lot of people will be able to relate to. I don’t think I know anyone who hasn’t personally been touched or affected by the opioid epidemic in some way, shape or form.

I recently returned from Sundance premiering the movie “Sunfish (& Other Stories on Green Lake).” It’s a beautifully nostalgic film that truly makes you slow down and realize the quiet moments may be the most transformative ones. I’m deeply grateful to be part of it. My next movie begins shooting in May — but I’m not allowed to talk about it yet!

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? I like mixing business and pleasure in my looks. For a recent film premiere, I wore a men’s tailored suit complete with a slim bolo and cropped tuxedo top. But if we’re talking about icons I love to follow, Sienna Miller who can do no wrong.

My faith. I truly believe I’m just a vessel and the light from above shining through me does the work. That and my family. You need people that stand by you no matter what the world has to offer — people to laugh with you and at you.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

I could be specific and say working on “Ozark” or “Day to Die,” which was one of Bruce Willis’ final films, but truly, my proudest moments are when someone tells me that something I did or said changed how they feel about themselves for the better. Being in relation with others and making a small, positive impact is all we really have.

SEEING THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER? I’m currently loving the romantic boho vibe that Chloe and Valentino showed on the runway at Paris fashion week. Saint Laurent did it with a gothic twist that was to die for. My fashion has always been a mixture of Grace Kelly meets Guns N Roses. Some of my daily go-tos combine a bit of classic Ralph Lauren with some spunk from Cynthia Rowley and perhaps a drop of sexy from Fleur Du Mal.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING NOW? When I’m not watching WW2 documentaries, I’ve been binging Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness” and Debora Cahn’s “The Diplomat”. Keri Russel and Zoe Saldana are powerhouses. Guess I’m in my female empowerment binging era. Shouldn’t we all be?

WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? I recently released a short proof-of-concept on YouTube called “(Practically) Gay” with the goal of drawing interest and excitement about a feature film that continues the story. It can be found on Short Frame on YouTube and got more than 4 million views in less than two weeks. In addition to that, I’ve got another feature idea I’ve started working on that is a Queer YA SciFi/ Mystery. In addition to writing, I’ve also produced a few short films that will be premiering in the spring festival circuit.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? That would have to be the Cinequest World Premiere of my first feature film, Auggie. Richard Kind starred in the film and came out for the premiere, to a sold out theater, and the pride I felt on that red carpet was overwhelming.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT? Auggie, my first feature film. I co-wrote, produced, and edited the film which we shot in my childhood home in CT after crowdfunding the production budget. It was such a labor of love and a really bold choice to decide that after producing two short films that we were ready to make a feature, but we got it done and the success of the film has been more than I could have hoped for.

SEEING THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER? I love wearing Buck Mason, but if we’re talking couture then I would have to say Christian Siriano. I’m a big fan of what he’s doing with inclusive fashion and his designs stop me in my tracks when I see them on the red carpet.

WHAT IS YOUR TV SHOW YOU ARE WATCHING NOW? I’m equally obsessed with Severance and Traitors. Severance is an incredible concept executed flawlessly. Also Britt Lower and I went to Northwestern together so it’s fun to see her shine in that role. And Traitors is probably the most fun reality show on television - good campy fun. Speaking of the Spring Fashion issue, Alan Cumming’s outfits on that show are such a joy to behold.

KNOWN FOR: American actress Kirby Ellwood gained recognition through her breathtaking performance in Kalos TV and Mini Shorts’ drama TV mini-series Final Call for Love which has over 22 million views. WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? Right now, I have two more vertical shows lined up. One that I’m especially excited about is The Billionaire’s Matchmaker, directed by Casey Jackson and starring myself alongside Jeff Violette. I truly think this is one of the best vertical shows I’ve ever done! It felt like all the stars aligned on set—everything just clicked perfectly, and the cast and crew were absolutely amazing. I couldn’t be more grateful to have worked with them, and I really hope I get the chance to work with them again soon!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? I’m still pretty new to red carpets, so I don’t have any crazy stories yet—but I actually did my first red carpet this year, and I was so nervous that my hands were shaking. I tried my best to play it cool, but I was convinced everyone could tell! However, when I watched the footage back, I looked so confident, which totally surprised me. Since then, I’ve gained a lot more confidence walking the carpet.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT?

I’d say how fast I’ve gotten at memorizing dialogue! Doing all these vertical shows has really strengthened that skill. It used to be something I struggled with, but now I can memorize 10-15 pages in a night—which still feels crazy to me! It’s definitely made my life so much easier.

SEEING AS THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DESIGNER? Right now, I’m obsessed with DUMEBI. I had the pleasure of wearing one of their pieces for a red carpet, and I was blown away by how stunning the design was—this gorgeous green velvet with embroidered flowers. WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? I’m really excited about a film I have at Sundance this year called Sunfish (And Other Stories on Green Lake). We shot it in Traverse City, Michigan around the lake it’s named after. The writer, director and producer Sierra Falconer is incredibly talented and this is a really outstanding debut feature. We had such an amazing cast and crew and the film is absolutely stunning. You will find yourself still thinking about it days later. I’m really excited for the world to see it. Other than that I’m developing a comedy feature film. It’s based in the South and is a mix of a lot of crazy and hilarious family stories, of which I have plenty. I’m also continuing to work on my passion project which is a feature about the Baby Scoop Era and the effects it had on the mothers and children involved. Two very different projects but I am enjoying the variety and excited about both.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? I had a movie called Pali Road at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival and wore this kind of wild long black mesh maxi dress. @iamigorsanaev did my hair in this really fun, long fishtail braid and @makeupbykai did the most beautiful natural yet smokey eyed makeup. It was a different look than I’d ever done before and I felt really beautiful and confident that day.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE? I have a whole lot to be grateful for but my family and my husband are at the top of the list. I have wonderful parents who helped guide me to be the woman I am today. My husband is my favorite person on the planet and not a day goes by that I am not grateful for him. We are such a good match and I feel very lucky to have met and married my person. He is such a wonderful man and partner and we laugh every single day. We love our daughter more than anything and I wouldn’t have her without him.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENT? The first feature I produced and starred in called The Riot Act. It’s a turn of the century thriller and it is by far my proudest accomplishment. Devon Parks was my producing partner on it and he also wrote and directed it. He is a talented artist and also a great friend. We went through so much in making and rolling out that film and it was filled with many ups and downs. I’m forever grateful that he is the person I was on that journey with and I am incredibly proud of the beautiful film we made.

SEEING THIS IS OUR SPRING FASHION ISSUE, who is your favorite designer? Brandon Maxwell! I’d probably give away everything I own to have a closet full of Brandon Maxwell.

MY FAVORITE RED CARPET MOMENT? At the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - To the Swordsmith Village premiere, I got to walk the carpet with my character, Nezuko. The character costumes come from Japan and are called “kigurumi.” They’re so adorable, and the actors inside never break character - even when there are no cameras around!

WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN YOUR LIFE?

I’m so grateful for my parents, who have been incredibly hard-working and supportive for my entire life.

This is such a hard question, but I might have to say singing the English version of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate theme, “Lifelight.” I’m a huge Nintendo fan, so this meant a lot to me. I still get nervous when I hear the song because it feels so surreal.

WHEN AND HOW DID YOU DECIDE THAT YOU WANTED TO BE A WRITER?

Over the course of my career I’ve been fortunate to encounter many companies that develop the military and intelligence capabilities deployed by the US and its NATO allies. As a big fan of Tom Clancy novels and the techno-thriller genre he created, I realized that my own experiences provided the insights and knowledge to write a hyper-realistic geopolitical thriller, one that could be inspired by actual events. The question was whether I could write a taut, sophisticated, and credible story that readers would see as an authentic and credible page-turner.

The idea for The Moldavian Gambit started to come together way back in the late-1990s, when I sketched out a partial draft of a manuscript that then gathered dust for a quarter of a century. In 2022, as the world watched Russia attempt to regain parts of its lost empire in Ukraine, the plot behind The Moldavian Gambit suddenly became very timely. The idea of a nuclear weapon being used for political blackmail was appealing to me, as this is a threat – with all of its catastrophic implications – that remains with us to this day. An undercurrent of political disinformation added layers of mystery and complexity to the story, providing an added through-line to current events. I knew that I needed to pick up where I had left off and complete the book.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

In writing The Moldavian Gambit I was inspired to tell a story that would be pure heart-pounding entertainment – a ‘perfect storm’ of suspense, intrigue and plausibility. But the book also serves as something of a warning: frustrated imperialism, nuclear weapons and political deception are a toxic brew with the potential to literally destroy the world. The Moldavian Gambit, with its echoes of current events in eastern Europe, uses fiction that could be fact to convey that message in a hopefully compelling way.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST BOOK?

Yes, The Moldavian Gambit is my first novel, but hopefully not the last. There is another ‘Gambit’ in the works, a new geopolitical thriller that also draws inspiration from some of the technologies, places, people and events I have been fortunate to observe. Stay tuned!

TELL US ABOUT THE MOLDAVIAN GAMBIT

The Moldavian Gambit is a fast-paced international tale of nuclear blackmail, political intrigue, and high-stakes espionage. As the Soviet Union implodes in the summer of 1991, a nuclear weapon is stolen from a secure Soviet armory in the eastern European republic of Moldavia. The search for the weapon – which may be armed to detonate in a matter of days – is complicated by a disinformation campaign that leads investigators in different, and seemingly contradictory directions. Paralyzed by conflicting intelligence, the White House and Kremlin careen toward a global nuclear conflagration that neither can control.

The action-packed story takes place over a 7-day period, unfolding across nearly a dozen locations on three continents with more than twenty important characters. There are four main protagonists – a legendary Israeli Mossad agent, a young KGB lieutenant colonel, and a brilliant American

My goal was to write a novel that would be seen as truly authentic by avid readers of techno-thrillers and by national security professionals alike. The Moldavian Gambit blurs the line between fact and fiction by incorporating accurate historical events, actual places, real intelligence capabilities, government agencies and military hardware, with complex, fallible characters and an edge-of-your-seat plot. The intent was to blend these together in a story that – had events unfolded slightly differently – could have been ripped from the headlines of the time.
