Jenny and the City

Christian’s Wine & Bar Restaurant Grand Opening!!

Jenny Leeser with the owner of Christian’s Wine and Bar Restaurant, Christian Navarro.

By Jenny Leeser, Jenny and the City Photos Courtesy of Jenny Leeser

If you have lived in Los Angeles you certainly would know of the famous and culinary visionary Christian Navarro. A man with a golden heart, an entrepreneur & restauranteur extraordinaire! I’ve know Christian for many years and I’ve seen his hard work and dedication, consequently whatever he touches turns into Gold. So buckle up and get ready because in the heart of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood Christian’s Wine and Bar has opened! And yes, Jenny and the City was invited to the exclusive Opening Night! A memorable celebration with all of his loyal friends & yes fans because once you know him and what he brings to the city you become a Christian fan. So let me tell you for the opening night you walked into caviar bumps or tastings and you all know my feelings for caviar! The staff welcomed you with the finest wine and Champagne and one of my very favorite ones is Billiecart Salmon a family owned and of course French Champagne since 1818 so that was my drink for the night nonetheless those cocktails looked amazing. There was a flow of hors d’ouvres that kept coming and that’s very important because let’s be real sometimes you go to an event and by the time the waiter gets to you the food is gone and then guests are looking for the food. But not at Christian’s I tried everything and it was the best energy good DJ and a wonderful night I even made two new friends that are Executive power Christian’s Wine Bar & Restaurant is a high-end dining spot on the Sunset Strip women in showbiz. created by renowned wine expert Christian Navarro. Located at 9000 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California, it features world-class wine pairings I had a fantastic time during the event and couldn’t wait to go back and live-fire cooking. christianswinebarandrestaurant.com as the menu looks like you want to try it all!! So I did come back and must I say everything that I ordered was 100% to my standards and you guys know how much I love food and knowing what is the best restaurant and what is it that you must order when you go there. So I started with the oysters that were delicious with a hibiscus foam and I could have ordered another dozen because they were excellent and so far for me the best oysters in LA are in San Laurel but I guess now they have competition. I also had the steak that had a perfect charred paired with the most delicious potatoes with a crunchy-crunch on the outside and the most tender flavor inside and yes my favorite steak has been The Helen cut at Dan Tana’s but this New York cut gave me what I most love, a perfect meat! The menu is big and there’s everything for everyone! The Caesar’s salad is always a good idea & there’s a lobster pot pie that is a house special. The fish and chips with the caviar is a must!! So I will be going back to keep trying everything on the menu! Congrats Christian wishing you the best! Xoxo

LOUIS VUITTON CRUISE 2027 SHOW: Naturally raw and sophisticated make-up inspired by the 70’s A tale of two cities. For the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière forges connection - between the distinct identities and realities of Paris and New York, and between the cities within that city, its dichotomies, its dualities. New York has always been comprised of multiple identities, divergent cultures and experiences fused. Never singular, it is an amalgamation - uptown and downtown, past and future, it is a place of alternate sensibilities and simultaneous attitudes. Beautiful contradiction, perfect differences. Dame Pat McGrath, Cosmetics Creative Director at Louis Vuitton, wanted to capture both the refinement of Paris with the downtown cool of New York in the 70’s with a naturally elegant and slightly raw make-up look. The emphasis was put on the eyes with softly contoured lids, applying LV Ombre 150 Beige Memento and LV Ombres 896 Monogram Rouge, in contrast with a more instinctive lip, blurred, almost perfectly stained in nude, berry and red tones using LV Baume 010 Nude Poetry and LV Crayon 896 Monogram Rouge*. louisvuitton.com

TAUNYA ZILKIE

The Co-founder & Designer

of

Interview by Jenny Leeser, Jenny and the City

Q&A

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU? I’m Taunya Zilkie, the co-founder and designer of ZETAYE. I’m a creative at heart. I’ve always been drawn to beauty, style, and the way something visual can make you feel. Before fashion, much of my life was rooted in the creative world, so design felt like a natural evolution for me. ZETAYE is really an expression of everything I love: elegance, strength, romance, faith, and the idea that beauty can be deeply transformative. WHAT’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE LIKE? No two days are ever exactly the same, which is both the beauty and the challenge of it. My days move between design, production, fabric decisions, fittings, emails, wholesale conversations, photo shoots, marketing, and constant problem solving. There is the glamorous side... beautiful clothes, editorials, and creative direction, but there is also the very real side of building a business: timelines, costs, manufacturing, shipping, and decisions all day long. One of the very best parts is getting to work alongside some incredible people who share my passion, drive, and determination. It’s creative chaos, but it’s mine — and I wouldn’t trade it. HOW AND WHEN DID YOU CREATE ZETAYE? I created ZETAYE in 2023 after feeling called to build something that reflected my own vision of luxury style: feminine, bold, romantic, and made with intention. I wanted to create pieces that felt special. Clothing that a woman puts on and instantly feels more beautiful, more confident, and more herself.

The brand officially began with that belief: that outer beauty can awaken inner strength and remind a woman of the beautiful, intentional creation she already is. WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT FASHION? I love that fashion can completely change how a woman feels. A dress is never just a dress when it makes someone stand taller, feel beautiful, or step into a room with more confidence. Fashion is emotional. It carries memory, mood, identity, and possibility. That is what I love most — the transformation. WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DESIGN A COLLECTION? I’m inspired by romance, vintage details, oldworld beauty, nature, travel, art, architecture, and strong women. Sometimes a collection begins with a fabric, sometimes with a silhouette, and sometimes with a feeling I want to capture. I’m always drawn to contrast... softness with strength, elegance with edge, femininity with confidence. Every collection begins as a vision and slowly unfolds into a story. On a more practical level, I’m also very motivated by the idea of making beautiful clothing easier to wear. I love designing pieces that solve real problems for women, whether it’s a built-in bra, an extra-strong zipper, body-smoothing lining, or hardware that replaces the need for jewelry. To me, true luxury is not only about how something looks, but how effortlessly it allows a woman to feel amazing.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF YOUR COLLECTION? The Avery Fleur Silk Dress is very close to my heart. The Italian silk, the dreamy rose garden print, the movement, the built-in bra and the way it delicately flows over the body... it really captures the feminine, romantic spirit of ZETAYE. HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE NAME ZETAYE? ZETAYE came from the letters of my own name, Taunya Zilkie. I wanted something personal but elevated — a name that felt like a luxury house, not just a label. It needed to feel distinctive, feminine, and memorable, while still carrying a piece of me in it. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD? I love the ocean, warm sunny days, beautiful architecture, good wine and incredible food, so many places come to mind! But my true favorite place in the world is where the people I love are and where my dogs are. That is where I find the most beauty, purpose and fulfillment. Our understanding of the world is changing very rapidly these days and it definitely makes you re-examine your priorities. More than ever, I just want to be exactly where God wants me to be and doing what He wants me to do, loving, serving and enjoying those that are in my life. That’s my favorite place to be. WHAT’S YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA? @taunyazilkie & @zetaye.thelabel Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026 37

Roses in Bloom: Boston’s 29th Annual Rose Garden Party Blossoms Into Another Sold-Out Success Written by Gladys Magazine Fashion Director of the Northeast Olga Fitkevich, Photography Courtesy of Michael Blanchard

Against the breathtaking backdrop of more than 3,000 roses in full bloom, Boston’s philanthropic, business, and cultural leaders gathered for one of the city’s most anticipated summer traditions—the 29th Annual Rose Garden Party. Held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the historic James P. Kelleher Rose Garden in the Back Bay Fens, the sold-out fundraiser welcomed approximately 450 guests for an unforgettable evening dedicated to supporting free arts and family programming throughout Boston’s public parks. Hosted by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Honorary Event Chair, alongside Event Chairs Howard Cohen and Myra Musicant, the annual celebration transformed the city’s treasured rose garden into an elegant outdoor soirée. Guests enjoyed live entertainment, festive cocktails, exceptional cuisine, and the beauty of one of Boston’s most picturesque landscapes while supporting a mission that continues to enrich communities across the city.

Following the event, Diana Fernandez Bibeau, Commissioner for Parks and Recreation and Deputy Chief of Open Space for Boston Parks and Recreation, expressed her gratitude: Tiffany Clark, Development manager of Boston parks and Recreation Department.

Mayor Michelle Wu was present throughout the evening, delivering an official welcome speech and connecting with guests, supporters, sponsors, and community leaders. Her participation highlighted the importance of Boston’s public parks as spaces that bring people together through arts, culture, and community programming. Diana Bibeau, Commissioner and Debuty Chief of Open Space

The Rose Garden Party serves as the premier fundraising event for ParkARTS, Boston Parks and Recreation’s beloved initiative that provides free concerts, outdoor movie nights, arts and crafts workshops, festivals, and cultural programming in neighborhood parks throughout Boston. Every dollar raised helps ensure that these family-friendly experiences remain accessible to residents of all ages, bringing creativity, connection, and joy to communities across the city. The evening’s overwhelming success reflected the generosity of Boston’s philanthropic community. Thanks to the support of sponsors, donors, and attendees, the event sold out completely, reaffirming the community’s commitment to preserving vibrant public spaces and expanding opportunities for families to experience the arts close to home. 40 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and supporters, the event was completely sold out. The funds raised will help us continue to enhance the City of Boston’s robust arts and cultural programming and the tradition of free and accessible, family-friendly activities in our local neighborhood parks.”One guest attending the event for the first time perfectly captured the spirit of the celebration: “As a first-time attendee at the Rose Garden Party, I was inspired by the enthusiastic support and energy that everyone brought to this event.” A Celebration of Style: The Great Hatsby Contest A beloved tradition of the Rose Garden Party is the annual Great Hatsby Hat Contest, where guests arrive in imaginative creations ranging from timeless elegance to bold artistic statements. This year’s competition celebrated originality, craftsmanship, and garden-inspired fashion, encouraging attendees to embrace their creativity and participate in the festive spirit of the evening. The distinguished panel of judges included Olga Fitkevich, Fashion Director of Gladys Magazine; Gustavo Leon; and Candice Wu, who selected the evening’s most creative and outstanding hats. The judges celebrated the artistry, individuality, and imagination displayed by attendees, making the contest one of the most memorable highlights of the celebration.

The Rose Garden Party continues to demonstrate how philanthropy can transform public spaces into vibrant centers of culture and connection. Through ParkARTS, thousands of Boston families will once again enjoy free concerts, outdoor movies, festivals, and arts programming throughout the year, ensuring that creativity remains accessible to everyone. With another remarkable evening now part of Boston’s history, anticipation is already building for the 30th Annual Rose Garden Party in 2027—a milestone celebration that promises to continue the tradition of cultivating beauty, community, and opportunity in the heart of the city.

An Evening of Entertainment and Culinary Excellence The evening’s entertainment was provided by Hot Mess, the acclaimed band voted Best of Boston, whose energetic performance brought guests to the dance floor and filled the garden with music and celebration. Adding to the sophistication of the evening was an exceptional dining experience provided by The Catered Affair, whose culinary artistry and outstanding service delighted guests throughout the celebration. From elegant cocktails to a beautifully curated dinner, every detail reflected the refinement and hospitality that define this signature Boston event. Together, the music, cuisine, garden setting, and stylish atmosphere created an eclectic evening celebrating fashion, garden elegance, philanthropy, and entertainment. The success of the Rose Garden Party was made possible through the generous support of its major sponsors, whose commitment helps sustain Boston’s parks and cultural initiatives year after year. Major Sponsors: Musicant Cohen Family Fund, Beacon Communities, Bank of America, Druker Company, Ltd. National Development + Cranshaw Construction, Samuels & Associates, FINN As twilight settled over the historic rose garden, guests lingered among fragrant blossoms, enjoying meaningful conversations, exceptional entertainment, and one of Boston’s most enchanting summer settings. The evening served as a beautiful reminder that public parks are more than green spaces—they are places where communities gather, families create memories, artists inspire audiences, and neighbors connect.

Betsey Johnson

Kimora Lee Simmons and Betsey Johnson come together for a 2026 Campaign that feels less unexpected and more long overdue. Both women didn’t just define the Y2K era, they shaped the way an entire generation approached fashion: bold, expressive, a little irreverent, and always accessible. This collaboration taps into that shared DNA, positioning them as like-minded forces whose impact still resonates in how style is created and consumed today. Shot alongside her daughter Ming Lee Simmons,, the imagery brings together two generations shaped by the same Y2K sensibility, where fashion was bold, playful, and deeply personal. Rather than looking back, it highlights how that era’s defining attitudes continue to show up today, reframed through a new lens. betseyjohnson.com

Gladys CoverStory

Q&A

Dear Andrea, tell us more about your early beginnings in the Fashion Industry? I started out in the fashion industry as a model & actress in Los Angeles which was an incredible way to learn about fashion, designers, photography and the creative process. In 1991, I launched Patrick Talent Agency, a nationwide modeling agency and we have worked with many fashion clients and beautiful models from all over the world. My dream has always been to empower and inspire people globally to achieve their dreams and I have dedicated my life towards this goal. Through my talent agency, clothing line, magazine, and our Gladys Magazine movement we are truly inspiring others to go after their dreams. I was always an entrepreneur at heart coming from a family that was self-made. I was being sought out to be a spokesperson nationwide for many years and saw a need in that industry for a fair talent agency to represent this field. I was responsible for providing the hosts for all three of the main shopping networks. I have been a columnist for a fashion magazine, designed a clothing line and then Gladys, the magazine which I started in 2009. I knew that I was destined to make a profound impact on people. It has been a blessing to be able to interview over a thousand men and women over the years and tell their inspiring stories through the audience of Gladys. Today, I am the Editor-in-Chief of the award-winning Gladys LLC and in this position, I have attracted readers, followers, and a powerful audience that was begging for more content, products, and services. I earned the relationships and influence of those I had previously worked with and brought them along on my Gladys journey. We are celebrating our 18th year of publishing in 2026 and our readership keeps growing! Gladys is available in print at newsstands across the country and in digital form through the website for our international audience.

Photography|FORTE Productions

What do you wish you had known about this industry before you started? The publishing industry isn’t just glamorous. It’s putting in very long hours and working hard to achieve your vision. We never wanted to be a throw-away magazine like so many are. Our customers tell us they save our magazines, they are keepsakes to be passed along. That touches my heart. In business and in life I have always trained my mind to see the good in every situation -always look for your Silver Lining.

WHAT DOES GLADYS STAND FOR? My mother Gladys was my inspiration for starting this magazine. She passed away in 2007 and she was a very fashionable, beautiful and inspiring woman. She taught me that I could do anything in my life if I worked hard and kept my values true. This magazine is dedicated to anyone who has been inspired to pursue their dreams by someone they love. We call them our Inspirations – our Gladys’s and we all have someone like that in our lives. Our magazine represents the values and qualities that my mother passed on to me sincerity, loyalty, fairness and integrity in everything we do. WHAT MAKES A GREAT EDITOR? The key to being a great Editor-in-Chief begins and ends with the power of relationships and serving your client’s needs. You must form a team to fill in your knowledge and talent gaps while supporting each other. There is strength in collaboration, beauty in communication, and respect in a job well done. I hand picked my Creative Director, Susan Fontaine, 18 years ago and it was one of my best decisions I ever made as she is hard working, dedicated, loyal and aligned with my values and vision. I’m so grateful for our long lasting relationship and friendship. HOW DO YOU BALANCE THE DESIRE TO HONOR THE GLADYS LEGACY WITH THE NEED TO MOVE IT FORWARD? Because our demographics range from 8 to 80, we like to feature all of the latest fashions along with featuring models who are just beginning their careers. Young girls aspire to be published in our magazine and we are thrilled to give them their start.

Photography|FORTE Productions

HOW DO YOU GET THE BEST OUT OF THE CREATIVES YOU ARE WORKING WITH? I try to inspire and empower those I work with to be as creative as they can be. I give them plenty of room to present their vision to me. It is a collaborative effort however, my vision and my gut decisions are what I rely on. There are so many decisions I need to make daily and after all is said and done, I either receive the praise or the criticism and I am responsible for making things work.

WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST LUXURY? Spending time with my incredible husband is my luxury. My husband gives me great advice with Gladys and he is my rock. We have created a beautiful life together and we try to live a life of true balance and love. My life has been a blessing and that is my greatest luxury.

Monte Durham Q&A

WHAT AN HONOR TO BE FEATURED IN THE GLADYS ANNIVERSARY ISSUE. My story started in 2013 with a photo shoot for the Wedding and Couture issue at Mansions on Fifth in Pittsburgh PA. I had no idea I would land on that cover and subsequently on two more in the not-so-distant future. The history of the magazine pulled at my heart strings, honoring a woman of grace, style, intelligence, caring and giving. Little did I know, then that 13 years later, we have jointly done some amazing projects together, all about fashion beauty, and styling along the way supporting innovative ideals creativity, and of course, the Gladys Girls. Whenever I need a dose of inspiration, I look no further than Gladys. All the Talent 64 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

and Beauty featured are inspiring, and definitely motivating. In Gladys Magazine, you will find the latest trends in Fashion, Beauty and Home as well as support for local Talent, in Entertainment, Runways, Photography, Music, and Literature. It’s informative, motivating, intriguing, but most importantly Inspiring.

Congratulations!!! Well done and done very well. ~ Monte Durham WHAT’S MONTE BEEN UP TO? In the past 13 years, I have been on the road quite a bit with “Say Yes To The Dress Atlanta” and “Say Yes To Prom” on TLC, opening a boutique hair salon in historic Old Town Alexandria, rebranding the MONTE Hair Care system, and designing a collection of Wedding Gowns. I now sit on two boards and still find time for volunteering with animal rescue, the USO, West Virginia, caring hospice, the national First Ladies Library & Museum and working with local charities. I’m now working on a new project, a story on Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Success is being able to face fear. Not being driven in the opposite direction by it, but moving toward the things that scare you. It’s being true to yourself and living authentically. IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? I’d love to work on a Vince Gilligan project. There’s so much intention behind every aspect of the work: the writing, directing, cinematography, and acting. Everything feels purposeful, and I really admire that level of storytelling. IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? I’d probably be working in a neuroscience lab and then eventually going to medical school. I was on that path for a hot minute, I like it, but I’m not passionate about it. Second choice would be doing interior design. And third would be a ski patrol (though with my skin, that job would require a bottle of sun block a day). Photgraphy|Jordan Tiberio

Taylor Talley is an entrepreneur, actress, and public advocate whose work spans entertainment, business, and philanthropy. As the public face of Talley Amusements, America’s Traveling Amusement Park, she has helped elevate her family business into a nationally recognized brand while leading high-profile partnerships and initiatives across the country. She is also the Founder and President of the Freedom Fighters Prevention, a program dedicated to preventing child trafficking through education, situational awareness, and empowerment for children and young women. The historic project marked the first Ferris wheel ever installed on the National Mall and became one of the celebration’s most recognizable symbols. WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure. As long as I’m always fulfilled in what I do, I will feel successful!

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? My dream director to work with is Tarantino. The way he uses movement to create a character and tell a story is incredible. A moment that really stuck with me was Margaret Qualley in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when she simply walks towards a bench and sits down. It says everything about her being a femme fatale and a villain. That’s very Tarantino coded. IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? It’s understanding that I have fulfillment in who I am, and that I have everything I need at every given moment in time. It’s knowing based on past experiences that I can entirely trust myself to execute all that I set out to do in a way that is both beneficial to myself as well as the endeavor that I am intending to be of service to. Being successful to me is a perspective that aligns with a life’s history and legacy that I am proud of. IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? Oprah Winfrey! I admire everything about her, including her self-development journey. Everything I understand about the way she moves through the world is an example to me. I aspire to contribute as she has contributed to building a better world. I perceive her to be the epitome of transformation and the most brilliant example of how your earlier life situations or circumstances can become paradoxically different than what you choose to ultimately become. She not only overcame her circumstances, she became a woman who grew into emulating the direct opposite of them. I, too, wish to be the change. I have so many ideas for talks she and I could have. I would love to have her on my podcast. I would love to ask her opinion on the topics of several of my books. I would love to co-host a benefit for Builders of a Better World. I would love for her to help sponsor events. I would love her permission to name one of our programs after her. IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? Her body of work spans feature films, television series, and award-winning projects including Rhythm or Smooth, I Dream of Hazel, West of Frank, Delusione, and Timeless Love. SOCIAL MEDIA: IG, @bretontynerbryan

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU?

Success is having the freedom to tell the stories that matter to me without compromising their truth. It is creating work that challenges, inspires, and moves people emotionally while continuing to grow as an artist and human being. Success also requires balance. Awards and recognition are wonderful, but success is ultimately measured by the impact of the work, the lives it touches, and the ability to build a sustainable creative life over time.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? There are so many. I would love the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as Ben Stiller, Helen Shaver, Luc Besson, Sofia Coppola, Pedro Almodóvar, Federico Fellini, Greg Berlanti, Mindy Kaling, and Charmaine DeGraté. Each of them has built a distinct creative voice while continuing to expand the possibilities of storytelling across film, television, comedy, and beyond. As for performers, I would love to work with artists such as Adam Sandler, Justin Min, Michael Chernus, Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, Willem Dafoe, Penélope Cruz, Caleb Landry Jones, Sophia Loren, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler. If I could collaborate across time, Lucille Ball would be at the top of the list. She wasn’t simply a brilliant performer. She was a visionary producer, entrepreneur, and storyteller who fundamentally changed the entertainment industry. I’m also excited by a new generation of multidisciplinary artists and creators, including Francesca Scorsese, who are exploring storytelling across multiple mediums and platforms. Truthfully, the list

of actors is infinite. I’m a maximalist. There are hundreds of performers whose work I admire and would be excited to collaborate with. Cinematographers, composers, production designers, editors, colorists, and creative collaborators help define the language of the work itself. Those relationships are incredibly important to me, and I tend to have very particular artistic sensibilities when it comes to building a team.

most fulfilled when I’m surrounded by passionate artists working toward a shared vision, and I am fortu nate to have several exciting collaborations on the horizon that I’m looking forward to sharing soon.

My entire life I’ve been surrounded by musicians, and some of my favorite collaborators continue to be musicians. They trust rhythm, intuition, emotion, and play. I’m fortunate to be developing projects with Grammy Award and Tony Award-winning composers who are also writers and performers in their own right. That intersection of music, storytelling, performance, and imagination has always been one of the greatest creative playgrounds for me. I’m currently developing feature films, television series, and film-to-musical adaptations, and I love working with performers who also make music because they’re often approaching storytelling from multiple directions at once.

I don’t think I would ever stop telling stories. But if I stepped away from filmmaking tomorrow, I would focus on building professional ecosystems for dancers and performing artists that support both artistic excellence and long term personal, economic, and academic growth. I am interested in creating a model where artists receive exceptional training alongside education in other fields of interest, supported by meaningful five to ten year engagements that allow them to build sustainable careers and lives. Similar models exist in Europe, and New York has more than enough resources, institutions, and talent to make this possible.

More than any individual name, what excites me is being surrounded by artists operating at the highest level of their craft who remain endlessly curious. I love actors and could spend a lifetime working with extraordinary performers, but I am equally inspired by cinematographers, producers, editors, colorists, composers, choreographers, production designers, and every artist who helps bring a story to life.

I also love traveling and writing from different places around the world. I’d spend a lot more time surfing, exploring new cultures, and chasing experiences that expand the way I see people and stories. That said, I’d probably get bored fairly quickly and start making movies and television shows again. I’m most at home on a film set, in a rehearsal room surrounded by a large team of artists, or in the ocean. Storytelling has been at the center of my life for so long that I don’t think it’s something I could ever truly retire from. I may change mediums, I may change focus, but I suspect I’d find my way back to creating stories almost immediately.

Filmmaking is one of the great collaborative art forms. Some of my favorite moments happen when a collaborator discovers something unexpected that elevates the work beyond what any one person could have imagined alone. I love the team immensely. I’m

LIZ

KNOWN FOR: Singer-Songwriter SOCIAL MEDIA: IG, liz_y2k

Long before Y2K nostalgia became pop’s dominant aesthetic and hyperpop entered the mainstream conversation, LIZ was building her own futuristic vision of both. Today, that vision arrives in full with Prototype, her bold new album that bridges glossy pop nostalgia, club music, hyperpop experimentation, and emotional escapism into one cohesive world. The release arrives alongside focus track “Jus Wanna,” a euphoric late-night house anthem that brings the album’s futuristic pop universe fully into focus. Written alongside Dutch DJ FS Green and produced by longtime collaborator Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears), “Jus Wanna” pairs lush harmonies, sensual falsettos, and pulsing four-on-the-floor energy with the emotional release of classic dance music. Drawing from house, UK garage and Y2K pop, the track builds toward a soaring, almost spiritual climax before erupting back onto the dance floor. Prototype is the culmination of a world LIZ has been building for over a decade. Each previously released single revealed a different facet of the album’s identity. “Sunscreen,” produced and co-written with the late SOPHIE, captured its emotional core. “Likey” embraced hyperpop experimentation. “L in Lover,” created alongside Jimmy Harry and JC Chasez, channeled the polished fantasy of Y2K pop. “Juicy Sweet” explored its immersive, sensory side. With “Jus Wanna,” those elements finally collide, creating the album’s most euphoric and fully realized moment. “With Prototype, I’m not chasing anything,” shares LIZ. “I will be a teenybopper at heart forever, and I have been and will always be unapologetic about that. But everyone evolves and grows, and I think this body of work is a concise project full of bops that bridges my early Mad Decent releases and the more hyperpop-influenced music I’ve made in recent years.” Photography|James Orlando

Beyond the album and videos, O’Ryan performed in Oslo to a livestream audience of more than 90,000 for the “Faded” anniversary, where fans worldwide praised her talent and dubbed her the “New Little Walker.” She has appeared in an acoustic performance of “Broken Strings” and a club gig with Walker in Warsaw, and was a featured performer at the Enhanced Games alongside Walker in Las Vegas this past May. Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Being able to connect with people all over the world through my music. IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? It would be a dream to collaborate with an orchestra. Last year I got to perform in Germany backed by a string quartet and choir, and then in Italy with a 35 piece wind orchestra. Having that kind of energy behind a song live is an incredible experience. IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? I think it would be some combination of gardener and visual artist, or open an art cafe, or some kind of small therapeutic backto-the-land retreat center. Photography|Tim Jackson

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? Zara Larsson. I’ve been a fan of hers for a long time. I’d also love to do a duet with Alicia Keys and write music with Sara Bareilles! IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else. Maybe biochemistry. I’ve also always thought theatre or acting could be fun. Photography| Ryan Kuna

Maddie Hogan is a rising country-rock artist whose rich vocals, catchy songwriting, and commanding stage presence are quickly gaining attention throughout the music industry. After receiving a Golden Ticket on Season 15 of American Idol, Hogan built momentum with original music that blends modern country storytelling with rock-and-roll edge. Her song “Beautiful Temporary” won Best Song in a Music Video at the Scotland International Festival of Cinema, and Nashville Music Scene Magazine named her an Artist/Songwriter to Watch in 2025. Originally from Delaware County, Pennsylvania and now based at the Jersey Shore, Hogan’s sound reflects both her rock-and-roll roots and her love for melodic country storytelling. Influenced by artists who blur the lines between country, rock, and pop, she has crafted a style that feels both modern and timeless. She collaborates with award-winning producers as she establishes herself as a rising force in the evolving country-rock landscape.Hogan continues expanding her audience and setting her sights on the festival and touring circuit. As she records her upcoming album — which includes a duet with a fellow Cape May country artist and a heartfelt patriotic ballad honoring the nation’s police force — she is steadily carving out a lane entirely her own. Maddie Hogan newest single is called an anthem for the black and blue comes out Sept 4 everywhere music is available and its a tribute to Law Enforcement.

A Little Redemption (2012) and Mockingbird Lane (2015). Both featured legendary Nashville players, including Al Perkins, Will Kimbrough, and Steve Fishell, and received rave reviews for their authenticity and emotional depth. Her third studio album, The Melted Morning (2019), produced by Jordan Brooke Hamlin (Brandi Carlile, Indigo Girls), revealed a more intimate and haunting sonic landscape and was widely praised for its vulnerability and originality. Since then, Danni has continued to evolve with a live album, a covers collection, and a string of well-received singles. Making Moves, produced by Sarah Peacock, marks a bold new chapter - blending rootsy warmth with subtle modern textures and reflecting a period of resilience, reinvention, and forward motion. The record finds Danni stepping more fully into her own power, embracing change, and writing with renewed clarity about growth, courage, and letting go. Described as a “one in a million” artist with a “velvet voice” (Maverick Magazine), and with songs hailed as “classy and compelling” (R2 Magazine), Danni brings warmth, soul, and nuance to every stage she steps onto. Whether in intimate listening rooms, grand theatres, or festival main stages, her performances are known for melting hearts and holding audiences spellbound. She has shared bills and tours with artists such as Lucinda Williams, The Secret Sisters, and Sturgill Simpson, and her music has been featured on hit television shows, including Sons of Anarchy. A three-time Americana Music Association UK award nominee, Danni has performed at esteemed festivals worldwide, including Cambridge Folk Festival (UK), Tønder Festival (Denmark), AMERICANAFEST (USA), Mile of Music (USA), and 30A Songwriters Festival (USA). Writing songs of hope, healing, and human connection, she has drawn comparisons to Brandi Carlile, Rosanne Cash, and KT Tunstall. KNOWN FOR: Gladys Magazine’s Creative Director, Brand Coordinator, Sr. Designer, Gladys Creatives SOCIAL MEDIA: IG, @gladyscreatives I would like to take a moment to thank Andrea and Gladys Magazine for helping those who are just starting out or who are emerging models, artists, authors, designers, musicians, writers, photographers, etc. It can be tough getting noticed and getting yourself seen and heard. If you are just starting out or working on building your portfolio be a part of Gladys Magazine. “A magazine dedicated to anyone who has been inspired to pursue their dreams by someone they love” is our Mission Statement and once you’re in Gladys, you are always part of the Gladys Family. At the center of this family is a wonderful woman Andrea Patrick Forte, the Editor of Gladys Magazine and my friend. We met years ago at a another magazine and like that magazine there are so many others out there that imitate Gladys, but they can never have the same passion, heart, soul and meaning like Gladys, the first real Inspirational Magazine. Andrea has a huge heart and a passion for helping people through Gladys Magazine, the web site and social media pages that Andrea shares with people, the models, photographers and industry, the people’s art/work that are published in Gladys and grace the pages for all to appreciate. Gladys loves giving emerging talent a voice to a large audience while also sharing established artists and their works - this is what Gladys is all about - helping and supporting people to reach their dreams. I have been with Gladys since day one. 18 years of creating a magazine that is more than just pages put together. It is a story and timeline for those who have been with us from the beginning and those that are just hopping aboard the Gladys Train. I look forward to many more years ahead. Thank you to those who have been there along the way and supported Gladys. All the many contributors and friends. Again Andrea, I applaud all that you do for everyone. Little did we know meeting over 18 years ago at another magazine I designed, we became not only a Great Team, but Friends. LOVE YOU! I raise my glass and propose a toast for many more years of success. And I believe the Best is Yet to Come.

Recently I have been working towards officially launching FusionWorx (www.fusionwors.site), bringing together over three decades of experience in graphic design, web design, branding, social media marketing, and digital strategy into a business focused on helping organizations grow through creative, effective design. At the same time, I’ve had the opportunity to assist an Equine Therapy center for veterans, Bluewater Equine Therapy (www.bluewateretrcorp.org), with the development of their website and launch efforts. Contributing my design and marketing experience to help establish a meaningful Veterans Therapy organization has been both rewarding and inspiring and fulfills many of my passions. Now I am preparing to travel the country and launch a new YouTube channel that will document my journey, share creative projects, highlight businesses and communities across America, and provide practical insights from the world of design, branding, and entrepreneurship. One of the greatest blessings throughout my career has been my relationship with GLADYS Magazine. For the past 17 years, they have trusted me with their website design and I am incredibly grateful for the confidence they have placed in my work. Long-term clients like GLADYS have shaped my career, challenged me to continually improve, and provided the foundation that has made this next chapter with FusionWorx possible.Interestingly, the piece of property where I met Robert Covington, the photographer who introduced me to GLADYS, is the same farm that is now Bluewater Horse Ranch. The property is near where my ancestors lived back in the 1800s when this town was being built and the road is named after my family. An example of a big circle involving a small town in South Georgia. I’m excited about the opportunities to create, collaborate, and help businesses and organizations tell their stories through thoughtful design and strategic marketing.

Joe K

KNOWN FOR: Founder of Yoga by Joe K SOCIAL MEDIA: @yogabyjoek Joe K has been a cornerstone of the Los Angeles yoga community for over 14 years, known for his grounded, intentional approach and ability to connect deeply with students. His yoga journey began with a 500-hour teacher training through Moksha Yoga in Brazil, after which he started teaching on Prince Edward Island, Canada. In 2011, Joe moved to Los Angeles to teach full-time at Modo Yoga LA, quickly building a devoted following. By 2015, he had helped construct much of the Modo Yoga LA East studio, but soon felt called to carve his own path. In 2016, he founded Urban 728 Yoga, creating a space dedicated to connection, energy, and presence. Over the course of his career, Joe has led over 10,000 classes — in studios, online, and in communities around the world — impacting more than one million practitioners with his unique blend of mindfulness, power, and purpose.

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Success, to me, is balance. In yoga and in building yoga studios, balance is what allows energy to move and express itself fully through the body, through business, through community, and through life. When things are in balance, there is clarity, flow, and a sense of alignment that cannot be forced. True success is the ability to stay aware enough to make adjustments when needed. It is the courage to respond rather than react, to communicate with clarity, and to act from a grounded place where breath, presence, and intention are working together. For me, success looks like waking up each morning with energy and clarity for whatever the day brings, and moving through it with a steady sense of center and peace. It is ending the day knowing I lived with kindness, integrity, and awareness. We wake up to fully participate in life, and we return to rest in gratitude.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT?

I have spent nearly two decades developing a teaching methodology and philosophy through yoga, shaped continuously by direct experience with students, community, and practice. What I have found is that the principles of yoga are universal. While social wellness has always been at the heart of yoga, it is now becoming more widely recognized as essential in modern life, especially across business, sports, entertainment, and creative industries. I would be excited to collaborate with artists, athletes, venture capital leaders, and individuals in entertainment to bring these principles into broader cultural spaces.

It is interesting to reflect on retirement, because I experienced a version of it at 30 when I transitioned from a decade in corporate software consulting into becoming a yoga instructor. That shift felt less like leaving a career and more like stepping into alignment with something I had been moving toward all along. I went from a system that often limited expression to a life that expands it daily. Since then, I have come to see life less as a series of separate acts and more as an ongoing practice. When you are living in alignment with purpose, the next direction is not forced. It reveals itself through curiosity, service, and presence. If I were to step away from my current work, I would continue in the same direction of service, expanding the reach of yoga and mindfulness into new environments.

My intention would be to offer a grounded understanding of yoga as a lived practice, one that strengthens mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and self awareness in practical, accessible ways. The goal is not transformation for its own sake, but alignment. To give people tools to better inhabit who they already are so they can move through life with more clarity, presence, and appreciation for their bodies, their minds, and their experience.

This could include higher education, professional sports settings, and programs for children and underserved communities. At the core, the intention would remain unchanged: to share practices that help people live with greater awareness, balance, and connection to themselves and the world around them. Carson & Brielle Matranga KNOWN FOR: Family Lifestyle, Content Creators SOCIAL MEDIA: IG, Carson Matranga, @briellematranga

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Success to us looks a lot like the life we’re living now. Being able to spend time with our children, be present for the moments that matter, and provide for our family is something we never take for granted. Of course, we have goals and dreams we’re still working toward, but if we’re able to continue building a strong marriage, raising kind children, and helping take care of the people we love, we’d consider that a success.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Rather than collaborating with a specific person, we’d love the opportunity to work with people and organizations that are making a positive impact in the world. Whether that’s through helping families, supporting children, encouraging faith, or simply bringing more kindness into people’s lives, those are the types of collaborations that excite us the most. At the end of the day, we want to use our platform to leave people better than we found them.

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? CARSON: I’ve always loved teaching and entertaining people. If I retired from content creation

today, I would love to travel the country—or maybe even the world—teaching dance. It would be even more special if one or all of my kids wanted to join me along the way. Dance changed my life, and I’d love the opportunity to pass that gift on to others.

BRIELLE: This question is difficult for me because being a wife and mom has always been my dream. I’ve never been someone who chased a specific career path. My greatest joy comes from building a home, raising our children, and supporting the people I love. Whatever season of life we’re in, I know I’ll be happiest spending time with my family and helping them pursue their dreams. Photography|Brian edward Smith

INSPIRE BY: My advocacy on Postpartum Mental Health, our documentary “When the Bough Breaks-Doc”, and my own story of turning my pain into purpose.

Q&A

SHARE SOME OF YOUR “GOOD NEWS” SINCE YOU LAST APPEARED IN GLADYS:

As I put the finishing touches on this memoir, I find myself reflecting with deep gratitude on all that has unfolded. I have had the privilege of speaking as a keynote and motivational speaker, encouraging audiences to recognize their inherent worth, embrace their true magnificence, and choose collaboration over competition. I launched SOZO Heart, a luxury candle, diffuser, and roller oil collection that blends elevated aromatherapy with the grounding beauty of gemstones, intentional living, and hope—an invitation to pause, breathe, and reconnect. Alongside my dear friend and partner, Sara Ryan, I have co-facilitated two transformative wellness retreats in Tamarindo, Mexico, and Merano, Italy, creating sacred spaces where healing, restoration, and authentic connection flourish. Del Pozzo Jewelry has continued to grow, expanding into prestigious boutiques and exclusive luxury trunk shows, allowing me to share wearable works of art with remarkable women around the world. I also had the honor of co-authoring Today Is the Day: Live It with Jodi Grinwald, another

meaningful opportunity to encourage others to embrace their purpose and live with intention. Yet, of all the accomplishments listed here, none compare to the transformation that has taken place within me. The greatest success has never been what I’ve built, but who I’ve become, and will continue to utilize my growth opportunites to inspire others.

WHAT PROFESSIONAL GOALS ARE YOU FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING? To build a globally recognized legacy of transformation—through speaking, coaching, writing, wellness, and luxury brands—that inspires people to discover their worth, live with purpose, and create lives they never thought possible.

WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU?

Being named a success story isn’t about recognition or achievement alone. It’s knowing that the pain I endured wasn’t wasted—that it became purpose. It means I chose healing over bitterness, courage over fear, and faith over defeat. Success, to me, is measured by the lives that have been transformed, the hope inspired, and the legacy that’s being built through my coaching, speaking, writing, jewelry, and SOZO Heart. It is the freedom to use the gifts God entrusted to me to serve others while creating a life of abundance, significance, and impact. If my journey encourages even one person to believe they are worthy, resilient, and capable of creating a life they once thought impossible, then I am already a success.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU IN GLADYS?

More than anything, I hope people walk away believing that no matter where they begin, their story does not define their future.

I hope they see that resilience can be cultivated, healing is possible, and purpose is often born from life’s greatest challenges. If my journey inspires someone to believe in themselves a little more, choose courage over fear, or take one step toward the life they were created to live, then sharing my story has been worthwhile. I want people to remember me not for what I accomplished, but for how I made them feel—seen, encouraged, empowered, and reminded of their own extraordinary potential.

WHERE CAN OUR READERS FOLLOW YOUR JOURNEY? Readers can follow my journey through my speaking, coaching, writing, and entrepreneurial ventures. I love sharing inspiration, behind-thescenes moments, and new projects as they unfold. I always welcome the opportunity to connect with people who are passionate about living with purpose, embracing transformation, and creating a life they truly love. Through this work, she creates spaces of belonging and recovery for those navigating displacement, conflict, and systemic repression. Azadeh’s impact extends to the international stage, where she has spoken at the United Nations, contributed to the Global Refugee Forum, spoke about the future of Iran in terms of healing at the Oslo Freedom Forum and delivered a 2026 TEDx talk at Oxford titled “Limitless: Smuggler of Hope.” She also supports advocacy efforts to end solitary confinement and has organized events for the Women, Life, Freedom movement, including a major 2023 rally in Los Angeles.

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? Success, to me, is knowing that I left people and communities better than I found them. It is not about titles, recognition, or accomplishments. It is about impact. It is about whether a survivor felt less alone because our paths crossed, whether a family found support when they needed it most, or whether a child grows up with opportunities their parents never had. At the end of my life, I think I will be asking myself one simple question: Did I use my time here to reduce suffering and increase hope? If the answer is yes, then I will consider my life a success. 88 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT?

If I could collaborate with anyone, it would be Angelina Jolie and Melinda Gates. Angelina has spent decades using her platform to advocate for people affected by conflict, displacement, and humanitarian crises. Melinda has been a powerful force in advancing the rights, well-being, and opportunities of women and girls around the world. What draws me to both of them is a shared belief that every human being deserves dignity, opportunity, and the chance to heal. Much of my work is rooted in helping people move beyond survival and begin imagining a future again, and I believe that is a vision we all have in common.

I honestly don’t know if I would ever fully retire. The work may look different, but I think I will always be drawn to people and their stories. If I stepped away from this work tomorrow, I would probably spend more time writing and documenting stories of resilience around the world. I would want to sit with elders, survivors, activists, and communities and preserve the lessons they have learned. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that stories heal. So I imagine my next chapter would still involve listening, learning, and finding ways to bring people together through our shared humanity.

Asha Elias

SOCIAL MEDIA: IG: @Asha.Sue.Elias Asha Elias is a novelist, journalist, and cultural commentator often described as the “Carrie Bradshaw of Miami”. She is the author of the novels Pink Glass Houses and The Namaste Club, and has written for Cosmopolitan, SheKnows, and Miami New Times, where she covers dating, relationships, sex, culture, and modern social life with wit, sharp observation, and a satirical edge. Half Indian and half white, Asha draws on South Florida’s glamorous, complicated social landscape to explore the increasingly blurred lines between love, ambition, identity, motherhood, desire, and the versions of ourselves we perform online and off. Whether through fiction, essays, or cultural commentary, she examines the conversations women are already having behind closed doors, and asks the questions they’re finally ready to say out loud.

Q&A

WHAT DOES BEING SUCCESSFUL MEAN TO YOU? This is a tough question as a writer, because I try not to equate success with external validation, though it is always tempting! Of course, reaching readers is a wonderful feeling, even, sometimes, when the work isn’t resonating with someone. In my heart, though, I try to think of success as whether or not I’m communicating honestly in my work. Am I going into places that make me feel vulnerable and uncomfortable? If the answer is yes, then at least I know I’m expressing myself with authenticity. IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? There is an incredible documentary filmmaker from Miami named Billy Corben. I’d consider him one of the most important Florida storytellers of our time, and he often focuses on the dark corners of society, which I find fascinating. I think there is some overlap in our work and what interests us, and I would love to find a way to work together. Hit me up, Billy! IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? I don’t think I could ever truly stop writing. But if I did retire from journalism and novel writing, I’d love to take a stab at screenwriting. It’s out of my wheelhouse, though, so I would have to take copious amounts of workshops and probably go back to school, which honestly excites me. Photo|Courtesy of Asha Elias

KNOWN FOR: I am known for my strength, determination, and passion for creating a life beyond my circumstances. INSPIRED BY: I am inspired by my faith in God, my kids, and the journey that has shaped me into who I am today. My relationship with God has given me strength, guidance, and the courage to keep moving forward through every season of life.

Q&A

WHAT PROFESSIONAL GOALS ARE YOU FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING? My goal is to continue growing as a model, business owner, collaborate with talented creatives, and use this platform to inspire others. My journey has always been about more than appearances. it has been about confidence, growth, and proving that your beginnings do not define your future. Becoming a mother at 13 shaped me in ways I never could have imagined. It motivated me to work hard, build my own business, create stability, and show my children that with determination and courage, anything is possible. Seeing them thrive today is one of my greatest accomplishments. WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU? Being named a “Success Story” means recognizing the entire journey — the challenges, the lessons, the sacrifices, and the moments where I chose to keep going. I became a mother very young, and that experience gave me a purpose and drive that changed my life. I built a career, created opportunities for myself, and refused to be defined by where I came from or my circumstances. To me, success is not just what you achieve; it is the person you become along the way and the example you set for others.

SHARE SOME “GOOD NEWS” SINCE YOU LAST APPEARED IN GLADYS:

I’ve recently had the opportunity to be part of several incredible beauty and fashion projects that are especially meaningful. Two of my lip gloss shades, Golden Hour Glam, a beautiful golden gloss, and Glimmer of Hope, which carries such a special and uplifting meaning. I’m also incredibly excited to be part of the ALM Beauty x Charjean Couture Luxe Eyeshadow Palette campaign. This beautiful 12-shade, vegan-friendly palette brings the worlds of beauty and high fashion together. What makes this project even more special to me is that I had the opportunity to name one of the shades Hadley Grace, after my daughter. Gray is 98 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

her favorite color, so it felt perfect to give the beautiful gray shade her name. Having that personal connection to the palette is something I will always treasure. I’m also thrilled to be part of The Walker Collection’s Fields of Gold campaign. This beautiful sunflower yellow vegan leather backpack holds an incredibly special meaning for me. It was named in honor of my late father who grew the most beautiful sunflowers. The name Fields of Gold is a beautiful tribute to his memory and makes being part of this campaign especially close to my heart. The backpack itself is a bold statement piece featuring a structured silhouette, gold-tone hardware, and signature fringe detailing, but for me, the story and meaning behind its name make it truly unforgettable. I’m incredibly grateful for all of these opportunities. Each project has allowed me to celebrate beauty, fashion, and creativity while also incorporating pieces of my own personal story and the people I love. From naming an eyeshadow shade after my daughter to honoring my late father through Fields of Gold, these experiences have meant so much more to me than simply being part of a campaign. I’m excited to see what the future holds and incredibly thankful for every opportunity along the way.

WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU?

Being named a “Success Story” means more to me than recognition. It reflects the strength it has taken to keep moving forward through life’s hardest seasons with faith, resilience, and gratitude. I don’t see success as something tangible, however, as something that we’ve invested perfection, but as perseverance and purpose. It shows me that it only takes one person to truly see you. I feel that has been my mission statement from the start and why

the quote “Then I Saw Me” has been instrumental in my journey. I truly want to walk hand in hand with as many people as I can to help them see they have a purpose in this world. No matter how small or big that might be. Most importantly, it’s a reminder that you’re never too old to achieve anything you set your mind to, and if my story can give even one person hope to keep going, then that is true success to me. Matt Mathews. His authenticity reminds us that our greatest strength is having the courage to be ourselves. He uses humor not just to entertain, but to bring comfort, connection, and hope. I believe the most meaningful collaborations are the ones that leave people feeling seen, encouraged, and inspired. He’s done this in so many ways, especially when he did photography. He wanted to help others see their beauty when they couldn’t. That’s the kind of impact I’d want to create together, especially with the quote “Then I Saw Me” having been so instrumental and such a stepping stone for me since attending New York Fashion week in February of 2026.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU IN GLADYS?

I hope people feel encouraged and uplifted when they see me in Gladys. My journey has been filled with hardships, but also deep gratitude, faith, and resilience. If my story can touch even one person, I hope it reminds them that they are not alone, and that even in the hardest seasons, there is still hope, purpose, and a reason to keep going.

Brooke Michelle Carter

KNOWN FOR: The Current Mrs. Summit United States

INSPIRED BY: Princess Diana SOCIAL MEDIA: @mrs_summit_unitedstates Brookemichellecarter.com

Q&A

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF? My name is Brooke Michelle Carter, and I am the current Mrs. Summit United States. I am also the director of the Happy Art Society, a nonprofit organization I founded with my brother, Alex, and my husband, Robert. The Happy Art Society provides art therapy services and creative resources to children experiencing grief and other difficult life circumstances. This mission grew out of my own experience of losing my father in 1994 and discovering the healing power of art.

WHAT PROFESSIONAL GOALS ARE YOU FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING? Right now, I’m focused on growing my nonprofit, Happy Art Society, and expanding our reach so we can bring art therapy resources to even more children facing grief, hardship, and difficult life circumstances. My number one goal is to create a community where every child feels supported, inspired, and reminded that they are never alone.

WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU? Being named a “Success Story” is incredibly meaningful because so much of what I’ve built has been shaped by challenges in my own life. To me, success isn’t just about personal achievement—it’s about transforming pain into something that helps others heal, grow, and feel seen.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

I would love to collaborate with Dolly Parton because I admire the way she has combined creativity and a genuine commitment to helping children. Like her, I connect with using creative outlets to empower others, and I would love the opportunity to 102 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

partner with someone who has built such an in spiring legacy. Plus, she’s incredibly down to Earth; she reminds me of my Dad’s family in Kentucky. I just know we’d hit it off.

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN OUR NEXT ACT? Even if I were to step away from my current projects, I don’t think I would ever stop building things that help people. My next act would likely involve creating more books, art programs, and passion projects that continue the mission I’ve already started through Happy Art Society. I believe creativity has the power to change lives for the better, and I imagine I’ll spend my lifetime finding new ways to share that with others. So, I’ll basically just keep doing what I’m already doing— hopefully from a pied-à-terre in Paris.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU IN GLADYS? I hope people see someone who is using her passions and life experiences to create something meaningful for others. More than anything, I hope they realize they can take their personal tribulations and use them to find ways to uplift others going through the same thing. I say this a lot, but I’m trying to be the person I needed when I was younger for others. I encourage others to think about what that means for them personally, and then do the same.

WHAT PROFESSIONAL GOALS ARE YOU FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING? I am currently a sophomore studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. After college, I hope to pursue a career in real estate. I love building relationships with people, and I hope to help families find a place to call home while making a positive impact in my community.

WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU? It truly means the world to me. Success, to me, isn’t about a title or a crown—it’s about using every opportunity to make a difference. The past few weeks have changed my life, and being recognized as a Success Story reminds me how far I’ve come and inspires me to keep giving back.

IF YOU COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE NEXT, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY? I would love to collaborate with a nonprofit that advocates for children who have experienced abuse. Giving a voice to children who often feel unheard is something deeply personal to me, and I would love to use my platform to bring more awareness, hope, and healing to those who need it most.

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN YOUR NEXT ACT? I would dedicate my life to nonprofit work. Helping others feel seen, heard, and loved has always been my greatest passion. No matter what career I have, I hope my life’s purpose is always centered around serving others.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU IN GLADYS? I hope people walk away knowing that their past does not define their future. No matter what you’ve been through, you are capable of becoming the person you’ve always dreamed of being. I hope my story reminds others to believe in themselves, embrace who they are, and never stop chasing the life they deserve.

Q&A

SHARE SOME “GOOD NEWS” SINCE YOU LAST APPEARED IN GLADYS:

Good news? Where do I even start — I feel like I’ve won the lottery a few times over. Crissy and I are celebrating 27 years of marriage this year, and 32 years together. Three decades with your best friend, and it still feels like we’re just getting started — that’s the part I’m most grateful for. Our kids are thriving in ways that make a parent’s heart burst. Jack is 20 now, studying business at ASU out in Arizona, figuring out who he wants to be in the world. And Jasmine is heading into her senior year of high school — she’s 104 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

got her sights set on playing Varsity Volleyball in college while tackling the Pre-med track, with dreams of becoming a doctor. Watching them chase their own paths, with their own grit, is honestly the best show in town. On the work front, I still get to do what I love — photography keeps hiring me, and I keep chasing new creative projects alongside it. And the biggest adventure lately: Crissy and I launched The Barker Company two years ago — we make pre-batched Espresso and Cappuccino Martinis. What started as an idea between the two of us is now in 32 states across the country. Watching something you built together take off like that is a pretty humbling feeling. So yeah — lucky in love, lucky in family, lucky to still be creating. I don’t take any of it for granted.

WHAT PROFESSIONAL GOALS ARE YOU FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING? My professional goal has never been to master one lane — it’s to make sure the lanes all talk to each other. I consider myself a creative entrepreneur first, and a photographer second — even though photography is the medium that’s brought me the most recognition, particularly in fashion and modeling. But I’ve always resisted being boxed in. The real goal is to take the visual language I’ve spent a career building and weave it into everything I touch. The Barker Company is the clearest example of that philosophy in action. It’s an Espresso Martini business on paper, but in practice, it’s fashion photography wearing a cocktail’s clothing. I shoot every image of the packaging myself. Crissy’s legs and hands show up throughout the advertising — elegant, editorial, unmistakably us. Our whole pitch is built around a single idea: “The Most Fashionable Cocktail in the World.” That’s not a tagline we backed into — it’s the north star for every creative decision we make.

The truth is, doing that work has always been a privilege I had to earn the time for — stepping away from paying work to give time to mission-driven work is a luxury, and I’ve never taken that lightly. So if I ever stepped back from the industry as I know it today, my next act wouldn’t be a retirement in the traditional sense. It would be a return — to the work that’s felt the most purposeful all along, but doing it without the constraints of a calendar or a client list. Just showing up, camera in hand, for causes that matter, full-time, for as long as I’m able. If that’s the next chapter, I couldn’t imagine a more meaningful way to spend it.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE FEEL OR TAKE AWAY WHEN THEY SEE YOU IN GLADYS?

We didn’t launch quietly, either. We debuted at New York Fashion Week in 2024, because if you’re going to claim a seat at the intersection of fashion and lifestyle, you might as well claim it in the room where fashion actually happens. And we’ve kept that spirit alive since — throwing parties around the country that aren’t just about selling a bottle, but about celebrating fashion and creativity within local communities. So my professional goal, in a sentence: keep proving that photography, fashion, and entrepreneurship aren’t separate disciplines — they’re one continuous creative practice, and I want to keep finding new places to prove it.

I hope people see a true love story. Not a perfect one — a real one. Two people who met as kids and just kept choosing each other, growing up together, figuring out how to love one another while also figuring out how to love ourselves along the way. Somewhere in there we brought two more people into the world, who are the best of both of us.

WHAT DOES BEING NAMED A “SUCCESS STORY” MEAN TO YOU?

barkermartinis.com, nigelbarker.tv

If there’s a takeaway, it’s this: it doesn’t have to be perfect to work. Love and respect at the centre of it — that’s really the whole thing. Everything else you work out as you go.

WHERE CAN OUR READERS FOLLOW YOUR JOURNEY?

Honestly, “success story” is a title I accept with a good deal of humility — because success, to me, has never been a destination. It’s a practice. I’m deeply grateful for the milestones — the business, the creative career, the recognition that comes with it. But if I’ve learned anything over 32 years with Crissy and two decades of raising Jack and Jasmine, it’s that the real work is staying present. Trying to actually live each day rather than just survive it or rush through it chasing the next win. Success that isn’t felt in the moment doesn’t mean much to me. And if I’m being completely honest — the story I’m proudest of isn’t the one with my name on the packaging or in the press. It’s the one still being written by our kids. Watching Jack find his footing at ASU, watching Jasmine push herself toward Varsity volleyball and a pre-med path with dreams of becoming a doctor — that’s the success that actually keeps me up at night in the best way. Every parent will tell you the same thing, and it’s true: your children are your most important work. So if being called a “Success Story” means anything to me, it’s this — it’s a reminder to keep showing up, keep creating, and keep pouring into the people I love, so that one day, their success becomes the story worth telling.

IF YOU RETIRED FROM YOUR INDUSTRY TODAY, WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN OUR NEXT ACT? If I’m honest, my “next act” wouldn’t feel like a new chapter so much as finally getting to turn the volume up on something that’s already been quietly playing in the background for 25 years. Some of the most meaningful work of my career hasn’t been the campaigns that paid the bills — it’s been the collaborations with organizations like The Make-A-Wish Foundation, CARE, The Humane Society, Jumpstart, The Edeyo Foundation, and Special Olympics, to name just a few. There’s something profoundly different about picking up a camera not to sell a product, but to tell a story that might change how someone sees the world — a story that moves hearts, shifts minds, and in some small way, makes life a little safer or a little more dignified for someone who needs it. Jenny and the City

Celebrating Photographer TYLER SHIELDS Book Launch By Jenny Leeser, Jenny and the City, Photos Courtesy of Jenny Leeser

Jenny and the city attended the private reception for the famous American photographer, filmmaker and writer Tyler Shields. Celebrating the debut of a bold new collection of art and photography book at Art Angels Gallery in Beverly Hills. I was introduced to Tyler by my celebrity publicist friend JR and we had a great conversation. Tyler is very talented and has a true artistic vision. The guests were thrilled to acquire his book and actually talk to him while sipping on some champagne. It was a fantastic turn out and I certainly enjoyed my time. Thank you Tyler, Xoxo About Tyler Shields: Tyler Shields is a photographer and filmmaker whose work is rooted in cinema, fantasy, and unapologetic vision. Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Shields left middle school early to pursue a professional rollerblading career, a formative period that shaped his instinctive, fearless approach to creating. That same momentum later propelled him toward photography, where he found a new medium through which to construct worlds, characters, and narratives on his own terms. Largely self-taught, Shields developed a unique visual style that merges cinematic

scale with emotional intensity. Over the past 15 years, he has presented gallery exhibitions worldwide, drawing record-breaking attendance and cultivating a devoted international following. His work exists in a space where fantasy feels tangible: stylized yet grounded, provocative yet meticulously composed. Process remains central to Shields’ practice. Every photograph is shot entirely on film, with no special effects or digital manipulation, reinforcing a commitment to craft, discipline, and authenticity. His images feel deliberate and immersive, inviting viewers into carefully constructed moments that reference cinema as much as they do photography. Shields’ impact extends beyond exhibitions into the secondary market, where his work has achieved significant success at the world’s leading auction houses, including Phillips, Christie’s, and Sotheby’s. His photographs have set multiple auction records, underscoring both their cultural resonance and market demand. In 2025, Shields expanded his storytelling practice into filmmaking, writing, directing, and shooting his first feature film, Chapter 51. Following private IMAX screenings in Los Angeles and New York City, the film was released in 2026, marking a defining evolution in his career. Alongside the film, Shields’ new monograph was released in July 2026, further reflecting the continued expansion of his cinematic and photographic practice. Today, Shields continues to operate at the intersection of photography and film, building worlds that feel cinematic, immersive, and unmistakably his own.that feel cinematic, immersive,Gladys and unmistakably hisIssue own. A Night of STARS: CWE Gala Celebrates the Women Transforming New England Through Entrepreneurship By Associate Director of Fashion North East Coast Olga Fitkevich, Photography by Chris Milton At Boston’s iconic State Room, leaders, philanthropists, and entrepreneurs gathered for an unforgettable evening celebrating vision, courage, and the extraordinary power of women in business. Under the glow of the Boston skyline, the Center for Women & Enterprise (CWE) Annual Gala, Fundraiser & Celebration brought together a remarkable community of changemakers on Thursday, April 29, 2026. The elegant evening at the State Room was more than a signature fundraising event — it was a celebration of dreams transformed into businesses, ideas turned into impact, and women who are creating a stronger future for generations to come.

For more than three decades, CWE has served as a catalyst for women entrepreneurs across New England. The organization continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact, providing thousands of women with the tools, confidence, and resources to succeed. “For 31 years, CWE has been the wind at the back of women who decided to bet on themselves,” Gaby said. “But tonight isn’t about our history. It’s about CWE’s impact today. In 2025 alone, we served over 2,000 entrepreneurs — women who recognized an opportunity and could envision their own success.”

The gathering welcomed 230 distinguished guests, including business leaders, supporters, community advocates, and entrepreneurs who came together in support of CWE’s mission: empowering women to achieve economic empowerment through entrepreneurship. The evening featured a Client Showcase, Live and Silent Auction, Fund A Need Program, and the highly anticipated Awards Ceremony. Through the extraordinary generosity of attendees and supporters, CWE raised $250,000, ensuring that more women throughout New England continue to receive the education, mentorship, and resources needed to build successful businesses. “Look around this room,” shared Gabrielle King Morse, President and CEO of the Center for Women & Enterprise, as she welcomed guests. “If you feel a specific kind of electricity in the air tonight, it’s not just wine and cocktails. It’s the sheer force of ambition gathered in one place.” Her words captured the essence of the evening — a room filled with women who dared to imagine something greater and the supporters who believe in their potential. “Tonight, we aren’t just here to talk about business,” Gaby continued. “We are here to celebrate individuals who are transforming our economy and Oksana Matviichuk, Natalia Urtubey, Isis Ortiz-Beltran, Andrea Velasquez, Meena our communities.” Sharma, Katie Belanger, Jen L’Heureux 112 Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious 2026 Andrea C. Silbert Star Awards, honoring six exceptional women whose entrepreneurial journeys embody resilience, innovation, and leadership. “These six women represent the potential and the promise of the thousands of entrepreneurs CWE serves across New England every year,” Gaby shared. “They embody the grit, the vision, and the potential of our entire community.”

New Hampshire: Margaret Gay — 27Teas Rhode Island: Susan Racette — Kindermotion and Dance New England Vermont: Laura Mack — lu lu Ice Cream Women Business Enterprise (WBE): Dr. Ellana Stinson — Safo Hair As the honorees took the stage, Gaby highlighted the broader significance of their achievements. “These women are not just small business owners,” she said. “They are the innovators redefining wellness. They are the visionaries changing the way our cities move. They are the educators turning the simple joy of movement and dance into a business model that can reach our children right in their classrooms. And they are the creators who have taken family legacies and local farm products and turned them into household names.”

Event Co-Chairs L to R: Jordan Gauthier and Jennifer Votano

The evening celebrated a truth at the heart of CWE’s mission: when women build businesses, the impact extends far beyond themselves. “When a woman starts a business, she doesn’t just change her own bank account,” Gaby explained. “She changes the trajectory of her family. She hires from her neighborhood. She reinvests back into her community. Tonight, you are together in a room full of multipliers.” Guests were invited to connect with the entrepreneurs around them and discover the stories behind the businesses they built. “If you have a woman entrepreneur at your table, ask her about her ‘why,’” Gaby encouraged. “Ask her about her pitch. Get to know her passion, her expertise, her grit, her brilliance, and the sheer audacity it takes to build something from nothing.” The evening concluded with a celebration of courage, ambition, and possibility — honoring not only successful businesses, but the women behind them. “Tonight is a celebration of the journey — the messy, beautiful, exhausting, and exhilarating path of the entrepreneur,” Gaby said. “The stars are already here.” And indeed, they were. The room was filled with women whose determination is reshaping industries, strengthening communities, and inspiring future generations of leaders. The 2026 CWE Annual Gala was not simply an evening of celebration — it was a powerful reminder that when women Zack DeClerck, Co-founder & CEO, Cargo B, Dorothy Fennell, Co-founder & COO, Cargo B & CWE 2026 Andrea C. Silbert EMA Star Award Winner are empowered, entire communities rise. Gladys ANNIVERSARY Issue 2026 113
