BETSEY JOHNSON & CHRISTINA RICCI UNITE FOR FALL 2025 — CELEBRATING THE MAGIC OF BEING AN OUTSIDER

For the kids who never fit in — and loved it — Christina Ricci was the icon. Sharp-witted, a little dark, and completely unforgettable, she gave a generation permission to be themselves without apology. Betsey Johnson has always lived in that same fearless, playful, and impossible to ignore spirit. These two cultural forces have come together in a campaign that honors the beauty of being different. The Betsey Johnson Fall 2025 collection transforms childhood nostalgia into grown-up style confidence. Signature Betsey whimsy, from carousel horses to gumball machines, mingles with subtle nods to the cult-classic worlds that shaped a generation of outliers, creating a look that’s both playfully fantastical and unapologetically edgy. The collection’s standouts showcase Betsey’s signature shine reimagined: statement accessories that shimmer with personality, corseted silhouettes, velvet daydreams, and the unexpected romance of leather meeting lace. Every piece is designed to make an entrance, bold enough to be noticed, intriguing enough to keep them guessing. Betsey’s signature shine takes center stage, reimagined through statement accessories and standout details that shimmer with personality. Corseted silhouettes, velvet daydreams, and the collision of leather and lace create a look that’s equal parts rebellious and romantic. Accessories gleam like secrets — bold enough to be noticed, intriguing enough to keep you guessing. The Betsey Johnson Fall collection is available now at BetseyJohnson. com, get ready to wear your candy and carry the party.

A Cathedral of Couture: Recapping New York Fashion Week September 2025

New York Fashion Week September 2025 proved that fashion is no longer just about the clothes — it’s about the culture, the conversation, and the courage to evolve. As designers unveiled their Spring/Summer 2026 collections, the city transformed into a canvas where style met storytelling, and runways became arenas for activism, inclusion, and unapologetic self-expression. From legacy brands to emerging voices, NYFW this season delivered more than expected — it was a whirlwind of spectacle, innovation, and heart. With major players like Ralph Lauren, Coach, Tory Burch, and Altuzarra lighting up the official calendar, and off-schedule happenings adding to the creative chaos, it often felt like a high-fashion episode of The Amazing Race. The competition? To be everywhere at once, dressed to impress, and camera-ready.

FRONT ROW, STAR POWER

The celebrity turnout didn’t disappoint. Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Usher, Wendy Williams, and Martha Stewart led a glitzy brigade of A-listers, flanked by next-gen reality stars like the cast of Love Island USA Season 7. With so many iconic figures lending their presence, the front row this season felt more like a cultural summit than a seating chart. Elfidas Atelier: Couture as Autobiography One of the most talked-about debuts came from Elfida Artinoff, who introduced her label Elfidas Atelier with a deeply personal collection titled DNA. Held at the atmospheric Angel Orensanz Foundation, her show was a standout of the New York Fashion Week x International Heritage Fashion Week (IHFW) Season 04 — and felt more like a sacred ceremony than a typical runway show.

Opening with a towering crimson opera coat, Artinoff’s pieces shimmered in jewel tones and metallic embroidery. But when an unexpected lighting glitch cast the runway in darkness, the moment became pure fashion alchemy. As models emerged like ethereal phantoms in jeweled turbans and molten robes, the show evolved into a kind of cinematic sorcery — a reminder that true couture doesn’t just shine in perfection, but thrives in chaos. Her final look — a red-and-gold haloed ensemble — was more than a finale; it was a coronation of heritage, a glowing tribute to legacy as living fire.

THE BUREAU: FASHION AS IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Not to be overshadowed, The Bureau Fashion Week held court from September 11–16 at Gotham Hall, offering what many are now calling a revolution in how fashion weeks are experienced. Gone are the days of simple runway shows. The Bureau delivered a multi-day, multi-sensory fashion utopia. Combining cutting-edge production, avant-garde artistry, and boundary-pushing technology, The Bureau was part theater, part fashion, and all energy. Their inclusive philosophy created not just an event, but a movement — one that felt less like a seasonal showcase and more like a cultural awakening. By welcoming talent from across the globe and embracing a community-first mindset, The Bureau has forged a passionate following that transcends trends. It’s no longer just a fashion week. It’s a way of life.

A SEASON TO REMEMBER

New York Fashion Week September 2025 made it clear: the future of fashion is not just about garments. It’s about intentionality, emotion, and daring evolution. Designers aren’t just dressing people — they’re telling stories, igniting conversations, and reshaping what the fashion industry can be. As the city’s lights dim and the last flashbulbs fade, one thing is certain — Spring/Summer 2026 is set to be one of the most inspired and boundary-breaking seasons yet. And if this NYFW taught us anything, it’s that the runway is no longer just a place to walk. It’s a place to speak.

J&TC Exclusive Interview with GUESS Model GLYNNIS

Interview by Jenny Leeser, Jenny and the City

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU?I’m a model, entrepreneur, esthetician and the founder of Glynnis Glow a lifestyle that merges high fashion with glowing skin, Pilates, and plant-based living. My career has taken me from global campaigns with Guess to currently creating my own cookbook, wellness rituals, and beauty projects. I like to say I’m not just modeling clothes, I’m modeling a way of living. “Supermodel of the Future.”

WHEN DID YOU START MODELING ? I’ve wanted to be a model since I was around 4 years old and saw my first magazine. I asked my mom why these people could be in the magazine and she said they were models. I knew right then that’s what I wanted to be. I used to walk around my house on my tippy toes pretending the hallway was a runway. Professionally, I started when I was 9 years old in San Francisco with Avalon modeling agency, but things really took off when I signed with Guess. That brand gave me my first taste of international recognition, and it’s still so special to me.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?I love that modeling is a constant transformation. One day you’re embodying old Hollywood glamour, the next day you’re futuristic, ethereal, and otherworldly on a runway. For me, the camera is a mirror into another dimension of who I am—it captures energy, not just images. I also love the impact modeling has: inspiring young women to own their beauty, confidence, and creates independence and travel opportunities.

HOW’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE? My mornings are sacred. I wake up around 6:00 or 7:00, start with my glow rituals, lemon-olive oil tonic, skin care routine, Pilates, and walking my Aussiepoo, Skywalker. The middle of my day is usually a mix of shoots, being on set and content creation for my brands. Evenings are slower. wellness cooking, recipe testing for my cookbook, stretching or going on an evening walk with Skywalker. It’s a rhythm that balances the glamour of fashion with grounded self care.

WHAT’S YOUR BEAUTY ROUTINE? Glowing skin is my signature, so my routine is very skin-focused. I never skip double cleansing, a hydrating lightening serum and vitamin C serum, and SPF. I also do weekly treatments of lymphatic drainage, and at-home facials since I’m an esthetician. But I believe my beauty really starts from within: I follow a plant-based, anti-inflammatory diet with recipes that are skin-nourishing with loving positive affirmations daily and bonus if you do mirror work. I love doing my affirmations while I do my Pilates which happens to be in front of my floor length mirror. Beauty is 70% lifestyle and 30% products.

HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A RUNWAY VS A CAMPAIGN?

Honestly it’s pretty similar. Right now I’ve been training for runway, it’s about stamina and sculpting—I’ll increase Pilates 45min 5-7 days a week bonus if you can do twice a day twice a week, 10k cardio walks which I do with Skywalker, and make sure I’m in a calorie deficit clean eating plant based diet. I want to feel strong, light, and centered. For campaigns, it’s more about energy and presence. I’ll do visualization, be well rested, and stretch a lot so I can bring range and emotion. Both require discipline, but in different ways.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO’S ASPIRING TO HAVE A MODELING CAREER? Just because you might hear no doesn’t mean they’re saying no to you, it just means you might not be the look they’re looking for right now. Know that you’re not just a model youre a brand. Modeling is much more than looking pretty - it’s about longevity, health, and building your personal brand. Learn how to market yourself, take care of your wellness, and never wait for permission to create. If no one’s booking you, book yourself, build content, and keep showing the world who you are.

WHAT’S YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA? You can find me on Instagram at @ glynnislyonsfor modeling and fashion, and @glynnisglow for wellness, beauty, and my recipes. I also share behind-the-scenes, Pilates, and dayin-my-life content on TikTok and YouTube coming soon. Xoxo

RobertJames: American Luxury, Reimagined

In a fashion world overflowing with noise and logos, RobertJames stands apart— quietly commanding attention through timeless design, extraordinary materials, and true American craftsmanship. Founded on the principles of elegance, rarity, and artistry, RobertJames has emerged as a fresh voice in luxury, offering limited-edition handbags that speak to the woman who values quality over quantity.

Every RobertJames piece is handcrafted in the United States by highly skilled artisans using some of the finest materials sourced from around the globe. From exotic skins such as alligator and porosus crocodile, to their 24kt gold plated hardware, each handbag is brought to life with painstaking attention to detail— stitched, edged, and finished by hand to ensure every element is flawless. The result? A collection of enduring designs that are as refined as they are rare.

While many luxury houses have embraced ever-escalating price points, RobertJames takes a more thoughtful approach. “We’re passionate about creating extraordinary, collectible, one of a kind pieces that feel indulgent—but also attainable,” says founder and designer James Norton. “Luxury should be something you treasure, not something that feels out of reach.”

Among the brand’s most beloved styles are The Anka and The Minnie Pochette, both celebrated for their exceptional versatility. The Anka is a bold structured top-handle bag that exudes power and poise, while the Minnie Pochette offers a sleeker, more minimalist profile. Clients praise both for their elegant proportions—roomy enough for a day of shopping, yet graceful and compact enough to carry to a black-tie gala or evening soirée.

What makes RobertJames truly special is its commitment to American artistry. In an industry where much of luxury production has moved overseas, RobertJames proudly champions domestic craftsmanship, keeping tradition alive through the hands of artisans who understand the language of luxury.

As the holiday season approaches, RobertJames offers a new kind of gift—one that blends rarity, beauty, and meaning. These are bags made to be worn, admired, and passed down. Pieces that transcend the moment and become part of your personal legacy.

ALLISON QUAID UNVEILED SERAPHINE EARRINGS

PARIS - On the occasion of Haute Couture Week, High Jewellery maker Allison Quaid unveils a new pair of earrings for the Autumn/Winter 2025/26 season. The Seraphine Earrings, named to reflect the various ways they channel light and the energetic properties of the Catseye (Chrysoberyl) stones they feature. The catesye and diamond strands are detachable, allowing the oval diamond studs (each in excess of 3 carats) to be worn alone. The earrings are inspired by the transfixing properties of the catseye stone as it moves, wherein mesmerising stripes illuminate the curved surface of the stone. The earrings are part of Allison Quaid’s larger focus on merging the natural with the architectural, creating pieces that embody elegance with edge and whose versatility makes them true collectors’ pieces. Allison Ogush Childers, third-generation jeweler at Allison Quaid states, “The unique reflective nature of the Catseye Chrysoberyl highlighting the extraordinary luminosity of these diamonds is mesmerizing.” The Seraphine Earrings weigh a total of approximately 19.47 carats and are now available at AllisonQuaid.com

With a balance of strategic foresight and hands-on mentorship, Christina has earned a reputation as a trusted, respected, and influential voice in the real estate industry and beyond.

SOCIAL MEDIA: @thebrainybroker for all (FB, X, IG)

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE: A Broadway singer, model, and actress.

YOUR LATEST PROJECT IS:My next project explores how success in both real estate and life comes down to one powerful truth: the company you keep. Just as thriving brokerages are built on the strength of trusted networks—agents, colleagues, and partners—personal fulfillment depends on curating relationships that uplift rather than distract. With my trademark blend of candor and positivity, I can reflect on how choosing the right energy, both professionally and personally, allows me to stay grounded, inspired, and thriving as a single woman in today’s fast-paced world.

To bring these conversations to life, I am developing a book and companion podcast series that will feature engaging stories, interviews, and unfiltered reflections on leadership, lifestyle, and love—offering fresh perspectives on what it truly means to succeed in business and in life.

YOUR DREAM PROJECT IS: Building Communities for Women Over 50. I envision creating vibrant, supportive communities designed specifically for women over 50 who are navigating a new chapter of life and searching for where they truly belong. These communities would blend beautifully designed living and community spaces with intentional programming—fostering connection, purpose, and joy. More than just housing, the goal is to provide environments where women feel empowered, valued, and celebrated. Whether through wellness initiatives, shared learning opportunities, or spaces that encourage authentic friendships, My dream is to help women rediscover their strength, embrace possibility, and thrive together in a world that often overlooks their needs.

YOUR INSPIRING STORY IS: One of many inspiring examples of this kind of vision already exists in the form of the Modern Elder Academy (MEA), founded by hotel entrepreneur Chip Conley. After recognizing how many people in midlife felt invisible or adrift, Conley created a community in Baja, Mexico, that offers not just beautiful spaces but also mentorship, learning, and wellness programs designed to help people rediscover purpose. His success proves what I believe to be true: when people are given places that honor their wisdom and provide connection, they flourish. My dream project builds on this idea, but with a dedicated focus on women over 50—creating spaces where they are not overlooked, but celebrated, empowered, and supported in writing their next chapter. I believe that if we are not actively living, we are slowly fading—and life is far too precious to simply stand still. With the gift of longer lifespans, we have more opportunity than ever to reinvent ourselves, to discover new passions, and to embrace fresh possibilities. Reinvention should never stop; it is the heartbeat of a life fully lived.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THIS PAST YEAR? This year has reminded me that strength is born from adaptability and reinvention—every transition, even the difficult ones, can spark growth and clarity. At the same time, I’ve learned that maintaining positive energy in a distracted, fast-moving world is never accidental; it’s the result of intentional rituals like reflection, writing, and curating spaces that keep me centered and aligned with my purpose.

“Reinvention sparks growth and clarity, even in the hardest transitions. Staying centered in a fast-moving world isn’t accidental—it’s the result of intentional rituals that protect my energy and align me with purpose.”

HOLIDAY WISH LIST IS:

Connection & Community – meaningful time with people who uplift, inspire, and bring joy to my life.

Opportunities for Reinvention – new projects, learning, collaboration, professional growth, or adventures that spark intention.

Positive Energy Rituals – books, music, wellness tools, or experiences that protect peace and amplify purpose.

A Platform for Impact – expanding my dream of sharing my voice through my book and podcast.

Moments of Pure Joy – laughter, celebration, and the freedom to embrace life fully in the here and now.

Q&A

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I WANTED TO BE: When I was younger, I wanted to be a real mermaid. But after realizing my swimming skills weren’t quite up to ocean standards, I began a lifelong journey of exploring different paths. Each twist and turn eventually led me to where I was meant to be - spearheading CARLA SHAW Sustainable Fashion. Today, I feel like I’m truly living my dream, surrounded by nature’s beauty, inspiration, and creativity.

YOUR LATEST PROJECT IS: Expanding CARLA SHAW Sustainable Fashion with new botanical jewelry collections created in collaboration with other talented Latino artists. My dream is to expand CARLA SHAW Sustainable Fashion into a movement that celebrates nature, heritage, and community, inspiring people everywhere to embrace beauty with purpose.

YOUR INSPIRING STORY IS: Born in Brazil and living over 35 years in the U.S., I carried with me a dream of honoring nature through art. After some career “switches,” the universe finally guided me to create CARLA SHAW Sustainable Fashion - a brand that respects and preserves our planet. It’s my way of celebrating individuality, culture, and the earth, while proving that passion and purpose can bloom at any stage of life. I often tell people who come to me for advice on living their dream and I tell them to stop “dreaming” and start working on their plans - it will take a lot of work, passion, and courage but every bit of it is worth it.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THIS PAST YEAR? Community. Opening my own store in January 2025 in Newton Centre, MA - right in the heart of Piccadilly Square - has been a true inspiration. This vibrant, welcoming community has embraced me, and seeing people’s joy and wonder when they discover that the CARLA SHAW collection is made from real plants has been unforgettable. Collaborating with Latino artists and sustainable fashion leaders has also fueled my creativity, reminding me that together we can elevate culture, sustainability, and beauty all at once.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST IS: More moments of joy with my family and friends, and meaningful connections with my community, followers, and dear customers. I also wish for a New Year filled with more global peace, deeper respect for Mother Nature, and greater acceptance and kindness toward one another - along with continued opportunities to share beauty through the CARLA SHAW collection

SOCIAL MEDIA: stephaniegarvin1, imdb.me/stephaniegarvin facebook.com/stephanie.g.schwarz, hollywoodexpansioncorporation.com

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, I WANTED TO BE: I wanted to be so many things at a young age. My first love was directing movies. I would build atmospheres for my Barbies and create stories for them and then I would photograph them with my mom’s camera. Very odd pictures when she developed them! Next, I shifted to wanting to be a Nun for some reason. My parents told me I could never marry or have children if I became a nun, and that changed my mind pretty quickly! Then, I shifted to wanting to be a businesswoman and own my own businesses. That was from around 8th grade through high school. I remember when I would fly independently between my parents in Junior High and High School; I would dress as though I were doing business. I looked and behaved very important and mature for my age, wore pumps, and fashionable business attire. It felt very empowering and inspiring! My parents thought I was coo coo when they would meet me at the other end of the trip, but I liked stepping into that role.

YOUR LATEST PROJECT IS: My latest projects are working on the film Maserati: The Brothers and my company, Hollywood Expansion Corporation. I am an Executive Producer on Maserati: The Brothers and really enjoy working with the producing team and helping this project come to life. The film features a stellar cast of award-winning talent, including Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Alba, Andy Garcia, Michel Morrone, Director Bobby Moresco, and writer Amanda Morresco. I am really grateful to be working at this level.

YOUR INSPIRING STORY IS: When I reflect on my life, I realize I have made most of my decisions based on what I want to do next. They were not always the greatest choices, seemingly at first glance, but I find that they ultimately led me to the outcome that set me up for my next journey. As I have grown older, I believe that all these experiences have led me to become an amazing problem solver, which is to find my way out of bad situations with ease and quick turnarounds. I have been told that I have extreme resilience and adaptability beyond most people. With my faith in God, I know I am a warrior and will never give up easily. I appreciate perseverance in a gentle, persuasive, and tenacious manner in business throughout my life. I know how to wait for the right moments and nudges that feel right in all aspects of business and life. I am always seeking opportunities that will build the next phase of my life and the lives of others.

WHAT HAS INSPIRED YOU THIS PAST YEAR? Big question here for me! I went through a couple of setbacks the past few years that really had me second-guessing many people and even myself. The pause really gave me time to reflect on and reassess my life and future. It was quite transformative personally and allowed me time to create my new company as well. Although tested…I was somehow reminded that all would be OK. I experienced leaps forward, leaving much behind. I guess the inspiration comes from realizing that you have to shed at times to renew. And that is OK!

HOLIDAY WISH LIST IS: For my son to tell me he and his wife are bringing a child into the world. Nothing will make me happier than knowing they will be amazing parents. :)

REMEMBERING…

Heather Dawn Crothers

Heather’s daughter Morgan Metcalf is a Gladys Model featured as one of our Beauty Stars. One of the last things Heather did was to make sure that we featured Morgan in this issue. A Mother’s Love Knows No Bounds.

IN HER OWN WORDS...

Heather Dawn Crothers, born July 5, 1980, lost her brief but courageous battle to cancer August 18, 2025. To know me was to love or hate me. I could be intimidating at first, but I had the biggest heart of gold once you got past the strong will and sharp tongue. I’ve always been a fighter, but this battle was too much for me. I love and have supported my kids in their sports, pageants, marching band, and extra activities. If you needed a loud mom, I was her. So many times, my kids would look at me and say stop it. One thing you don’t know is I’ve always hated football. Laugh, I know how did all my kids end up on that field. You will always hear me cheer on those WVU Mountaineers and Williamstown Yellow Jackets, even if I knew it wasn’t going to be a win for that day. My most loved sport was all things outdoor. From hunting or fishing or ATV’s and jacked up trucks. I loved suped up cars and trucks as much as other girls loved shoes and purses. The louder the bike or truck the better. I always knew who was here before I opened the door. I know today will be hard. I ask that you celebrate my life, don’t sit and cry. Life is too short. Go out there and enjoy it like there’s no tomorrow. I ask you to remember my kids. Family and friends, don’t wait to fix those riffs and family issues, do it now. Tomorrow is not promised, but today can be anything you choose.

Katy Daniels Most Inspiring

KNOWN FOR: Katy Daniels, Miss Tennessee Revolutionary, is a biosystems engineering Ph.D. student, volunteer firefighter, and founder of ROPES (Rural Outreach for Prospective Engineering Students). She combines STEM outreach, agricultural advocacy, and confidence-building workshops to inspire the next generation, especially girls, to chase big dreams without fear.

HER INSPIRING STORY: After losing everything in a devastating house fire, I found myself forced to learn skills I’d never imagined needing like how to rebuild, repair, and use tools to put life back together piece by piece. That experience, while difficult, lit a spark in me for engineering and problem-solving. I began to see how knowledge, especially in STEM fields, could empower people to face challenges head-on and create solutions in times of need. This newfound passion guided my education and inspired me to seek ways to ensure others, especially young girls, would never feel left out of the world of engineering like I once did. From that drive, I created ROPES (Rural Outreach for Prospective Engineering Students), a platform dedicated to bringing hands-on STEM workshops to rural schools, particularly for girls who may not see themselves represented in technical fields. I also launched a Confidence Crowns Clinic, an empowerment program that blends self-esteem building with STEM activities, teaching girls not only that they belong in male-dominated industries, but that they are fully capable of thriving in them. Seeing students’ eyes light up when they realize they can code, build, or solve a problem is one of the greatest rewards of my work. My journey eventually came full circle when I became a volunteer firefighter, directly serving my community during emergencies, something deeply personal given my own past. I now use my story to bring hope to people on their worst days, reminding them that rebuilding is possible. Pageantry became another platform for me to amplify this message, and as Miss Tennessee Revolutionary, I represent resilience, empowerment, and change. I want others to see that life’s hardest moments can plant the seeds for our greatest impact, and that with courage, we can transform tragedy into a legacy of service and inspiration.

WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY?

I find beauty in life. Everyday is beautiful when you’re living your life to the fullest. I find beauty in my day to day life. Just look around. Whether it’s looking out the window, or just walking around. Beauty is all around.

WHAT’S BEAUTIFUL TO YOU?

I can’t choose one thing that is beautiful to me. I see all kinds of beautiful things on a daily basis. But one thing I do find beauty in is a beautiful heart..

MY INSPIRATION IS?

Picking one inspiration is hard. But if I can do one thing, it would be to always leave a little sprinkle of kindness everywhere I go. I aspire to always be remembered that way.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST IS?

I don’t have a huge list. But I guess my number one would be getting all my backpacks for my homeless organization Avery’s Trace Foundation given out, and starting on a second round of backpacks. The homeless organization is something I love and continue to hope to contribute to for years to come.

WHERE DO YOU FIND BEAUTY? I see beauty in almost everything—even in the tiniest details people might miss, you just have to look for it. Even the smallest, everyday things can be beautiful if you see them in your own way. For me, noticing that beauty reminds me that the world is full of possibilities, and it inspires me to appreciate life and encourage others to do the same.

WHAT IS BEAUTIFUL TO YOU? To me, beauty is in the history and architecture of the cities I’ve been able to visit, like New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, and London. Walking through those places feels magical, almost like stepping into another story. I also think art from around the world is beautiful because every piece feels alive in its own way and tells a story you can almost feel.

MY INSPIRATION IS: My biggest inspiration is being a positive role model for other girls my age. I want them to know that anything is possible if you believe in yourself. Through dance, aerials, and modeling, I’ve had the chance to travel and meet so many amazing people, and I try to use those experiences to inspire others to dream big and never give up.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST IS: On my holiday wish list, I’d love to get a drum set because as a percussionist, music inspires me and helps me express myself in a whole new way. I’d also be excited for fun fashion pieces and new dancewear that show off my style, plus travel adventures so I can keep exploring new places. But more than anything, my biggest wish is to make special memories with my family and friends - that’s what truly makes me happiest.

J&TC Exclusive Interview with Artist and Model Kristina Romayscaka

Interview by Jenny Leeser, Jenny and the City

Q&A

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU.

After hundreds of doctors, years of pain, and the fear that I might spend my life in a wheelchair — I realized something powerful: life is too beautiful to live it halfway. I wanted to live it fully — to move, to feel, to create. Every small step, every time I held a brush, every challenge I faced made me stronger. And today, I know one thing for sure: anything is possible.

My name is Kristina Romayskaya. I’m an artist, a model, and someone who lives without limits. I was born with cerebral palsy due to a birth trauma. I started painting at the age of three, and at sixteen I became the first model with disabilities in my country. Life took a turn that forced my family and me to leave our homeland. We moved to Germany, where I spent two years studying art professionally, working with experienced artists, learning techniques, and finding my own voice. Later, we moved to the United States, because here I felt the space and opportunity to grow, express, and create freely. In March 2025, I held my first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, presenting three deeply personal works. I now continue my art education, develop my practice, and work on my memoir, “The Story of My Path.”

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO PAINT? I’m inspired by emotion — especially the kind that can’t be put into words. Music, silence, movement, memory, and energy all become color and texture on the canvas. Living with a disability taught me to feel deeper. Art became my way of speaking to the world — honestly and without barriers.

HOW DO YOU CURATE A SHOW?

To me, an exhibition is an emotional space. I carefully select works that carry a certain story or energy. My debut show featured three paintings, each representing a phase of emotional transformation. When curating, it’s not just about showing the art — it’s about creating a feeling. I want the viewer not just to see, but to feel.

WHAT DO YOU PREFER — PAINTING OR MODELING?

Both are part of me. Modeling gave me visibility and confidence, while painting gives me depth and healing. One is my external voice, the other — my internal world. I don’t choose between them — I live in the balance of both.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE?

I wake up at 6 a.m. and start my day with English practice — because I want to connect with the world and share my story freely. Then I study graphic design, take speech technique lessons to work on my voice, and dive into art history, which helps me understand the roots of creativity. I always make time for physical training, so my body grows stronger and more independent. Then I spend time painting and writing my book — both are deeply personal and meaningful to me. I also love to walk outdoors and meet new people — I’m genuinely curious about their stories, thoughts, and emotional worlds. These encounters give me inspiration and creative energy.

IF I WEREN’T AN ACTOR, I’D BE... If you had asked me five years ago, I would have said psychologist — I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior and emotions. But now, I’d say fashion designer. I love creativity and the idea of expressing emotions and identity through style and design.

THE PERSON I AM DYING TO WORK WITH IS... The person I’m dying to work with is either Isabelle Huppert or Emma Stone — for very different reasons. Isabelle Huppert

fascinates me with her intensity, her fearlessness, and the complexity she brings to every role. On the other hand, Emma Stone has this incredible emotional range and natural charisma that makes everything she does feel effortless. I would learn so much from either of them.

IF I HAD TO LIVE IN A WORLD FROM A MOVIE OR TV SHOW... I’ve always loved the magic and energy of Disney films — the action, the costumes, the optimism. So if I had to live in a movie world, that’s where I’d go.

Ortiz and Don Americo Launch Premium Cigar Brand

East

On July 30, 2025, the rooftop of Alba, a renowned fine dining restaurant in the heart of Quincy, Massachusetts, played host to the highly anticipated launch of Americo Cigars. The event brought together cigar aficionados, local tastemakers, media, and an upscale crowd to celebrate not just the debut of a premium cigar brand, but the story of legacy, heritage, and craftsmanship behind it. Founded by Don Americo Ortiz, father of Red Sox legend and Hall of Famer David “Big Papi” Ortiz, Americo Cigars represents decades of passion for quality cigars and a deep-rooted commitment to tradition. The rooftop transformed into a luxurious open-air lounge, where guests enjoyed a curated experience of freshly handrolled cigars, specialty cocktails, and fine hors d’oeuvres, while the sounds of a live band and an eclectic set by DJ Pup Dawg created an atmosphere that blended energy with elegance. The event stood out for its impeccable execution and attention to detail, thanks to the expert planning and coordination led by Christa Jones (christa@majorsports.us), whose team ensured every aspect flowed seamlessly from start to finish. Major media and press outlets were on hand to capture the excitement, with the event making waves across both lifestyle and sports coverage. As the evening unfolded, anticipation peaked with the arrival of David Ortiz, who brought undeniable star power to the celebration. Ortiz greeted fans, signed memorabilia ranging from baseballs to cigar boxes and apparel, and took time to pose for countless photos. His presence added a heartfelt dimension to the evening, as he honored the dedication and influence of his father, Don Americo, in shaping not just his personal values, but also the vision behind the Americo Cigars brand. Ortiz introduced the company’s executive team, a skilled group dedicated to sourcing the finest tobacco from the Dominican Republic and applying time-honored production methods to ensure a premium cigar experience. With a strong focus on quality, consistency, and respect for tradition, Americo Cigars is poised to make a lasting impression in the premium cigar market. The company is also committed to the training and development of its collaborators, aiming to build a sustainable and reputable operation grounded in excellence. NAME THREE PEOPLE OR THINGS YOU ARE INSPIRED BY: ’m going to pick one person from my personal life, an actor and a content creator. In my personal life, I’m inspired by my partner Sam, he’s one of the hardest workers I know. He’s always coming up with new ideas, be-it for fun or work, and actually going out and /doing/ them, which is so impressive to me. Acting-wise, I’m inspired by Hailee Steinfeld! Her career has been incredible to watch and she excels in every medium, on-screen, as a voice actor and as a singer. And then in the content space, I’m really inspired by Blake Silva. He creates such wholesome, genuine content and is exactly who he presents himself to be.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?

“We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”

BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN? It may sound cheesy, but to never give up. If there’s something in your life that’s your passion, that drives you, pursue it. Block out the naysayers, really go for it! There were times in my career I felt myself faltering, thinking about back-up plans, but that advice from the people around me, the people who believed in me, really helped me get through and get to where I am today.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST? EXPERIENCES! I love a good physical gift, don’t get me wrong, but a gifted experience like getting surprise tickets to a play, travel, a nice dinner, that’s always my favorite. That said! I am running low on my favorite perfume (Baccarat Rouge 540), in case my boyfriend is reading this, and I would love any of the lipsticks from the new Louis Vouitton La Beaute collection!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? I had a new special that aired on Disney+ on September 19th called LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - Pieces of the Past and I returned as LEGO Princess Leia! I also just wrapped an anime series on Prime Video called “City The Animation” where I voice Riko Izumi and a bunch of other colorful characters! We currently have new episodes dropping every week! You can also hear me as Diplo Ship in Pixar’s Elio and as the Bride in Dreamwork’s Animations The Bad Guys 2, both of which just released on Digital! And then I’m continuing to record on new, exciting (and NDA-bound, so I can’t say much else shh) projects and creating new content for social media!

As for me, the only thing that’s ever on my wishlist is books, books, and more books. Although I wouldn’t be mad if plane tickets to Hawaii appeared in my stocking.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? I’m busy working on my next book, Ideal Life, about a woman tech founder who discovers the ability to rewind the last 24 hours and takes advantage of that-- to get in the witty retort she thought of after the fight, to redo bad dates, and generally optimize everything... until she realizes that obsession with self-improvement might be making her life worse. Ideal Life comes out next summer.

Q&A

NAME THREE PEOPLE OR THINGS YOU ARE INSPIRED BY:

I’m inspired by the everyday heroes — teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, the Uber driver pulling a double shift, the barista who remembers your order. I’m inspired by people who don’t sit around waiting for luck but chip away at their dreams, building something from nothing. I’m inspired by those who rise from hopeless situations and achieve greatness simply because they said they would. I’m inspired by the selfless ones — the people who give when nobody is watching, because kindness feels good. And I’m inspired by those who stay relentlessly positive, the ones who can always find a way to make lemonade out of life’s lemons.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?

I can’t give you one favorite quote — but I can give you five of my top 100:

• “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

— Eleanor Roosevelt

• “What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

• “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” — James Baldwin

• “Happiness can exist only in acceptance.” — George Orwell

• “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” — Rumi

BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN? A detective friend once told me, “Keep everyone on your bench.” The timing of that advice felt almost mystical. It reminded me of the power of forgiveness and how essential it is — whether in life, love, or work. She was right: keep everyone on your bench. Or, you can stay home being right.

HOLIDAY WISH LIST? A baby cow. A castle in the English countryside. And a phone call from my favorite superhero of all time. (You know who you are.) No pressure Universe!

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? Waking up, for starters, breathing air, moving my body, making a phone call that changes my life forever — so that I can turn around and change everyone else’s too!

Kay & Tay Dudley

SOCIAL MEDIA: TikTok: @kayandtayofficial / Instagram: @kayandtayofficial

NAME THREE PEOPLE OR THINGS YOU ARE INSPIRED BY:

Tay: My parents, I was raised very loved and always refer back to them as I am parenting. “How would my parents have handled this”

Tay: Creators like Mr. Beast. Those who have made it to the top of the content creation game through unwavering hard work. Being in the field, I know how time consuming this job is, and so seeing how hard these people are working is motivating for me to work harder!

Kay: My Gigi. She was always so kind and so wise. She had this gentle way of making everyone feel seen and loved, and no matter what season of life I was in, she always knew just what to say. She was full of grace, and always gave the best advice. I always think to myself “what would Gigi do in this situation” and that helps me so much! Luckily one of my children, Kinsley, was able to know her before she passed, so Kinsley will forever remember how amazing of a person our Gigi was!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE?

Tay: “If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.” I have to remind myself all the time that what I am doing is difficult for a reason. We would not be blessed with the lifestyle we created if it weren’t for the hard work. Knowing that this profession takes a lot of time and effort is actually a good thing.

Kay: “Enjoy the little things in life, because one day you’ll look back and realize they were the big things.” I love this because it’s so true. The simple, everyday moments like playing on the floor with my girls or taking random trips just to grab a sweet treat may feel small in the moment, but they become the memories I treasure most. Those are the “big” things to me.

BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

Kay: Simply, “living in the moment” is the best advice that you could receive. Stepping back in any situation and reminding yourself that you are alive and experiencing life with the people you love is so powerful. It is an instant mood boost at all times, and it makes the mundane moments of life exciting.

Tay: “Buy your time back” is the best advice that I have been given in a long time. In the past, we were so bad about trying to do everything ourselves. Even if it meant spending an entire day on a task that someone else could have knocked out in an hour. I try to remind myself that in those instances, I should just hire someone to take on that task, so that I can put my focus toward other things! This is one of the reasons that we have made it to where we are today professionally. And, I love that I am paying someone else to do their passion, so that I can do mine!

HOLIDAY WISH LIST?

Kay: Christmas decorations! We moved into our home last year and didn’t really get to decorate. This year I want to make it feel cozy and festive, because it’s my favorite season and I really want to soak it all in.

Tay: I want to finally get the house back in order. We’ve been living in a half-decorated, overstuffed space with boxes and half-finished projects everywhere. My wish is to lock in and get everything organized so when we step into 2026, I can set new goals knowing our home is in order.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU?

We’re launching a brand next year, HEY! Nutrition. It’s been such a fun project to build over the last year, and we’ve been incredibly intentional with every detail: the flavors, ingredients, logo, website design, everything. We’re starting with protein bars (and seriously, they are so good). We can’t wait to finally share it, and we think people are going to love it. Be on the lookout for HEY! in 2026!

J&TC Exclusive Interview Shining Rae

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU AND WHAT DOES MUSIC MEAN TO YOU? I’m an Afro-Native singer-songwriter, guitarist, celebrity vocal producer, and philanthropist from Arkansas based in Los Angeles. My name, Shining Rae, embodies my naturally happy spirit and will to touch hearts and shine light on the world through music. Music is truly healing and an extension of my soul that I plan on sharing with the world for the rest of my life.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO WRITE A SONG? As a recording artist I’m heavily inspired by vintage love and romance. What I mean by that is the excitement of old fashioned courtship like something out of a romantic film in the 1940s, when beauty, class, and chivalry were glamorized. I was fortunate to see that kind of love between my parents and grandparents too, so it was something I always valued. I create love songs for those who also cherish romance and for those who haven’t gotten a chance to experience this kind of love in real life. I’m also inspired by “joie de vivre” as we say where I’m from. It’s a common Cajun French saying that means “joy of living” or “zest for life.” Ever since I was a child I’ve always loved and savored life to the fullest, so when I was introduced to music and songwriting I enjoyed being able to express my happy self authentically. As a songwriter for other artists I’ve always tried to combine my own life experiences with the other artist’s story to make the most dynamic, heartfelt songs. I only work with artists I believe in, so my inspiration starts with them.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST SINGING OR WRITING? It’s really hard to say, but singing is the talent I developed first and pretty much second nature for me. My voice is my heart and soul all in one. My songwriting helps me tell my story, but my voice makes listeners feel my story.

WHAT’S A UNIQUE MEMORY IN YOUR CAREER?

A surprise visit from Mariah Carey, arranged by my dear friend Brett Ratner, will always be my most unique and fond career memory. Playing guitar and singing my favorite Mariah Carey song “Dreamlover” while she sang along was a surreal moment that will live in my heart and memory forever. I got a chance to really get to know my all-time favorite singer/songwriter while watching her favorite music videos, laughing, and talking all night. The video of us singing together went viral on social media, but the best feeling was hearing how inspiring this moment was to others all over the world. So many fans reached out to me sharing how connected they felt to my pure joy that they could see in the video. I think the most unique part of this memory was how I pretty much manifested meeting Mariah in this beautiful special way. I’d been playing and singing her songs live all over the country for my entire music career. Everyone that knows me knows she’s my favorite singer, so when that meeting happened they were not surprised.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?

I’m working on a new country crossover single in collaboration with Nashville-based singer/songwriter Milla De Villiers that I plan to release this Fall. As an independent recording artist with my own label I enjoy doing my own marketing and being in full control of my message and my brand. My new singles that dropped this summer “Discretion (They Don’t Need to Know)” and “Need to Know” (Discretion 2.0) were both written by myself and produced by diamond- selling/GRAMMY-winning producer MyGuyMars and are currently being promoted to radio. “Discretion” is a 90s R&B vibe that has been nominated for two global music awards, 2025 Hollywood Independent Music Awards and 2025 World Entertainment Awards. I currently serve as a Grammy U mentor through The Recording Academy(GRAMMYs®) where I am a voting member. To share my knowledge with aspiring artists on a larger scale I have created an interactive online course called “Music Money Made Easy: From Registration To Revenue” that is designed to help indie artists properly register their original songs for global streaming and radio airplay as well as unlock lucrative and unique revenue streams to fully monetize their musical creations.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY? When I mentor aspiring artists I always tell them that getting a good mentor is the best decision an artist can make in their career. Finding a mentor who has already achieved career success that aligns with your career dreams could be the golden ticket to winning big in the music industry. Knowledge is power whether you get it through books about the business or through mentors and teachers. Be a sponge and absorb all the information you can continuously. Learning never stops when you want to succeed in life. Lastly, I always encourage artists to never let anyone steal their joy. That means, don’t let naysayers discourage you from pursuing your dreams. You have to be your own biggest cheerleader to make it. This business is tough, but so fulfilling when you keep your greatest purpose as your main focus and positive people around you.

Q&A

HOW’S A DAY IN YOUR LIFE? As far as my daily grind goes, (and this might be a surprise to many of you), but as an actor, I don’t actually audition. I played my cards in the world of Hollywood for years. I did it all -- went to casting director workshops, sent in countIess self-tapes, got signed by agents, got dropped by agents, set up a home taping studio, spent thousands on headshots! I was doing what every film/TV actor did. I felt like I got so much encouragement for my talents, but I never was booking. I was told once it was because I was a size 10 and wasn’t “American pretty” enough. So about 5 years ago, I decided my career wasn’t going to be left to the whims of others. I began making my own work, because I felt like it was the only way to lead the life I wanted to lead.

So now? When you ask about a typical day for me? Well it depends on what day you catch me on -- every day is different, especially when I am working on a project! But regardless, I always start the day taking care of my amazing cats, James, Scoop, and The Sundance Kid. Morning playtime is always good and very necessary to stay positive in a world that feels like it’s falling apart. It’s the little moments away from Titok/Instagram/the news that keeps me sane. Animals always provide me solace.

But if I’m producing a film (like I’m doing currently with my next script “The Writing Desk,” a period horror film), it’s honestly a lot of emails... a LOT of emails. Getting a film off the ground is such an enormous task, and you have to research and reach out to as many connections as you can, in hopes you’ll find the right people to make it possible.

But I mean it when I say it’s always changing. If you caught me on a day last June, I was painting cardboard sets in my living room for my one woman show I did for Hollywood Fringe! Sometimes I am in a writing meeting with fellow creatives, and sometimes I’m reading a play for a stage reading, and some days I have to take on normal gig work that doesn’t have anything to do with acting or writing at all! I’m not going to pretend I live my life in my chosen career every day -- because until you reach a certain point in your career, life is still very unpredictable. As an artist still making her way in the world, there are times you just have to serve a table or two, or go do a dogsit, or hand out samples of vegan cheese at a grocery store. The important thing is that you stay focused, stay driven, and know that there will come a time when you don’t have to sling cheese.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT YOUR CAREER?

Well, for acting, I love the exploration in scene work and the rehearsal process. I love discovering things that might come out of me that I never knew were in there. A couple times I’ve really surprised myself. Those are proud moments for me as an artist. And if it makes it into the final performance great, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t! It’s about creating authenticity in the moment and being satisfied with what showed up. I adore that. I love acting for both film and theater, but there’s simply more time to explore with live performance. That’s why when I direct film, I always treat it like a theater piece. I love rehearsals. That’s where the sausage is made!

But additionally, when we look at the broader picture of everything I do with my art, which includes producing… it’s the things that seem like miracles. Like, looking back at this first movie I wrote, produced, and starred in “Dear Luke, Love Me” — sometimes it feels like I’m looking back at a magic show I can’t really explain. It all came together with the most random assortment of events full of kismet. For example, our first two investors randomly reached out to me — one through Facebook, and one because they saw our film on

Kickstarter’s “hot projects” page. It was a real, “If you build it, they will come” moment. Seems very magical. And we connected with our last investor because my partner met him at a random party he wasn’t even supposed to be at! And this guy just walks up to my partner, and said, “Hey, I love your energy!” And they got to talking, and my partner mentioned my movie (being the supportive, amazing man he is), and this new friend said, “Well just so happens, I’m a film investor!” And we’ve all been great friends ever since! It’s the tiny miracles that I love.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE ROLE THAT YOU WORKED ON SO FAR?

Oof that’s a tough one. I did adore playing Soranzo in “Tis Pity She’s a Whore” when I was working with Shakespeare’s Globe. He’s a total villain, but I felt so much empathy for him. He is such a tragic, scorned character, I just loved finding the humanity in him. But my all-time favorite, I think, would be a character called The Stranger, in “The Fall of Europe” a Slovenian play by Matjaž Zupančič. The character actually had zero lines in the whole production and was introduced with zero context. The story was set at this wealthy opening of a new hotel with the richest 1% in the midst of a violent class revolt. And while bombs are dropping outside, this stranger finds his/ her way in, leaving the rich fascinated by a reality they know nothing of. The Stranger (or “Violet” as I named her) was the central focus of the story and on stage constantly. I worked with my director Tomaz Krajnc, and he gave me full liberty to write her backstory. No other actor in the play could know, so it was just my little secret with Tomaz. I dove in! I created such a detailed story of this little girl who was abandoned in the height of a violent revolution and had to survive on her own. She lived through so much love and loss, poverty and violence, and I can’t help but feel like she’s mine in a way. I was so connected with her, because I got to quite literally create her from scratch. And she became what I believed to be the embodiment of humanity itself; and stripped down that has a lot to do with having hope in times of terribleness. I think that’s where I thrive as an artist -- not only performing roles, but writing them as well. I actually hope to bring Violet to life again some day in one of my next films.
