Welcome to the Gladstone Region’s favourite summer holiday program!

SUNfest is the premier youth holiday program, full of fun and exciting activities for Youth (12-17 yrs) and Lil’ Kids (10-11 yrs) of the Gladstone Region.

BOOK YOUR TICKETS All SUNfest tickets go on sale from 10am Wednesday, December 3, 2014 and can be purchased:  ONLINE http://www.gladecc.com.au On completion of your online purchase you will automatically receive an email confirmation of your booking with a link to print your indemnity form and attached in a PDF file will be your print-at-home tickets. Print the tickets and the indemnity form, as these are both essential for admission to your SUNfest activity. An indemnity form must be fully completed and signed for EACH activity.  OVER THE PHONE: Bookings Hotline (07) 4972 2822. Phone the Bookings Hotline with your list of activities and pay by credit card. Fused Glass Jewellery A first for SUNfest! Judith Bohm-Parr from Studio 8 Glass will present a range of fused glass workshops. Create your own designer jewellery piece in glorious fused glass. This workshop will have you creating earrings, pendants or bracelet components that will be truly unique. No experience necessary, samples will be provided and glass will need to be picked up the following day after being fired in the kiln overnight.

Gladstone Region SUNfest Film Festival

Presented by Arrow Energy Be part of the first ever Gladstone Region SUNfest Film Festival.

Spend 2 ½ days creating and producing your own short film which will be screened during the SUNfest Showcase on Friday, 16 January.

SUNfest Youth Activities

Overnight Escape to Harmony Farm Leave the 'rat race' behind and head to Harmony Farm at Ubobo for two days of horse riding, games, bushwalking and fun on their flying fox. Finish the day with a great country-style meal. You will be horse riding both days around Harmony Farm and enjoying a fun day before returning to Gladstone in the afternoon.

Fused Glass Animals and Flowers In this workshop you will be using crushed glass (frit), cut pieces of glass and wire to create your favourite animals or flowers in textured glass to hang as a mobile. Go-Karts Set on four acres, Rockhampton's Kenrose Park has a 500 metre Go Kart track designed for karting fun. SUNfest has booked a session called 'Underage Rage', which includes two fast kart sessions. We will also supply a sausage sizzle lunch and a drink.

Pistol Shooting If you've always wanted to try Pistol Shooting, this is for you.

The Gladstone Pistol Club will have enough tutors on hand to give everyone a chance to shoot a pistol, have a match or try rifle shooting. All pistols are supplied, as well as lunch and a cold drink.

Flood Townships of the Future - Art Installation Create an art installation: A Flood-proof Town of the Future.

Join local artist Rosemary Anderson at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum in an exciting event that will run in conjunction with Rosemary's flood installation "We'll Be Ready For It Next Time". Students will use some of the same materials used in Rosemary's installation to create a "flood proof town" of the future. The final creation will be installed in the Gallery & Museum alongside Rosemary's installation for all to see.

Izit! Entertainment Cinematic Theatre Fusion of Film and Theatre Workshop Fancy yourself as a star of the stage and screen? Work with Markwell Presents Cinematic Theatre Company's Artistic Director Brad Jennings to create and present a unique fusion of live performance and the magic of the big screen. Participants will work together to play build a short performance piece and integrate filmed sequences ahead of the final presentation.

Create and Motivate Being a teenager can be difficult. It is not always easy to maintain a positive image and to radiate total confidence! This is a workshop for teens where participants create artworks on canvas using paint and mixed media that will serve to inspire, focus and motivate. Quoin Island Turtle Rehabilitation Adventure Enjoy a great day out in the middle of our picturesque harbour. Create a Snowflake Mandala in Tangle/Doodle Art What is a tangle? Learn how to create and draw your own mandala, participants will use scissors to cut a shape from paper, trace on to smooth watercolour paper, design shapes of their choice and produce a piece of art. No snowflakes are the same!

Chicken Wire Sculpture Baskets Twist and thread wire to form a basket, once the basket is formed with a handle, participants will use jewellery wire to attach beads for decoration. Bring any old jewellery you would like to upcycle.
