EXAIR’s new Super Ion Air Wipe provides a uniform 360° ionized airstream that clamps around a continuously moving part to eliminate static electricity and contaminants. It is ideal for removing dust, particles and shocks on pipe, cable, extruded shapes, hose, wire and more. The Super Ion Wipe uses a small amount of compressed air to entrain high volumes of room air. Two shockless ionizing points powered by a UL listed 5k V power supply fills the airstream with static eliminating ions. That airflow attaches itself to the surface of the material running through the air wipe and is effective for many feet away from where it is mounted. The force of the wiping action can be controlled with an optional pressure regulator.

The 14 series photoelectric sensor continues to offer robust dependable performance, while offering a broad variety of new connection options and housing features. The new, transparent rear housing section allows the sensor interior to be readily observed, permitting the power and output LEDs to be viewed from practically any angle — an advantage during sensor installation, adjustment and operation. The Model RPM10 photo/contact tachometer includes a built-in, non-contact InfraRed (IR) thermometer with laser pointer that provides fast and easy surface temperature measurements ranging from –20 to 300°C in locations that are unsafe or hard to reach. The RPM10 features a 6:1 field of view, allowing a 1 inch spot to be measured at a distance of six inches.

Combining IR temperature with RPM measurement, the RPM10 is a suitable maintenance tool for evaluating motor performance and detecting bearings or insulation failures.

The Shell Turbo Oils combined-cycle (CC) range helps tackle the long-standing problem of lacquer or varnish formation in servo-valves, which causes the valves to stick or seize. Formation of varnish on thrust or journal bearings can cause increased wear rates, while other problems caused by varnish in turbine oil systems include reduction of cooler performance, increased bulkoil temperatures, prematurely plugged filters and strainers and plugging of small oil orifices.

This new line of high carbon steel needle bearing sealed cam followers is identified as the BBXCAM-CN Series. They feature hardened and ground outer race and low-carbon alloy steel hardened studs and inner races. Both hex-head or slotted-head type, they are available in nominal I.D.’s ranging from ½” to 4”. They can be lubricated through the head end only and have a clamping torque based on dry threads. The quality design ensures reduced friction, quiet operating ability and increased durability.

The ZR20 rotary table features a small footprint stepper motor that is suitable for applications where space is at a premium. The table is operated by a 2-phase stepper motor with a 20:1 ratio – fine resolution in a compact package. At 200 steps per revolution, half step, the resolution of this motor is 2.7 arc/minutes, and can handle a 10 kg maximum load. The ZR20 is ideal for countless automation applications that include pick and place, assembly, testing, inspection, dispensing and part transferring. An example of this would be rotating a part in and out of a UV curing station or paint booth. MOTORIZED TILT TRUCK

Rubbermaid’s motorized tilt trucks make transporting and maneuvering heavy loads easy and safe. The battery powered tilt truck has a drive speed of 1.6 to 5 km/h to cover a variety of surfaces and terrain. It offers up to 5 hours or 24.2 km of operation on a single charge with only an 8-hour recharge requirement. The tilt trucks feature an ergonomic steering handle with two paddle controls that can only be operated with two hands – making it safer to steer and maneuver. The PDS-100 Programmable Dispensing System uses precision stepper motors to control a variety of FMI’s patented valveless piston pumps. This new line of square supports for ball screws is used in various machine and assembly station builds throughout the automation machine building industry.

Three new series comprise the following: BSQ/BSQM is small and compact for tight spaces; BSV/BSVM is small with a low floor profile for limited clearance applications; BSA/BSAM features a narrowpitch mounting-hole design. These screw ball support units are offered in 1045 carbon steel with electroless nickel plating or black oxide coating and are all RoHS compliant. These new square supports include bearing housing, angular bearing class 5, cover, hexagon socket head cap screw, spacer, clamping nut and oil seal.

The Amacoil/Uhing model RG linear drive features mechanical control over travel direction and linear speed eliminating the need for an electronic control system. Reversal of travel direction is automatic regardless of the speed or rotational direction of the shaft. Length of travel is increased or decreased using manually set end stops. Travel speed may also be regulated using a manual control on the drive unit without requiring changes to motor speed or gearing. The RG drive is well suited to applications in a variety of automated manufacturing processes in many industries including packaging, converting, textile, wire/cable and automotive.

The RG drive is low maintenance requiring only light lubrication of the shaft once per month. Available in 17 sizes, the RG drives meet axial thrust requirements from 7 to 800 pounds. Backlash is eliminated with specially machined “rolling ring” bearings which maintain constant point-contact with the shaft.

Amacoil, Inc.

The components used in a vacuum are subjected to especially high demands affecting the encoders used in the positioning task. These linear encoders are available in three product versions, all differing in accuracy, vacuum class, bake-out temperature, electrical connection and production environment. The three encoders for vacuum technology include the LIF 481V, the LIP 481V and the LIP 481U. The first two models are for high vacuum to 10-7mbar, the latter is for ultrahigh vacuum up to 10-11mbar. All of the encoders consist of a glass scale, a scanning head and the interface electronics (APE) requiring signal conversion to 1 Vpp. The vacuum compatible APE can be placed either inside or outside the vacuum chamber.

QBC announces a new line of linear guide blocks and guide rails. The LG Linear Guide Ball Bushing offers high accuracy, smooth motion and high load capacities. The LG’s rotation prevention function, where four rows of circular arc grooves are arranged on the shaft, is included to ensure precise movement.

This circular arc groove design allows for increased load carrying capacity. The LG is dimensionally interchangeable with a linear bushing, as the outer tube has the same outer diameter as a linear bushing.

Since the outer tube and the shaft are interchangeable, a combination of outer tube and shaft can be easily selected. When the shaft rotates the rotary motion is converted to linear motion output.

The highly miniaturized 9600 Series linear motion position sensor features a short 3.8mm mounting terminal and provides an extremely low profile. The overall height of the sensor is 12.7mm which allows installation in applications with abnormally tight packaging constraints such as joystick controls, HVAC, robotics, medical, aerospace and industrial automation and controls. Offering precision feedback, the low profile potentiometer features a spring return shaft that follows the surface of the measured assembly.

hiele Technologies, a leader in packaging technology and equipment, recently faced the problem of how to compensate for inconsistent bag dimensions on its popular modular bag filling and sealing system. Thiele serves customers in the diverse bulk materials processing industries, and the bagging system is designed to measure, fill and seal bags containing anything from pet food to salt, sugar, dirt, seed, fertilizer or animal feed. Many of Thiele’s customer’s had switched to lowcost bags with irregular dimensions. These irregularly sized bags were slowing the production process, which requires high-speed accuracy to meet manufacturing goals.

Two ganged Tolomatic actuators center the bags in the staging trays while two other actuators adjust the vertical position.

The standard Tolomatic B3S Series of rodless electric linear actuators handles heavy and high-moment loads with consistent, smooth operation. It can be modified for a variety of special applications.

Since repeatability is critical to the filling and sealing operation, Thiele engineers sought a solution that would increase accuracy, flexibility and productivity for packagers. They found their solution in four custom electric screw linear actuators from Tolomatic that precisely position incoming empty bags. The bagging system now automatically compensates for variations in bag dimensions and eliminates manual setup when changing bag sizes.

The application field for EC micromotors is growing while the space available for them is decreasing. A high density performance and outstanding efficiency are extremely important, especially for motors less than 20mm in diameter. These are two criteria that the new EC motors meet. The EC 10 has an output of 8 watts and reaches a maximum permissible speed of 80,000 min-1. The EC 13 is available in two versions, a short one of 6 watt assigned power rating and a longer one of 12 watts. Both are designed for a maximum permissible speed of 50,000 min-1.

All motors are available with or without Hall sensors.

The new Schneider Electric Square D® brand MD50 motor disconnect receptacle switch provides reliable, safe and quick power connections for motors. IEC 60309compliant technology helps the MD50 increase plant floor safety by making it virtually impossible to plug in a power receptacle having different voltage and ampere ratings. HYBRID STEPPER MOTORS

HS Series hybrid stepper motors are offered in three standard NEMA frame sizes with step resolutions of 1.8° in full-step mode. Motor lengths range from 1.614” to 5.591” and holding torques (bipolar) from 71 oz-in to 1416 oz-in can be achieved, depending on model. All incorporate precision-honed stators and ground rotors for tight air gap and improved performance; high temperature grade neodymium iron-bore magnets and simple- or doubleended shaft extensions. Motor rotation can run clockwise or counterclockwise.

The number of standard leads is 4, 6 or 8, depending on model. Additional windings and customizations are available, including gearboxes with standard or low backlash, encoders, brakes, and special shaft, endbelt and cabling.
