The Series 30i/31i-L Model B high-speed laser controls are capable of supporting advanced levels of high speed laser processing. The Model B CNCs have the capacity to deliver seamless choreography between axes motion and power modulation, even in cases of extremely high speeds when processing thin gage materials. The Model B laser control has update rates of 125 microseconds. The series also provides up to 8MB of high-capacity, non-volatile internal memory that is available to store constant inventory nests, which need not require network access to activate or run during surplus machine availability.

Valveless, ceramic pumps are designed for drift-free fluid control for pilot plants, test stands, and bench-scale process control. The sapphire-hard internal components of the pumps eliminate accuracy drift typical of pumping systems that rely on valves and elastomers (flexible tubing and diaphragms) to move fluid through the pump. The pumps provide a valveless rotating/reciprocation piston design that eliminates the need for check valves, which can clog, leak or fail over time. The result is maintenance free, drift-free fluid control that will hold an accuracy of 1% or better for millions of cycles.

Renishaw’s PH20 probe head is designed for high-speed point capture with minimal CMM movement. With its fast, infinite positioning capability, it increases touch-trigger CMM inspection throughput up to three times. Designed for use with the TP20 touch-trigger probe, the PH20 head brings 5-axis inspection capability to smaller CMMs by optimizing the working volume of the measurement platform. SOR® temperature switches utilize a vapour-pressure thermal system. Fluid vapour pressure changes in a predictable manner in accordance with the influence of temperature on the sensing bulb. The BIB-150P ultraviolet inspection lamp, with its unique, 150-watt Built-In Ballast™ bulb, is ideal for pinpointing any industrial leak such as oil, hydraulics, refrigerant, gasoline, diesel fuel or water. The semi-automated Saflex™ 2000 makes tube bundle cleaning more productive, typically cleaning four times as many tubes in a given period as manual water jetting. The system can clean two tubes at once, on both the in and out strokes. The operator simply positions the flex lances at the tube openings and pushes buttons on the hand lance to feed them in and out at rates of up to 0.6m/sec.

Alternatively, the lances can be automatically positioned with an optional X-Y positioner, using wireless controls that let the operator stand well clear of the action. Confirming the weight of each individual shipment is an important part of this process. This ensures sufficient postage is used and, in the case of overseas shipments, it can keep a package from a delay at customs due to incorrect shipping information.

“We ship boxes weighing nearly 50 kg. day after day,” said James Hargrove, vicepresident at Sabian, “It is very important that the contents and the weights are correct.”

Historically, orders would be packed and then manually moved from the conveyor system, which brings packages into the shipping area, to a separate scale system for weighing. The installation of two sets of Avery Weigh-Tronix Weigh Legs has enabled Sabian to automate the process, allowing the packages to be weighed while in motion.

“We chose Avery Weigh-Tronix Weigh Legs scale equipment to provide the con­venience, accuracy and reliability demanded by our high quality standards,” Hargrove said.

Each pair of Weigh Legs is made up of two supporting legs, two Weigh Bar® weight sensors, a junction box and cabling.

The scale equipment uses bolt-on components to facilitate in-motion weighing on a conventional conveyor system, enabling them to be fully integrated into existing conveyor arrangements. Once a cymbal package is weighed, the Weigh Legs transmit this data to a WI 125 indicator, a simple-to-use weight display that is linked directly to a printer.

“When the cymbals are packaged and the box is closed, not only does the label get printed, but the correct weight is documented for each package and stored in our records for future reference,” Hargrove said. “We frequently ship up to 50 boxes on a skid. The system allows us to add up the individual weight of each box to provide a total shipping weight.

When looking for shipping companies to handle outgoing freight, it is great to have documented shipping history to help us to anticipate future needs.”

Along with automating the process, the system has the added advantage of being able to fit conveniently into the same physical footprint as conventional conveyor sections. This design allows Sabian
